I got into a discussion with a woman (claims to be assigned male at birth) and it really ticked me off. She claimed that "Every man is privileged regardless of class, they have privilege, and every issue comes minute to women's." I tried numerous times to disprove her point with the evidence I've been provided through this subreddit. Her rebuttals:
- The draft hasn't been used since the 70s. Most men will never experience a draft in their entire life. This is pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
I haven't found anything that proves that women get off crimes easier than men despite there being the same evidence. I'd argue that privilege is only afforded to white women.
Women are not given a pass when it comes to sexually assaulting boys that men don't. Again, no one cares about victims, regardless of gender.
Women are not given a pass when it comes to domestic violence. There's no evidence to support this.
Men aren't given as much help because they don't need as much help as women. If men want help, then they need to help themselves. And this is coming from a AMAB.
6.There aren't more resources given to women to report IPV and sexual assault. Most resources are gender neutral; men just don't utilize those resources as much as women.
Female offenders are not treated better than Male offenders. Literally both genders have to wear uniforms. What a bs argument
Police violence is higher against men because men tend to be more violent to the police. The police aren't targeting men because of their gender.
Men commit the majority of crimes. Idk what else you want me to say.
That doesn't take into account a lot of things. Were the boys repeat offenders? What about race? Teachers are actually harsher with women than with men. I know in my experience, women were treated more harshly, while the teachers allows the men to cut up more
The average man is still less at risk of getting raped and sexually assaulted than a woman. That remains regardless of race, social status, class. The average man will still earn more a majority of the time than women. Society still thinks men are more competent than men. Privilege affects everyone, regardless of who you are. Any "privilege" women have, is miniscule compared to male privilege.
Its not just the top 1% of men that has privilege. Every man has privilege just because they are a man.
When it comes to the rape data, i was referring to the U.S.. The U.K and france has those laws because they are outdated, not because of "new age feminism". Those laws are older than the modern feminism movement itself. This is not feminism's fault. Most feminists are against those laws.
My counter: 1. The draft still exists regardless if it doesnt happen right now. Many countries it does
- Statistical data from the U.S. federal justice system consistently shows that women, including Black women, generally receive shorter sentences and are more likely to receive probation than men, including Black men, for similar offenses. (United States Sentencing Commission)
3.Men are significantly more likely to be arrested for the same crime

- And 9 Police Research indicates that police may treat female aggressors more leniently than males, leading to lower arrest and citation rates for women, Conversely, evidence suggests that both male and female officers may be more likely to use physical force in situations with a male suspect compared to a female one even if the aggression from the male arrestee is not showing aggression. Additionally, gender-based biases can affect police investigation and response to crimes like domestic violence and sexual assault.
Lower arrest and citation rates: Studies have shown that female offenders are arrested and cited less frequently than male offenders for similar offenses.
Bias in response to domestic violence: A number of research indicates that male victims of domestic violence report that police fail to respond or take their report seriously, sometimes leading to the male victim being arrested instead of the female aggressor.
- "Men commit more crime" This is based on data that states, "Men commit more crime based on the fact they make up 80.6% of arrests." Except if you do further research you will find "Yes, crime data and their subsequent calculations and analyses are widely recognized by experts, researchers, and government bodies as being susceptible to significant biases and limitations. This is due to a variety of factors, including underreporting (men under reporting) of crimes, police discretion (typically against men) , and systemic inequalities (black men and mexican men) in the justice system." Also, Crime data is based on both reported crimes and arrests, but it is crucial to understand the difference: reported crime data reflects crimes that are reported to law enforcement, while arrest data reflects the number of arrests made by police. These two sets of data do not tell the same story because many crimes go unreported and not all reported crimes result in an arrest. (All in which information provider earlier is biased against men, which causes a very biased calculation of data; that being the reason for "men commit more crimes"
- Research indicates that teachers tend to be harsher on boys regarding discipline but may exhibit a grading bias that favors girls, even for similar academic performance. This suggests that bias exists, but its manifestation differs depending on the context (behavior vs. grades).
Disciplinary Bias
Boys receive harsher punishment for the same behavior problems as girls including assault. Studies have found that early childhood behavioral issues have a more significant negative effect on high school and college completion rates for boys than for girls, compounded by the harsher disciplinary response from schools.
Boys are often viewed through a lens that expects more restlessness or behavioral challenges, and when they do not conform to the "ideal student" stereotype (which often aligns with typical female behavior like sitting quietly and following rules), they are more likely to be disciplined.
Some research suggests that the large proportion of female teachers (especially in elementary schools) may contribute to this, as they may more easily identify with girls' behaviors and interests, while some boys may respond less to female authority figures. (U.S. News and World Report)
Everything I've listed and provided research for shows that every one of the disparity men have outweighed women, and every advantage, (primarily the actual law, where lives are ruined and spared) has outweighed men. Even the privilege you've listed that "men earn more" is not even equal to the fact that women who are aggressors of crime receive lesser sentences. Also men earning more isn't a privilege, a privilege is something that's unearned. Where have men not earned these wages?
The debate had a lot more girth to this, but this is all I will post on here. She has yet to respond. But this just pisses me off because the way she was going about it was constantly saying "Nope, men privileged because men" when the only privileges came minute to issues, and the issues came and outweighed hers. Anyways, yeah I'm pissed. But how'd I do?
