It's quite common for people to use OLD to meet men these days. Remember this sub does not encourage women to use OLD as it has many drawbacks.

1) OLD attracts a lot of LV catfishes. Due to the anonymous nature of the internet, many LVM who wish to keep their true identity a secret gravitate towards OLD. This includes fuckboys hoping to cut ties with you when you become "too clingey", cheaters who don't want you to realise they are cheating, perverts, and scammers. Yes, men you've met in other places can lie too, but it's hard for them to lie about their entire identity when you've met at an interest class or via friends.

2) HVM are a rarity on OLD. Yes, I know some of you may want to use OLD as you don't know any HVM irl or all the HVM you come across are already taken, but it's not like OLD is full of HVM. Most men prefer meeting women irl than online as they will naturally develop crushes on women they know and will worry about being catfished too. Given how HVM are a minority, they can probably attract women easily and have little reason to use OLD. Yes, there are OLD success stories but they are rare. The number of people I know irl who found a long-term partner on OLD is the same as the number of lottery winners I personally know - zero! And yes, I'm including all sorts of long-term partners instead of only HVM looking for marriage. If OLD was really that good, you would know more people who found "the love of their life" via OLD. These success stories are rare for a reason.

3) You already know some of these men on OLD are scrotes. Every now and then, you see users here talking about how they found their LV ex on OLD. Yes, there are LVM everywhere, but as I've said, LVM gravitate towards OLD given its anonymous nature.

4) Men on OLD tend to have similar profiles so even if there are many users in your area, there's not much "diversity" for you to choose from. Men on OLD tend to fall into these categories: the "jock" who claims to be rich, tall, athletic, muscular, and outgoing, the "nerd" who looks unattractive and scrawny and tries to portray himself as outgoing with a nice STEM-related job, and the "low efforts" whose profile is basically blank except for a pic of himself or some scenary and some text. I personally like nerdy guys who share the same intellectual interests as me and it seems like almost all guys on OLD don't have this trait.

5) The whole thing about meeting your future husband via OLD just feels "unorganic". It's really hard to determine if there's chemistry based on OLD profiles. Something about a guy's personality needs to capture my attention before I want to date him. Communicating online makes this very hard to happen. Even talking on the phone or Skyping prior to meeting each other irl just feels different than meeting in a more "organic" manner.

6) Transitioning from a guy you've met online to a long-term relationships requires a great leap of faith. Unless if the two of you happen to mutually know the same person or people irl, it's hard to fully verify his identity. The social media profiles and contact information he shares with you can all be fake.

It's your choice to use OLD, but I'm personally not a fan of it. Please stay safe!
