Men consistently tell me how shocked they are that I’m so funny and smart... bc how can an attractive woman be funny and smart... I know so many beautiful funny intelligent women. why do people act like we’re so rare??? It’s rare for men to have even 1 of the three traits 🤦🏻♀️
[–]chainsawbobcatFDS Newbie42 points43 points44 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
This is what gets me!!! I'm no super model, but I'm definately attractive. I was chunky growing up and had to work really hard through a lot of adverse life events, so I've blossomed in adulthood with a great sense of humor, loads of special interests, a salt of the earth outlook and a stable, intellectually based career.
They can usually handle that I'm beautiful and accomplished, but once they realize I'm funny AND I like good music 😂 it's a sight to behold.
I honestly see it less as "your not like other girls" than "holy shit women like this exist and I have no idea how to address all of the comparative deficits in myself". Which I guess is a good sign for men realizing they need to level up.

Funny is a personality trait, and men hate women with personalities. They prefer a sexxxy vacant vessel who will bend to their will.
They know that women often have personalities, but that means nothing to them as long as you're hot. A hot woman isn't more attractive to a man if she has a good personality. But if a woman has a bad personality, then he loses some interest in her.
So, an ideal woman is a sexxxy thang with no personality, because no personality = no bad personality, while men don't consider lack of a good personality to be a drawback. (probably could have worded that better, but I swear it makes sense)
Also, 90% of men have absolutely no personality to speak of, so a woman who can land a single joke intimidates the hell out of them.

OH MY GOD YES! WHY THE HELL THIS HAPPENS THOUGH?

An average guy doesn't like YOU in the beginning, he likes your body parts and how you applaud him. He likes you if you find HIM funny. If you are funny then you are just competition. Pickme girls sense this and that's why they are so impressed over nothing 🤡

LMAOO this comment is gold. Because whenever I find something unfunny, I pull a sarcastic insincere laughter while exaggeratedly clapping my hands. I only now realized I was actually mimicing a pick-me.

If I had a dollar for every profile that asked for someone to laugh at his jokes...
[–]EclecticBarbarellaFDS Disciple100 points101 points102 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Because humor generally involves some amount of intellect to be witty, especially conversationally, and most can’t keep up
[–]DallasM19FDS Newbie71 points72 points73 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
This. Most male humour is "wow that's an aggressive outfit" Me: that's rude Him: it's a joke lllolololollol

Most male HuMor is gross (jokes young boys would laugh at), cruel, or brash.
[–]ArcaiiFDS Newbie2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Which is most likely why men are so hell bent on the idea that women aren't funny. If men are funnier, they're smarter too.
[–]luna_prismaticFDS Newbie101 points102 points103 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Why are men so obsessed with being funny? I get it, it’s a perk, a party trick or whatever, but every guy I’ve ever met is INSISTENT that HE is the funniest person alive, and it’s like a huge contest to best anyone and everyone else in that department. I had one guy get extremely jealous that I went to see a stand up comedian, for example. Sulking about how “he’s not actually that funny”. Uh, yeah, he’s fucking hilarious, and that doesn’t mean you’re somehow unfunny? What is the logic? Why do men NEED to be not only funny, but the only one; the funniest?
[–]GertrudethecuriousFDS Newbie39 points40 points41 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Because men usually only have humour to fall back on as they often don't take care of themselves and level themselves up. They see couples where the woman says she was attracted to her husband because he made her laugh and think that's a sure fire way into a lady's pants. They forget that to keep a woman, they need to back up the humour with so, so many other things.
[–]spicyspaFDS Newbie23 points24 points25 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I don't really care about that. I like a man to have a sense of humor which is a very different thing than being comedic. I like a man who can see the funny in everyday life even though they don't have to be a comedian. I like people like that in general.
[–]_moonessFDS Newbie3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You’re right, being comedic doesn’t necessarily mean you have a sense of humor either!
[–]_moonessFDS Newbie4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
“Seeing the funny in everyday life”, I love that. Humor has been the one that that’s allowed me to truly put my life into perspective!
[–]favoritesoundFDS Newbie9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Because they’re insecure as fuck. But women are the emotional ones, ok?

[–]honeybeerollFDS Disciple4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Dudes who are really obsessed with this, they're mad insecure. They feel their humor is the only thing they got going for them. You ever see these 2 tweets?:
"how do ugly guys get such fine women???"
"the more she laughs, the more time she spends with her eyes closed....its science"
So yeah, these guys think they're going to win you over with the one thing they believe is superior about themselves, although I can't imagine and dude like this is actually all that funny lol.
This makes sense. I can definitely see it being used as a compensation tool to reassure themselves they can still manipulate women into sex. Ugh.

One of my ex’s said it was hard to find funny women, yet my cousin, BFF, and I all outdid his ass every time lol he acknowledged it & admitted defeat too lol Said that just when he thought he’d raise the bar, we would go higher. It’s nice bringing men down a peg when they think they’re better at everything.

and they try to one up literally any joke you make? it starts to get embarrassing at some point
[–]C_HaggyPickmeisha™️33 points34 points35 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes! A joke is not an invitation to try to be funnier than me. Extending yourself to add to a completed joke is always boring and embarrassing. If you're best joke is expanding on my joke and making it boring, then I'm funnier than you and stop it.
[–][deleted] 33 points34 points35 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I made a hilarious joke once and this guy's face went SERIOUS. He later admitted is was really good.
He was trying to get in my pants at the time and was trying everything, like everything I was good at he tried to one-up me. But his jokes usually fell flat, so when I delivered my one-liner he felt defeated.
What an absolute loser.
Instead of connecting with women and laughing at our good jokes, they try to compete.
[–]coursesandFDS Newbie36 points37 points38 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Men don’t like funny women, they like women who think THEY are funny. Men that say they like smart women usually mean they like a woman smart enough to realize how smart he is. They can’t handle a woman being smarter than him, funnier than him, more successful than him, etc. These men don’t actually like women, just just view women as a tool for their ego.
[–]hakunnamatatamfsFDS Newbie4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Totally. I've lost the count of times I've had men tell me in shock 'you are so smart / funny / clever' say what 😂 like if they can't really believe women can be that too SMH

OMG my ex tried to do this and I ripped him to shreds. And if he tried to do this in person I'd say "I was the one who said that! Don't steal my jokes!" He eventually stopped LOL

OMG my last boyfriend had such a hard time with my personality. He chose me because of my personality because I was outgoing and funny. But when I was actually with him he was always jealous and felt it was unfair that I was the way I was and he tried to be the way I was. The man's in his 50s. However I didn't choose him because he was just like me I was fine that he was mellower and more laconic. It was as though he felt I was being the way I was just to prove something and make him feel insecure. Oh well.

Chris Hitchens said this. Men who say this crap use evo pysch bs. In this case, the idea goes that men use humor to get laid, and that women don't have to be witty and therefore didn't "develop" a sense of humor because we can get laid whenever we want.
Men like this don't realize not everything is about sex, and that humor makes emotional connections OUTSIDE of sex too. Connections that could save lives back in our cave man days by lending a helping hand when things get tough. More people to cooperate with you rather than pillage your cave house.
As if women don't have friends or something lol. As if everything humans do is to find a fuck buddy. I mean we literally lived in tribes most of our existence they act like the nuclear family has always been the norm where it's only a man, woman, and their kids. Idiotic.

My Ex was always claiming to be funny. In fact when I ran across his profiles on dating sites he bragged about how "I can make you laugh".
The thing was he was always using jokes from famous comedians and I honestly think he was delusional that they weren't his own thoughts. I'm familiar with a lot of stand up and would be like :/.
And of course, one of the only traits of mine I will brag on is that I'm legitimately hilarious. Not "sarcasm" but I have a well developed sense of funny due to a rough job I worked for years (common cope). I could tell it bothered him I was actually the funny one while he regurgitated stand up specials and labeled it a good sense of humor.

The first time I came out of my shell was a at youth group, I started cracking jokes and everyone was laughing. My brother called me over and said that I was going home and that so and so was dropping me off; I asked if he was staying and he said yes. He sent me home because I was being eccentric.
[–]thinktwiceorelseFDS Newbie5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The funniest thing is they accidentaly laugh sometimes and mask it as a cough because apparently it's forbidden to laugh when we're funny.
[–]ArcaiiFDS Newbie3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Kind of irrelevant, but I read this study that took clips of women making jokes and lowered the pitch so they sounded like men. At first, people perceived it as being less funny when they sounded like women. Then, all the sudden it was funny when they had the voice of a man. Weird how that works.
In my experience men just kind of tune our jokes out because they already brainwashed themselves into thinking we aren't funny. And they do this because by admitting we're as funny as them is admitting we're just as witty and smart, which they'll never do. They made their minds up before we even open our mouths.
I had a friend in high school and college who could make any woman laugh so hard they started tearing up, but men were just blank faced or pretended like it wasn't even a joke. Maybe they smiled a little bit.
This girl is hilarious, but only to women. Men have literally told her she isn't funny. Which is such a fucking lie.
For me, I can only make men laugh if they've known me for awhile. Before 6 months they tune it all out. I know men think that if they aren't laughing, it's not funny. Even if women say it is. To hell with what we think I guess. So, if you're making men laugh you must have a golden sense of humor because it's a hard thing to do for sure.

[–]4BigDataFDS Newbie1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What about men's "Oh no, you are too smart" when making the best joke on them.
👏👏👏 Then, after they realize this, watch them try not to react to the funny shit you say. Watch them try to bulldoze the joke you just made with a lamer version of it.
