I'm probably biased because my city has an out of control housing shortage and unaffordability issue, but my immediate observation was that it's tidy, organised, and the bed is well made (with two pillows! The bar is in hell!). In my 20s this wouldn't necessarily be a red flag, in my 40s however, it's a concerning lack of forward planning and financial stability, regardless of who owns the room...

Oh HELL NAW! Period. Ladies a man in this position if holding any kind of drive or plans to level up would NOT be in a position to date seriously , date his ideal women who know their worth, or long term and it is never wise for women to date for "poortential" because you can bet your bottom dollar if a man like this levels up he will resent any woman who knew him at this level and either cheat with a woman he can impress or dump you for his dream trophy girlfriend /wife. JUST like men do not hold back when they can be anonymous because a lot of men re cowards about how much they dispose women who do not fit their aesthetic preferences or women with kids etc etc etc , women forget that and then moan when stuck in FWB they did not initiate because they do not fit the man's STANDARD for long term...Think STRATEGICALLY.

Judge or not, I find it weird how so many people just can't admit that a person's room can reflect so much of their personality or at least their priorities and ruling passions. It's not 1:1 or anything but look. Sneakers. Game system. TV. Filthy carpet. Plain bedding. Nothing on the walls at all. This says a good amount about this guy.

We don't get depressed by bedrooms where there's a mattress with no cover on it on the floor and nothing else in it for nothing either...it is just unsettling. Something looks like a crack hovel for a reason and going all woke nice mode and pretending we shouldn't at all care is ridiculous tbh and stupid to be proud of being chill with. Especially when our own bedrooms are really nice and functional.

Might be biased but, for example, many amazing creators have beautiful or at least incredibly interesting and functional bedrooms (aka there's signs of them being productive). There's desks full of work stuff and ideas, instruments, adorable pictures and things, calenders, bookcases...signs of being thrived in and little snippets of a person's heart and soul. Also goes to show they care what they put out into the world. Usually successful, well rounded people on many levels literally have better bedrooms than average, even taking out the variable of wealth.

Not saying everyone uses their bedroom for something, but it's pretty much a guarantee that this weird basement-looking space isn't used for anything cool. Just gaming. People are saying "making the best out of the situation" and it's...gaming, clearly.

Now, excuse me. I would feel like complete and utter shit telling this to the owner of that bedroom's face cuz I'd want to leave him to his own devices and mindspace. I don't really know him that well, but the veneer of the man I see living in that bedroom is unattractive to me and I won't let myself feel bad for feeling so.

If we’re in undergrad... kay.... if we’re teenagers... kay. Beyond that yeah sure we all got our journey doesn’t mean we have to go along for the ride. When you’re along for the ride you’re sure to be dropped when the guy upgrades.

I honestly do judge people based on where they live, especially at my grown age. I'm 40, if you're doing this bad at my age, why would I bother? I have enough of my own problems without taking on someone else's. It's a hard no from me.

Nah I'm leaving. "At this grown age" you can put effort into the place you live, even at a low-cost. Especially if you're planning on inviting your girlfriend over. I think this type of room is acceptable from a friend but definitely not from a boyfriend and possibly a future husband. I would never date a guy who's financially struggling and has low standards like this.

On the one hand...tidy and well taken care of, so yeah, best of a bad situation. My only judgement there is positive, whether he's managing it paycheck to paycheck or saving for something bigger. I'm gonna spend a couple years living really rough so I can buy my ex out of the house ASAP, I'd be a hypocrite if I condemned that room.

On the other hand, I'd still be perfectly within my rights to choose not to date someone whose situation looks like that (well, I'd give enough of a chance to find out the backstory, but you might not and that's OK.) Judging people as people isn't quite the same as judging their suitability as a partner to you.

Well, if they say that we shouldn't judge, fair to a point. I mean, I can't tell whether the guy is a bad person or not from his bedroom. But I can definitely tell that he's in no position to entertain, let alone provide for, a woman.

This wouldn't necessarily be a red flag for me if it turned out that he was living super frugally to save up for a house or something, but that he's well employed and not normally so cheap. But, of course, 99% of men with home likes this aren't that.

I’d appreciate someone who is living in this condition if they’re hustling to move up and on, saving, working through college, whatever to level up. If you don’t come from money, this is what you do rather than borrow more than needed in college. You penny pinch, save, while you’re investing in yourself.

Wouldn’t date them, and think they need a carpet cleaner (so cheap to rent), some grown up furnishings.

eh its just an opinion on a strangers room it doesnt mean you have to date them. i think its important to follow fds and want to date financially successful men but it does not meant we have to become classist. its ok to say you wouldnt date someone whos in this situation that is our right and necessary for survival but doesnt give us free reign to outright be classist

I’d be cool with it, as long as he’s clearly working toward something better. I’m in my 20s and I live in one of the most expensive cities in the US. Unconventional living situations like this are fairly common in my city, especially for young people.
