I realise men, in general, even if you are just friends have a tendency to take up a lot of emotional energy. Like they expect women to fill the void that their shallow male friendships have left. So even though the relationship is platonic they still take time to reply and just lose interest if the conversation isn’t completely about them. I stopped responding to a guy friend who would keep leaving mid-conversation as if I should assume the conversation ends whenever he decides he is done talking. And now he texts me every other month with vague “apologies” and says stuff like “I realised I can be a burden to my friends”. Like no dude that isn’t even a sincere apology, it’s not even directed at me. It’s fun watching them desperate for attention once you’ve stopped yielding.

I'd go even further and say a guy that regularly responds to texts after already being all over social media throughout the day is not worth my time. Communication skills are important. If someone says you're their first priority, but their communication skills price otherwise...find a better one.
