I recently matched with a seemingly nice man. We are in the same profession (lawyers) and both in our mid-30s. I am tall (just over 5’9) and a fitness fanatic, I take pride in being in great shape (for me). So after some chir chat, I realized he does not exercise and when I asked for bis height he said “maybe 5’9.” He asked if he “passed.” I just responded that I’m taller and he asked “so you can’t date a man that is shorter than you?”

I hate that question because men have their standards- if I looked different, then there is a huge possibility he would not be interested in me. So why is it wrong for me to want to date a man who is at least at eye level to me? Honestly my cut off is merely 5’10. Am I shallow? Am I narrowing down my dating pool by trying to date men at my height? TBH I have dated men shorter than me but I met them IRL where their personalities shined. But with OLD, idk if I care to even make an exception.

ETA: We easily realized we both belong to this big organization in our town, so now I feel stuck and can’t just unmatch bc I might run into him someday...possibly...unlikely? So he asked if i can’t sate anorter men. I said “It’s what I prefer.” And now he said “No exceptions?” 🙄 Argh I should just ignore for good.

Update: i received a PM from a throwaway saying this:

Give the man a chance, your 5’9ft, he’s around 5’9ft, Christ my fellow ladies are stupid if they think it’s a crime to date a man an inch shorter. So what if he’s not taller, boo hoo, learn to realise height means nothing.
