My feelings about britney have provided me so much insight about a) the way the media can influence how we think, especially as teens. I totally jumped on the "lol, Britney is crazy white trash" bandwagon when I was younger. And b) the way the sexualisation of young girls is normalized.

Britney came out when I was around 9-10. To me she looked grown up. I obviously never questioned why a teenager of 16 was dancing in a sexually suggestive way on TV (go back and watch 'Baby one More Time' the whole thing is a sex dance). In fact, I wanted to be just like her. Then in 2007 the media absolutely trashed her and all my non-critical teenage brain could think was, "yeah, what a crazy bitch."

Now, looking at it I realized she was essentially raped by the media and by the consumers of the 'product' that is britney. She talked in a sweet little baby voice while acting overtly sexual. So naturally, our culture assumed she was ours for the taking.

During the head shaving incident someone asked her, "why are you doing this?" and she responded, "I'm tired of everyone touching me." That says it all.

I’ve always felt bad for Monica Lewinski. She was a young single girl and the president of the United States was all up in her business. I’m sure it was thrilling and exciting, especially when he was giving her presents. Then she gets ratted out by a “friend,” a media storm ensues, and in the end, married Clinton is forgiven and she is forever vilified. Really disgusting.

Look at Britney Spears compared to Justin Timberlake. They started out on the same show. They both had successful music careers. Their lives ran parallel to each other for a very long time.

And yet look at how things turned out for Britney. She would be at the same level of success and happiness had the media not continually hounded her and torn her down simply for being what she was forced to be by her parents (who have a lot to answer for imo) and record companies. Britney and Justin are yet another case in point of the lack of equality in media representation when it comes to gender. It's a fucking tragedy.

about the kesha thing, she was actually forced to preform and sing a lot of those songs by her producer who was sexually assaulting her. an example is die young, which came out shortly after the sandy hook shooting. Kesha didnt want to drop that song after such a tragic event, but her producer did it anyway and laughed as people hated kesha for his actions.

I feel sorry for Brandy who had to LIE about being married to her LVM boyfriend when she mistakenly got pregnant by him when she was a teen pop star idol.

She was even forced into the MTV reality show “Brandy Special Delivery”, to document the entire process.

Her career never recovered after she touched LVM.

They totally acted like awkward unattractive girls hating on a girl just because she’s pretty despite their claims of being “sex positive”and supportive of women and completely ignored the fact that Megan Fox was sexually harassed by Michael bay starting at 15. Kristen Stewart is definitely still dumb for having an affair with a married man. Anyone who knowingly signs up to be a side piece is an idiot. ETA: she was already famous and admittedly called it (the affair) exciting. So I don’t see it as an imbalance of power like with Clinton and Lewinsky.

Though I didn’t do almost any of this I don’t apologize for the ones I did do. Kristen Stewart was and still is the WORST. She compared the Hollywood red carpet to being raped then admitted she had never been raped to know. After all those harsh words she cheated on her boyfriend to get the role in Snow White by sleeping with the director. I used to hate pink for it being used to put young ladies in a category.

Only thing wrong with this is "women making money from their hot body" because "being in shape is hard work".

Hot =\= in shape. The hottest women who make a living out of being hot have a combination of good genetics and being skinny. They could be fully out of shape.

If you want to see women in shape, look at athletes.

Let’s add Lorena Bobbitt to the list, who was subjected to decades of ridicule and being the butt of a joke, all for finally deciding enough was enough and standing up against her abusive husband. For the longest time I didn’t even know that she had been brutally abused every day by her husband, I was raised to know her as “crazy woman who cut her husband’s penis off.”
