Yes, but in the context of their own identity.

If they use such archetypes as a mark, it is like a parody. If they use those archetypes as guidelines for dressing and behaviors and hobbies, I think it can be beneficial for men.

It is kind like a religion. You adopt a religion to adapt some common values that transcend you personally, but also in politics, philosophy, collective hobbies, etc.

I think you are putting the cart before the horse somewhat

A big reason these guys do okay is because they belong to a social circle related to the hobby

Surfers do well with surfer chicks because they hang out where surfer chicks are at, it is less so because they look and dress like a surfer

Tailoring your whole persona to one thing and in order to get chicks…is what is weird to me…maybe it’s because I’m older and an individualist

I could never respect myself if I did as you say

I'm an archetype/nichemaxxed woman and let me tell you you need to be careful what niche you try to fit into. I am 100% committed to my bit but I have almost died several times living this lifestyle. If you don't have that kind of dedication, just don't try it.

Men just need to be or do something that impresses a woman enough that, if she tells her friends, then they’ll at least be somewhat impressed. I don’t think that they need to go so far as to fit a stereotype.

First and foremost you have to be comfortable being whatever this archetype is. If you are deciding between a few things and girls are a motivating factor, pick the archetype you think the archetypical girl that you like would like.

It’s more important just to have a hobby that creates a mixed social circle. All of these “types” have hobbies or lifestyles that get them out of the house. If you like the aesthetic and naturally have a lot of the associated personality traits that’s fine, if not that’s fine too. If you’re trying too hard to fit a certain stereotype, that could come off cringe, but once again the most important thing is that you do get out into mixed-gender spaces.

Usually the issue arises when you’re a guy who comes straight home from work, plays video games or watches tv, and goes to bed, every day of the week. And then on the weekends it’s the same thing except the bros come over. It’s not so much that you don’t fit a stereotype but that your stereotype isn’t regularly socializing with women.

When I was in highschool I was a nerd, in uni I beefed up at the gym and on nights out I got drunk and played the cool guy. It worked, acting like a jock, but things then didnt last long when they figured out I wasnt such a cool guy 😂

I think men should follow or at least acknowledge a trend or stereotype to base their appearance on but not to the point of performance. The point is to wear the right clothes to attract the type of women that are most compatible with you.

It’s important to note that trying to be someone you aren’t will not be sustainable, the point is to signal to people who you are so they know what to expect. I believe this is what y’all call niche maxing but you need to understand that you will not be universally liked or seen as attractive by every woman and that’s okay. Focus on the women you actually want and be attractive to them.

Idk man. I’m just a regular type dude with a big ass dick. Never had a problem meeting women for a one night wonder or a relationship - in college, in law school, or afterwards. I’m Married now for 10 years and counting (together for 14), 3 kids, etc. to the best woman in the world. Honestly, just be a normal f’ing human being and you’ll do OK.

Nah I like guys who aren't just one note. My bf likes rock and metal and plays guitar, but is also a geeky gamer guy who watches anime. At the same time, I like that he can dress up for nice occasions and not just look "schlubby" and we can travel and go to museums together.

Women are usually socially obcessed so assuming any social "meme" will make you more desireable.

No. I think men (and women) should just get on with their lives, being decent people by balancing their wants and needs with the needs of society, and seeking out their own path through life. I don't think people should strive to fit into little boxes and be labelled. Labelling is limiting and tribalistic.

And I completely disagree with your usage of the word 'bland.' A person who makes their entire identity/persona about their hobby or fashion or niche interest is very very bland.

Don’t be “the guy that ____”

Have passions and hobbies but don’t make these passions and hobbies your personality.

Unless you’re making BIG money doing these things, I’m going to guess that women find it unattractive if your personality is wrapped up in materialistic things and activities.

Ideally, you could take a piece of ALL of the men you described above.

I think the man that could relate to all of the above men would have a way wider net of potential partners to cast, rather than burrowing himself into a corner where only a select type of women are attracted to him.

Yes and no. Men do need to be aware that women really see in stories. A man's look and style create a narrative in a woman's mind. Men should be cognizant of what narrative they are projecting, without becoming too self-conscious or manipulative about it. A man also wants his narrative to be unique, and not entirely cliched. Be YOU as the tanned surfer dude, if you do surf; don't just be some walking cliche of a surfer dude, full of affectation.
