The madonna/whore dichotomy has been tolerated in men for most history. It was up to the woman or her family to regulate her behavior to become marriageable, hence the focus on male investment in relationships. The tendency of [some] men to put women in the whore or girlfriend box is expected, therefore men don't need to signalize their decency, they only need to signalize their willingness to commit. Or at least this was the case until recently. In a certain way this is a form of power as you don't need to give up your sexual desires to be accepted as a partner once you get tired of fucking around (or trying to).

A lot of women are starting to do the same because they know it's not fair for them to live up to standards just to be accepted by men who never had to live up to those standards themselves. Plenty of men simply can't cope with the fact that they're being treated in the same way they treat women, but they're aware of their own hypocrisy.

You are 100% correct, Red Pill men do the exact same thing but it does not affect their “final” partner the same way.

The Red Pill guy plows his way through mediocre promiscuous girls in his youth and later in life he might settle for a modest, low N count “good girl”. The thing is that the red piller VALUES the good girl, he has seen what most young women are doing and to him a woman with self control is higher value and a more desirable partner to form a family. The good girl gets marriage, resources, sex and love.
