Secondly, why is every double-standard between men and women relying entirely on not being ugly? I've seen my female friends giggle amongst themselves while blantantly checking out a handsome dude's arse, but they'd be the first to call out an (ugly) guy as a creep if they did the same back to them. (I asked them, they said women are more subtle at checking out guys, so it's 'okay'. It wasn't at all subtle.)

On the spectrum of inappropriate behavior, asking for a number isn't that bad. But it's pretty intrusive if it's out of the blue like standing at a bus stop. It's not like you've struck up a rapport or anything, you've just found a less threatening way to say, "I'd like to fuck you." It's low level harassment because it's unwelcome and uncalled for.
