Oh my god. A homemaker contributes to the home! They are considered “unpaid labor” because it’s a spouse who is doing work that must be done and would cost money to have other people do (eg laundry, cooking, etc), and which assists in making the breadwinner’s life easier. It’s not a catch all for any volunteer activity

I saw something about this posted elsewhere related to something "cringe", because the post was referenced in a mod sub and they had basically said they they would ban anyone posting comments dissing modding as a "career" because basically they're all mods and won't have it in their discussion.

I get it, it's difficult, it takes up your time and energy and it isn't easy. And especially here in this sub, goodness gracious do I ever appreciate the work that the mods do. But it is not a job, and this whiney boy can take modding off his plate if he needs to in order to get a real job that provides for his living expenses.

I’m a mod too but I have loads of time to help my mother in cleaning the house, sweeping the floors, washing the dishes, cooking food for the family, taking care of my siblings, attending classes online and studying. :)

I wonder why she only sometimes wants to leave him? He's like a literal teen staying online all day and providing nothing to the household.

She's be smart to leave now and get a real man that can be a partner and has other hobbies rather than sitting online and watching his ass get fatter (literally) because he does nothing in the form of physical exercise and mental in the form of hobbies and tradecraft and financial to provide for their future.

She would save money if she left him and free herself from the caretaking. I'd leave or put him out immediately.

I do often think we should chip in and pay FDS mods for their labor, but that’s pretty incredibly different, plus I’m sure they all have careers and other things in life.

I’m in love with the idea of one day being a 50s style housewife

Id honestly love to be a housewife, to pack my husbands lunch and kiss him on the cheek before I watch him go to work. To be the songwriter to his singer, but instead….I’m the only income at the moment.

I’m 31 without children, and my mom and grandma each had at least 2 by 21. My twin sister has 4 kids, and my little sister has 2. My twin stays home and takes care of her kids, my little sister doesn’t, but she used too. They work inside the home while their husband works outside of it. I want that. I’d make sure him and my kids didn’t have to lift a finger at home. Like holly homemaker come to life. We’d make the perfect team.

My husband made enough at 1 point, if all goes well he’ll let me pick him backup. So he can dust himself off and do what he has to do to give us the life I’m thinking I’d love.
