Odds are that she is married, and that she and her spouse pull in plenty of money. She can go part time and take care of the kids as the household can afford to do it. Also there's the value of free time.

This is America. The majority of people are not doing well even if they are doing well; even in the elite institutions. Women are faced with far more ultimatums.

Could be that the woman from the elite institution working part time earns equally or more working part time than the woman not from an elite institution working full time.

The research is talking about children, so the reason could be that she chooses to spend more time with the child (as I think it's better for the child's development, especially in the early years, and paren-child relationship if they spend more time together). Her working part time might allow her to spend more time with the child while having enough money for their needs.

She might go back to working full time when the child is old enough to be more independent (like 15 years old).

Basically for her the child is more important than work and she can afford to work part time.

It can also say that our culture still expects the woman to be the one to care for the child (take sick leave when the child is sick, ask the employer to let her go earlyer, because she needs to bring the child to the doctors or take care of the childs school stuff)

Because equating more work with more money is for dumbs. Many office workers make multiples more than the average tradesman despite "working" only a fraction of the time. Someone who gets an MBA from an elite school should be smart enough to optimize their work - money balance.

Because they get elite educated husbands so she doesn’t have to work as much. We always see this. The better the economics the less so,en work and the more gender differences become apparent

If it's a Master's of Business, most businesses, especially retail, aren't hiring full-time right now, and are doing so on a very limited basis because of things like employee benefits being costly to a company that might not be able to afford it for all of their employees.

Because very likely, they have married up, and don't need the money.
Because elite degrees allow for the possibility of part-time work, but non-elite degrees do not.

Because if they were affluent enough to get an MBA and a career out if it, they had the option of walking away from work. The ones that didn't are more likely poor and have to work as much as possible to get by.
