I was at the gym, and I saw a woman who appeared to be finished with her equipment. I needed two of the barbell clips she was using for later, so I took them. The woman didn't say anything. I walked back over to my bench and I did a set of bench presses. Shortly after, some guy comes over to me and initiates conversation:

Him: "Are you using those clips?"

Me: "Not right now, but I will be in a second."

Him [accusatory tone]: "She was using those, and you took them from her. You can't do that."

Me: "I didn't know that she was..."

He cuts me off, and grab the clips from me and return them to her. About 5 minutes later, the woman approaches me with a sheepish grin on her face and asks me if I would like the clips back, clearly embarrassed by the actions of the white knight.

Analysis

This incident was funny because if the woman wanted the clips back, she could have just asked me for them, and I would have gladly given them back to her. She didn't need a big, tough, alpha male stranger to step in and confront the "bad guy" who took them from her... but this guy decided that apparently that's what women need.

What's even funnier about this is that the woman wasn't even hot. The guy wasn't white knighting because he was trying to get laid. He was doing it because this sort of behaviour was ingrained in him.

What's worse is that what he did pissed me off. I'm a chill guy, so everything turned out ok, but if I was an unstable or aggressive person, he would have had a fight on his hands. Not only was he white knighting for no practical reason at all, and for no benefit to himself, but he was risking starting a fight over it.

Is the white knight to blame for his actions? No. The reason for this is that he was brought up by the feminist establishment to sacrifice himself to meet the whim of every woman around him. He was brought up to believe that his physical safety is less important than helping a woman deal with a minor inconvienence. He didn't even know this woman, yet seemed to think it was important to risk starting a fight over a minor inconvienence for her. This illustrates the concepts of male expendability, and the effect of the matriarchy on the values and upbringing of men.
