Recently made new contact with two women. I expressed interest early on by flirting with them and being direct and clear about my intentions. Confirmed their relationship status. One of them even asked about grabbing lunch together. In this case, it would be okay to fall into the friendzone after I shot my shot. However, supposed that I just decided to befriend them and make a move later on as I become familiar with them... that’s where most guys screw up. As some have said, in a different way, the friendzone is a myth created by men who are upset that they don't know how to tell if a woman is interested in them romantically or platonically. So more than learning that, the question is why does this happen? From a woman's perspective, she's never done anything that even hinted at romance & when a man, who seems to be her friend, suddenly announces that he wants to date her, & discovers she never saw him that way, they either try to stay connected & slowly fall apart, often becoming angry at the end that they feel so abused, or they go right to anger that they were misled by the woman. The woman never misled the man, & now she realizes they were only friends because the man saw their interactions as transactional, if I treat you nice, you will date/sleep with me, & even if a woman is interested in dating, that itself is a big red flag.

The problem for modern men is that they don't know much about relationships, platonic or romantic, & they are often friendless or hang out with people they aren't really close to. And when they find a woman who is willing to tolerate them, or likes them as a person & maybe a friend, the man divests all his emotional needs into that woman.

This can also happen when you do end up dating. Soon the woman is your family, your best friend, your only friend, your entire support system, your therapist, the woman teaching you how to be an adult & do your own laundry or wash dishes & cook meals. And most modern women want a life partner, not a man child they have to sleep with. Women want to be respected as people, not a transaction of treatment for sex or homecare.

And when you pour all of your human needs into a woman, she can either get completely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of attention & focus the man needs, or men begin to get more demanding & jealous, if the woman has other friends, he gets upset that she wants to see them, especially if any of men, because for men, all men are threats & no woman can be trusted to be faithful, & these negative issues either become outright abusive & controlling or make the woman want to leave.

So rather than come to an online group to get hints on how to seduce women, men should listen to women when they share their experiences, perspectives & desires. They should especially avoid listening to any men that want to sell them something, because the majority of men looking to sell experience, plans, life coaching, etc are deliberately preying on men's fears, anxieties & anger, to make $ & get some power.

Instead, focus on being a good human, find hobbies, learn how to communicate, learn how to listen, learn how to show feelings, how to express yourself, learn these things unconnected to a woman you desire, learn these things because they will enhance & improve your entire life AND will make you a more desirable partner for someone.

Women have egos too and also like to protect themselves from rejection, so if she’s unsure about you, she’ll quickly move you to the friend zone. So to avoid that, make your interest known clearly. Let her know you're into her. Don't hide it. Show her that you like her. When you meet, it should be a date, not a chill hangout just cause. Every time you meet outside of work or school or whatever should be a date to her and you, not just meeting for the sake of having another person around. Don't be afraid to show her that you are into her. Tell her you like like her relatively soon. Not that you love her, that's usually a bit much to begin with. But, just be open about your feelings. Here is an idea, use her to hook you up with her friends friends. Social circle dating is a strategy. She only friend zoned you if she's not feeling it. It could be your style, personality etc. But trust me girls have crushes on their friends/coworkers.

The problem with friend zone is "oneitis". So it's not about avoiding the friend zone, because you can't do anything about that. It's about realizing that being her friend is step 1 in a long journey. She may develop feelings later or you can help expand your social circle which will make you attractive to other women.

So if this is about a particular girl, just go out there and be yourself and not attached to the outcome. Either way it's a win win.
