hi all! this is my first post here. i have recently been especially frustrated with guys lying about their height on dating apps. height isn’t even a huge deal for me (although of course it is a reasonable standard). to me, height is a plus, but not a dealbreaker. my personal standard is a guy that will be at least my height when i wear my average shoes, which are platforms at around 1-2”. i’m 5’7”, which means on an average day wearing shoes i’m maxing out at 5’9”. i am so sick of going on dates with guys that say they’re 5’11” or 6’, and arriving to the date to find we are the same height in my shoes. here’s the thing. being the same height in my shoes (aka a guy who is at least 5’9”) is my personal standard. i’m fine with a guy that height! what i am not fine with is arriving to a date to discover that this man has lied to me before we’ve even spoken a word in person.

my last long term relationship was with a guy who obviously lied about his height. i was a definite pickme at that time. and you know what, his height was not an issue for me. know what was an issue? his obvious insecurity about his height, and the fact that he took it out on me by trying to control what i wore and make me feel insignificant.

in order to counter this, i’ve decided to add an inch to my own height on dating apps. i might even make it 2 inches eventually! i’m hoping this will weed out the guys that know they’re lying, as a woman who is 5’8”-5’9” will make their lie too obvious. would love to hear if anyone has tried this before! i also just really wanted to vent about this as it recently makes so many of my dates feel like a waste of time.
