Oh Mark, you clearly do not understand that women do not want equality, they want benefits. They still want you to pay for the date because it benefits them, and they want every part of "equality" that benefits them without the responsibilities. When you expect women to be consistent with what they claim, you are often disappointed.

Women who want conservative men even if they are progressive will do so because a conservative man is more likely to be traditional himself and provide the benefits of that traditionalism. The benefits she gets from any progressive politics will already be baked into the cake with society as a whole, so the man being progressive too would not provide that additional benefit. Having a man who would still be traditional while having progressive politics is just seeking to have things both ways.

But these progressive women should not be surprised if these types of men forego commitments to them because of their politics. When you have someone who supports and votes for policies that are antithetical to your outlook and you do not get the benefits from her having that outlook, there is not going to be as much of a reason for a conservative man to date a progressive woman. Yes, it is not only progressive women who are guilty of this, as even "conservative" women have these tendencies as well. But if it is well known that she goes against your interests, including financial interests (e.g. tax policies), men who are conservative are going to be less keen on the idea of committing to such a woman.

I don’t think having manners is “conservative”. When we go out to eat I pay for the whole meal about 80% of the time. I open and hold the door open for her. Walking curbside is something I try to do when I remember lol. Also I try to remember to open the car door for her to get in. Trust me, women love that shit. She sees the gentleman and good guy in you.

I’m fairly liberal, but when it comes to relationships (my own) I tend to lean a little more old fashioned in terms of gender roles. As a man, I should protect, cherish, and provide for her…however she should be capable of providing for herself as well. A woman that is a good cook is big plus points.

Now that I think about it, that’s one of the only things I’m conservative about. Mostly everything else, I’m pretty progressive and liberal.
