Gotta remember, feminism is actively taking words and deforming their definitions so they can use them to get results out of the non feminist population. To most, rape is forced sex on an individual that has stated they don't want it. That isn't the definition used by feminists.

Sexism isn't discrimination based on sex. To them it actively only applies to women. Men have a separate term that blames a male driven society and not necessarily the individuals discriminating based on sex.

When I was teaching university, I found myself being less harsh on female students. I promptly corrected this unprofessional behavior because as I saw it, I was being sexist. Not against women though.

The user "BooBailey808" was part-wrong, but part-right (more accurately, mostly wrong, but notably right about one thing). Harsher sentences are definitely not toxic masculinity (contender for stupidest coined term of the 21st century) but aren't really sexist, since different courts with different judges dealing with different cases result in a differing range of sentences. All it would take to tip the balance are courts with tough justices in places where women are rarely having run-ins with the law seriously enough to face a judge. In order to establish that there's a sexist motive, you'd have to prove that the entire over-arching system collaboratively sets the standard harsher for men than women.

From what I can tell in western legal systems, there is no gender distinction in sentencing. No rule that says "go easy on the ladies".

The same argument applies to job wages. Feminists think it's sexism, but what I see if a congregation of businesses that don't talk to one another. They act in their own vacuums, the imbalance becoming incidental.

Both opinions are correct depending on perspective.

Men are oppressed in respect to women in the sense that they receive longer prison sentences. You could also go further and say there's a social sexism against men that influenced them to commit more crime too.

However we dont have a baseline to compare to when it comes to sentences since we are comparing only two possible variables. Maybe perhaps the sentences men get are fair?

If you look at that way, the fact women get lesser sentences could be because women are seen as the weaker sex. Or that the women are unable to serve longer sentences because they can't "tough it out" or that women are unable to commit "real" crimes. If you look at that way, you can see the feminist point of view. Of course in this case the sexism against women benefits women. Something being sexist doesnt imply that the recipient of the sexism is victimized. Its the reasoning behind the sexism. For example feminists also say the draft excluding women is sexist against women, since the common criticism is that they're less brave and have less strength. The argument feminists have is that they should be simply allowed the chance to prove themselves without being outright rejected or pre-judged

The reply mentioned "toxic masculinity". They did not mean that masculinity itself is toxic. What was referred to is the idea that it's only okay for men to get angry/be violent or that it's only men should have the standard to "man up". Those ideas are referred to as toxic, since women are also capable of being angry or "maning up". (in the sense that "manning up" is persevering through adversity) Women are not raised to the standard of men because of this toxicity.
