In the animal kingdom, of which humans are a part of, males compete with each other for access to females. The most basic form of this is physical combat. For most animals, the males are the most sexually successful when they are in their fighting prime and able to beat other males in combat.

Homo Sapiens emerged roughly 300,000 years ago. We share several similarities to many mammals, and are most similar to primates. However we are quite divergent from other animals due to our greatly expanded frontal cortex which allows us to reason, use logic, and utilize tools far better than other animals.

Human males, like other animals, compete with other males for females but do it in more ways than physical combat. Males tend to compete with each other through physicality without combat (Proving they are taller, more handsome, and more muscular than competing males). Through verbal and social combat for status, and through resource accumulation.

On rare occasions men still fight each other over women. The human male fighting prime is somewhere between 27 and 38 if you go by UFC champions. If you go by heavyweight champions (the highest weight class) the fighting prime becomes roughly 29 to 41.

Astonishingly these age ranges are also the same age ranges where men have the greatest access to prime age females aged 18-35. In modern times due to westernization younger men tend to have more access to younger women than do prime fighting age men, but these young men have very limited access to women older than themselves because most women typically do not like much younger men until they themselves are over 40.

30-40 is the best age range for men to have wide access to women as long as they are equivalent in dominance and attraction to prime fighting age animals (meaning they can out compete other men of all ages). Men under 30 usually don’t do well with women over 30 and lack resources. Many still live with their mom for example. Meanwhile men over 40 have to begin relying more on status and resources as a bargaining chip unless they can maintain their youthful physicality and dominance.
