I call it Perseus's Razor: "Do not attribute to hypergamy that which can be adequately explained as female reproductive strategy." (I know I messed up the title)

Hypergamy, as commonly defined in Red Pill circles, means "The propensity of women to marry or engage in sexual relationships with men of higher status." Now the higher status part can be anything from social status, to economic wealth, to looks, influence, celebrity etc. The point is women look to engage with men that they perceive as higher than themselves in a hierarchy.

I see a lot of men missattributing women's behavior as hypergamous when women go out in the world seeking men with status and resources when in hard biological and evolutionary fact these women are simply acting on their natural impulse for self-preservation which is conducive toward procreation.

Look: The meaning of life on a biological level is to have offspring. And thus every living creature alive right now including you is biologically primed towards that end. Your goal in life is to survive long enough to make babies. That is it!

So keeping that in mind it is therefore reasonable to assume that the bulk of our core instincts - those that emanate from the lizard brain - are primed to drive us towards that end.

Women's sexual reproductive strategy is to not just to have babies but to provide for them by securing for herself the best male provider. This is because, unlike other females of other species, human females are as vulnerable during and then after having babies. Pregnant women cannot run and they cannot fight, and in a hard environment they cannot hunt, work, or forage for themselves. Think of a mother bear for comparison, or any other animal where the female is very physically capable of providing and defending her babies. Women are very vulnerable during and then after pregnancy. They rely on both the male and the community to provide, protect, and care for them and thus their most basic instinct is to feel most attracted to the best male provider that is more than just virile but who is also going to stick with her through the hard times and look after her.

Now that does not necessarily mean the Alpha Male - as alpha males can be unpredictable and insecure meatheads. Women are most attracted to men that they can trust and trust comes with her ability to be able to predict a safe and benevolent and most of all RELIABLE behavior from a man towards her. Why? Because her literal survival depended on it for millennia.

Another curiosity about women is that they are very keen on men who are self motivated and women tend to mirror the men that they like. If a guy is passionate about something most women naturally get on board with it and feed from his enthusiasm and become interested in a man's passion themselves. This is women's survival strategy down to brass tacks. They adapt themselves to men the way men adapt to the physical environment. Women make very good helpmates when they are invested and they earnestly apply themselves into a man's life when they feel they can rely on him and shows benevolence towards her while displacing his more masculine traits like aggression and competition away from her. Women are attracted to strong men that they can feel safe with.

And by strength I mean physical as well as mental/emotional which is why women have a physical and emotional preference for height, health, and behaviors that display strength (not necessarily dominance) security, and stability. Women just want what is best for themselves - it's self preservation!

But Briffault's Law Still applies. A woman will be attracted and intrigued as long as you are providing a value to her. The moment you stop providing that value she walks.

My point is that hypergamy is only an observation of women's behavior, it is not an explanation. I am arguing that hypergamy is just a side effect of women's reproductive strategy which has a heavy emphasis on self-preservation by means of male service. Women's instinctual desire for self preservation is the true cause of their Hypergamy. Self-preservation is the cause; Hypergamy is the effect.

Therefore: Do not attribute to Hypergamy that which can be adequately explained as female reproductive strategy.

Hypergamy is that which women do; self-preservation is the reason why they do it. Understand this and you will understand Female Nature more accurately. It shouldn't be a great shock to say that women are just looking out for #1 and have an instinctive pre-emptive strategy for the little #2 that she is going to give birth to.
