Both genders seem to have a huge blind spot about the primal instincts of men and women and how those instincts relate to them personally.

I chalk it up to that thing I keep blathering on about: innate human narcissism. Both genders have it, but it manifests in different ways. Basically, it's a stop-gap to prevent low SMV people from hurling themselves off the nearest ledge and trying to ignore the fact that pretty people in society have an easier go at things, especially in the mating arena.

Doubt me? Google the studies on the biases for pretty people (hiring, jobs, promotions, etc.) and the predudice against ugly people.
