Hypothesis:

Assuming that 80% of women go for the 20% of men, labeled as 'top men', men are complaining that they can't get laid as often as women have the potential to get laid. A solution to this problem could be to support, promote and cherish marriages again. My thought process is, that if we promote marriages again the top men would be quickly married and not available anymore of the rest of the women. The rest of the women now have to adjust their requirements and standards to what is available and they will go and pick the top men from what is left of the men who are available. In short, this would be the pareto principle on repeat as long as most, if not all, are married and have a partner. If we now can magically achieve people comparing themselves to others all of these marriages would be happy marriages.

In case the above text is too convoluted, we can calculate it through with an example. The ratio of men to women is roughly 1:1 as far as I remember. So, let us say there are 100 men and 100 women.

80% of women go and compete for the top 20% of and get paired off through marriage. To keep it simple let's assume monogamous marriages. Then we would be left with 80 men and 80 women, because women competed and the ones who won grabbed the top 20 men.

Now the circle repeats. 80% of available women, in our case now 64 women (80% of 80 women), compete for the top 20% of available men, in our case now 16 men (20% of 80 men). They get paired off and we are now left with 64 women and 64 men.

...

This circle would now repeat itself until all men and women get paired off. I didn't calculate it to the end but due to the pareto principle we probably would have very small numbers of men and women who can't get paired off, because there simply aren't enough men available in this closed off thought experiment.
