As someone who is deeply involved in Open Source Software, this is spot on.

Cant tell you how many projects Ive seen fall to these SJWs. Good thing the Linux kernel is keeping these idiots out.

[–]Krissam 124 points125 points126 points 8 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

We're not allowed to reject pull requests anymore :(

[–]HenryCurtmantle 22 points23 points24 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If this were in the UK I would leave on the spot and take them to a tribunal for constructive dismissal.

If you operate your business on merit alone, you will inevitably have to reject some blacks, women and whatnot. But they want you to discriminate on grounds of colour and sex, contrary to statute.

[–]TheCrippledLame 20 points21 points22 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What happened after that?

[–]Krissam 33 points34 points35 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Issue was deleted, which can onlyu be done by github admins, not by maintainers or repository owners.

Even the Django Software Foundation has adopted one to protect it's future.

This is the goal. Nazism.

[–]hotpotato70 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I just read through the link, and I didn't see where it says everyone's code should be accepted, as the person claims should happen. That would be an insane policy, and would sink projects unless they immediately accept a request to revert garbage code.

Am I missing something?

[–]Krissam 46 points47 points48 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The OP is literally arguing that he shouldn't have declined the pull request because the author is a PoC

[+]hotpotato70 -13 points-12 points-11 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Maybe I wasn't specific, I read what you're saying, but that same person provided the link https://archive.is/o/dgilk/contributor-covenant.org/, and I don't see where in their policy it says to accept all code from PoC. Like where did he get his info?

Although I don't really like how they marginalize false reports here https://www.ashedryden.com/blog/codes-of-conduct-101-faq#cocfaqfalseaccusations

[–]comrade-jim 14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Look at the mental gymnastics on this guy^

[–]boxsterguy 14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's an overzealous SJW reading what they want into an otherwise mostly benign code of conduct (although the source of that code of conduct is suspect in its neutrality). If nothing else, projects adopting this code of conduct give you an easy way to know which projects aren't worth contributing to.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep, I've seen it first-hand in several developer communities.

The Ruby Rogues podcast is recovering from an SJW meltdown. The upside: real technical content is coming back.

[–]ramblinghambling 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Never listened to them but, technical content I like. What happened? What sort of sjw meltdown was there?

[–]sumocc 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I used tinder around Mountain View, CA recently and many of the hardcore SJW there worked as well either at google or Facebook. I mean the short purple hair type, Who mention 12 sexual orientation in her profile. I wonder, especially after the story with the google employé who got fired if these companies will eventually collapses

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Google has enough zillions that it would take quite a while. Kind of like Sauron's tower.

[–]maokei 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I have not heard of this being a problem in open source appart from Linux kernel which got shot down quickly. Got any examples?

I know from a fact that the NPM CEO is a complete SJW munchkin, he stated on twitter before that he wanted to see more black people at conferences and block everyone that sayd that competing on merit instead of skin color is the way to go.

[–]njullpointer 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the same garbage is now infecting freebsd since the useless sjw's got kicked out of the linux kernel (not before causing havoc, of course, with bitching and moaning and dragging of names through the mud) because they were just plain shit at coding.

Reddit as a whole

[–][deleted] 30 points31 points32 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

The concept of upvoting for visibility is literal sheeple infrastructure.

The most valuable comments have always been, (and until we're a perfect species) will continue to be controversial.

[–]_I_AM_BATMAN_ 29 points30 points31 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree.

Upvoting for visibility.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I actually find it funny how much people think that they're free thinkers for getting all of their information about the world from reddit. I've noticed after five years on this site that comments on certain topics are overwhelmingly the same thing said again and again, post after post, year after year. Five years ago the conversations reddit was having about, say, Japanese politics, are identical to the ones reddit is having about Japanese politics today.

Reddit is overwhelmingly middle-class to rich Americans and Western Europeans reposting shit that they read on reddit before. It's mind numbing at times how clueless they are.

The upvote/downvote system is behaviorist conditioning. It's the dogs salivating at the sound of a bell. Pavel's theories on learning and social conditioning are out of date, to say the least, but they hold true for much of reddit: people are positively reinforced for having majority opinions and punished for having minority opinions.

[–]Mutedthenbanned 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I buy into this too.

[–]BroaxXx 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

The most valuable comments have always been, (and until we're a perfect species) will continue to be controversial.

That doesn't really make sense. Many controversial comments are very valuable (probably the most valuable) and we shouldn't shun some opinion because it's not popular.

That being said there's no shortage of utter bullshit being said on any sub. Sometimes the most controversial comments are simply shit.

I misread his original statement. Sorry everyone.

[–]jeegte12 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sometimes the most controversial comments are simply shit.

he didn't say controversial comments are valuable. he said that valuable comments are controversial.

[–]BroaxXx 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're right. My bad, thanks for clarifying.

[–]jeegte12 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time." -Winston Churchill

[–]rebuildingMyself 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And Digg before that. And Facebook before that...

[–]Chojiki 48 points49 points50 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's some important steps missing though.

  • Step Seven: Because SJWs never create, only destroy; the space having been purged of it's original inhabitants, slowly dies.

  • Step Eight: The waning popularity causes a exodus of SJW as their space is no longer popular/profitable/influential enough for them to manipulate society with. The inhabitants who stuck around are left to scrounge through the waste to try and rebuild. This inevitably fails as they usually try to rebuild using the new rules instituted under SJW control. The older inhabitants: those who drove creation, discussion, or innovation left during Step Five to try and create a community in a new form elsewhere. The popularity of these communities rises and begins to become acknowledged in mainstream society.

  • Rinse & Repeat.

Nope. Personal. And rumor has it this was a witch hunt from Resetera (aka NeoGaf 2.0), before which nobody cared.

[–]treoni 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Okay now that's a big nono.

[–]treoni 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I still don't see the problem. If you go on the internet and shout: "Open the borders!" or something, then it's lauded and allowed. But if you say "Let's decrease the poverty amongst our own citizens before trying to fix poverty in other countries." you're suddenly a racist scumbag...

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Let's decrease the poverty amongst our own citizens before trying to fix poverty in other countries."

Fixing poverty isn't a right wing view lol. I'd call that left wing nationalist.

The left has somehow managed to convince black people that segregation is a good thing.

[–]AustinSA907 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

As an Eagle, Boy Scouts decided to welcome girls in as a way to boost numbers following a string of stupid, self-inflicted wounds that I blame on it’s ties with religious organizations (particularly the Mormon church). The Girl Scouts of America were actually pissed as hell that we did it too.

I’m finally proud of the direction of national scouting, don’t take that and warp it.

[–]nforne 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I dunno. I understand something had to change, but take a look at Scouting in the UK and where that headed.

It's been some time now since girls started being admitted. Badges were renamed to be more inclusive, and many of the male leaders left and were replaced by women. The uniforms were changed too, to appeal more to girls.

This effort to accommodate girls certainly worked, and today boys make up only 25% of new recruits. The leadership are scratching their heads about how to recruit more boys, while still promoting the increase in girls as a big success.

I think the problem is not with older Scouts. Once their hormones start kicking in, they're happy to be around the opposite sex. With younger kids, who make up the vast majority of new recruits, it's different. Boys tend not to want girls around and vice versa.

So today, girls get to choose between the all-girl environment of Girlguiding (which is going from strength to strength... hmmm... I wonder why), or the mixed but female-dominated Scouting. Boys get no choice, and appear to be leaving for activities that naturally segregate many of the girls away, like football clubs (which themselves admit girls, though fewer join by choice).

[–]BobbyJeffles -3 points-2 points-1 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

to be fair, boy scouts is actually a lot better than girl scouts. I don't blame them for wanting to be in boy scouts.

There should just be 'scouts', in that case, because it doesn't make sense to open one and not the other.

And I'm willing to bet that they'll close after the lock-in contracts expire, or change the policies back. Of course changing the policies back might end up being too late to save the business.

a lot of the women left after they noticed there were no men

Hmmm, almost as if men have intrinsic value.

I'm really tired of hearing that women are more valuable than men followed by that typical flawed reproductive limiting factor argument.
Stop buying into bullshit guys, don't sell yourselves short. Women want us as much as we want them.

[–]belyaal 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Was this the result of feminist activism or was it a business decision? I don’t disagree with you, exclusion is happening there. But what is the motivation.

[–]Troflmao 75 points76 points77 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The 3rd-wave feminist movement is loud but it doesn't actually have that many people behind it. My mom was a nurse for 20 years (a very female dominated profession, she was also a devout feminist) and she's constantly advocating for men to go into nursing. She said a female dominant workplace is frusterating for everyone, the men add a lot of balance and most female nurses love having male coworkers. Not only this but a lot of patients would prefer to have a male nurse look after them for personal reasons. Women need to get this "everything would be better if men weren't around" fantasy out of their heads. Careful what you wish for, it's not like women are perfect either.

Relating this back to the post, most women at this gym probably really don't care about women's only gym time and like the social aspect of being able to meet guys at the gym (potential friend/lovers with common interests). But if just a few SJWs band together and get angry enough about it then the gym is forced to make changes to its schedule to keep them from literally protesting the place. It's more and more often you see this happen, businesses making drastic changes that most people didn't even ask for and suffering because of it, all just for the ideal comfort of misandrists.

[–]PanderjitSingh 42 points43 points44 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Third (etc.) wave feminists make policy for most western governments and many corporations. Anyone advising we ignore them is at best a Quisling.

[–]reggie-hammond 15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are 100% correct. And they certainly AREN'T a small minority. They're just a lot more selective and strategic than the "dumb young girls with pink hair".

[–]Troflmao 15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well in a sense yes. I'm perfectly willing to hear the pov of a feminist until she starts using men as a scapegoat for all the world's problems, at which point i ignore what she's saying because it's sexist. I think most people, women included, feel this way about these people we just don't speak up against them out of fear of all the backlash.

[–]west415bill 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Almost always best to at least hear them out first, most times when they start the scapegoating, they're just tying their own noose with all the rope ya gave them by listening.

But that backlash is DEFINITELY a force to be reckoned with... It's why a lot of folks stay quiet despite their beliefs and views in places like California. Way too many SJW/Feminist types that carry big entourages.

[–]reggie-hammond 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Older/middle aged women are either "completely sound and logical" bc they've lived and learned from reality or else they are third rail crazy after a lifetime of frustration and bitterness.

Your mother sounds like the former, which is great. But the latter has them outnumbered by a good margin. I think you're assuming the numbers are skewed bc you have so much interaction with your mom.

[–]JackBond1234 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Turning away customers seems like a pretty bad business decision

[–]PanderjitSingh 25 points26 points27 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Would you be asking if it looked like the company was accommodating race bigots rather than sex bigots? To spell it out: if the gym were accommodating racists who insisted on ‘European only’ hours would you still respect their business decision?

[+]belyaal -16 points-15 points-14 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

If a woman prefers to workout on all female days is she a sex bigot? If I had to guess I’d that’s not her motivation.

[–]PanderjitSingh 21 points22 points23 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

‘Woman Good, Man Bad’. I get it; you’re a feminist.

[+]belyaal -11 points-10 points-9 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not at all. I think feminism is broken. I think it’s gone too far. Attributing the changes at this gym to feminism isn’t necessarily true though. I’m quite sick of the cultural meme that women are good and men are bad. Feminism has more social capital though and the way this sub attacks it takes away from the real issues. But hey it’s the internet, not like real discourse can take place here anyway.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Attributing the changes at this gym to feminism isn’t necessarily true though.

But one of the core messages behind it has influenced it. Insofar as if you try to start anything for men only, there will be loud protests and boycotts because "Men only spaces are misogynistic". That is, until you concede to their demand of inclusion. Look at the flack hobbies like video games still get for their "Misogyny" and "Exclusion".

I’m quite sick of the cultural meme that women are good and men are bad.

Yeah, and feminism refused to fight this. Even though they bill the movement as for equality.

Feminism has more social capital though and the way this sub attacks it takes away from the real issues.

Not exactly. A very minuscule portion of women and men identify as feminists. The rest agree with what it USED to be about but are casting a wide berth due to the damage it has done to men in order to elevate women instead of keep them on an even keel with their counterparts.

And yeah, I disagree that attacking feminism takes away from the real issues because, again, they did, and continue to do, terrible damage to gender relations. They're the ones front in line to protest any proposal in support of men like Shared Parenting and a Gender Neutral approach to Domestic and Sexual Abuse.

[–]JcbAzPx 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If it was a business decision it would have been immediately undecided as soon as they lost most of their business.

[–]Remerez 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I honestly couldn't tell you.

[–]treoni 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Reminds me of "Ladies At The Movies". It's a day every once in a while organized at our national cinema chain where only women are allowed. They get workshops, gifts, goody bags, coupons and this year there was a car you could win if you wrote something with a sharpie on it. My girl even won a Victoria necklace!

Combat units of the US military

This is a serious issue which put a lot of men’s life in danger. Whether it’s liked or not, average woman is strong as an average 14yo boy, and I don’t even count the speed/endurance/mental traits. The notion that men must die so that women can feel better about themselves is sadistic, and this is why men mustn’t join the military in the United States.(it never served the common man but since around Gulf, it literally serves the mainstream lunacy)

Uni it has been happening a lot. Groups and clubs are banned based on whether they agree with the people who act like this. Political Groups, social groups etc.

Not the part where an organization opened called the girl scouts which does not allow men into the group while simultaneously campaigning against the boy scouts becoming a men only group again.

Apparently girls need a space with only other women.

And boys don't need a space with only men. They need to be inclusive.

[+]belyaal -10 points-9 points-8 points 8 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

The Boy Scouts has traditionally been a male only organization. I’d be interested to know what group or to see any media coverage concerning this. The most recent thing I recall was the Boy Scouts flirting with the idea of allowing girls, citing low membership.

BOY scouts. You know, an organization for BOYS that helps build character and offers guidance.

There is already GIRL scouts for girls. Problem is, the people running it are so incompetent as to not tailor their programs along the line of what boys receive in their organization to fit a building desire from the female membership.

[–]timo103 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

They've been trying to force more "diversity" into 40k for about a year. Trying to retcon space marines into women, completely ignoring sisters of battle because they don't actually give a shit about the series. They just see that it's a hobby enjoyed by men and that they have to force themselves into it.

They never wanted to actually play the game or enjoy the series/lore, they just want to be included. and then exclude men form their hobby.

They claim there's no african american space marines when there's a ton, not to mention the emprah himself isn't white

It legitimately happened the way it is in the OP. But 40k fans fought back against them trying to take over their hobby.

edit: you can also just paint the fucking models whatever you want

[–]draino_chugger 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's been a while since I was into 40k, but I seem to recall the Salamanders(?) chapter being entirely "black" canonically and most chapters recruited from large and varied enough populations/planets that your army could be painted whatever skintone you like without really breaking lore. And as far as xenos or chaos goes, you can pretty much do whatever you want.

As for female space marines... As I understand the fluff (as of the early 00's at least), even if you did put a female through that process, wouldn't the result be effectively a huge, sterile, male-presenting monster regardless? And how would you depict a female space marine on the table? Because I thought we were supposed to be against boob-plates now.

The workplace in the last 50 years. A few of coworkers were written up for telling a joke within the hearing of a female co-worker. In the late 90's at AT&T I saw three white guys get fired and replaced with a black woman and two white women.

Recently, gaming's Gamergate comes to mind.

At the gym, a special women-only workout area was created, which reduced overall space for the general public.

STEM scholarships are offered to women, which is a zero-sum game. A guy loses out on that open student spot at the university's program, which has a student enrollment limit.

Really, any organization with affirmative action and or quota hiring is a zero-sum game against men.

[–]EasternChildhood 43 points44 points45 points 8 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

The entire political "left" in the Western world comes to mind. I'm not sure the designation "leftist" even make sense any more, since SJW's have very little in common with the traditional left as it existed in the west. The traditional left defended civil liberties including freedom of speech, opposed imperialistic wars, and focussed mostly on class issues. To the extent that they focussed on race and sex they tried to overcome such issues in the name of equal treatment.

The first major labor union in the US, the Knights of Labor, was created mostly by white males; it also allowed women and blacks. The Industrial Workers of the World, founded in the early 20th century by mostly white males, again allowed women and blacks (and unskilled workers). The Democratic Party under Roosevelt, which institutionalized the right to strike, abolished child labor and made various other reforms, gained most of its support from working class white males.

Fast forward to today. "Straight white males" are rhetorically attacked by Democratic Party politicians, functionaries and journalists; the NDP in Canada wants to prevent "straight while males" from being nominated when a seat is vacated; and the Labor Party in the UK recently banned straight while males from its youth conference.

"Intersectional feminists" and SJW's are essentially useful idiots for the plutocracy. They encourage maximum division based on race, sex, etc. while downplaying or even ignoring class issues. This is remarkably similar to what the robber barons did in the late 19th century during the Gilded age. The net effect of these "strategies" will be to encourage more and more white males to vote for far right wing parties, who at least pretend to represent their interests. It's almost like billionaires are funding both sides...

But of course this doesn’t bug the Western feminist because her dislike of Western man trumps her love of Eastern woman.

When I pointed out that most staff were women, I was told the group was necessary because the top management was mostly male.

I'm gay and I don't want straight people in gay clubs, for multiple reasons.

  • Straight guys fight each other and act out impress women. There's basically zero violence I gay clubs otherwise

  • In some gay subcultures behaviour that's considered "sexual harassment" in the straight world is perfectly acceptable. I don't want straight men getting insulted or violent if they get hit on or felt up

  • I don't want to navigate through a sea of straight guys to find someone to suck my cock. That's baically the rest of the world outside of gay spaces

  • Women are obnoxious when drunk and in groups and I don't want to deal with them

  • Because there are so many more straight people, spaces that become popular with them can easily be completely overrun, defeating the purpose of having gay clubs in the first place

[–]jakemasterj 24 points25 points26 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So your saying that getting involuntarily groped isn't sexual harassment/assault in the gay community? Because I know a LOT of gay people who would say that's bullshit.

It depends heavily on your age group and subculture. The Reddit gay community is in no way indicative of mainstream gay culture and specially not when it comes to specific subcultures. Like the rest of Reddit it trends towards very young, socially awkward and neurotic. In fact, I wouldnt be surprised if I'm the oldest guy commenting here.

I live in the second gayest city in the US after P-Town (Wilton Manors, Florida) and I've got my finger on the pulse of gay culture. I actually know what I'm talking about.

Zero violence in gay bars? I’ve been violently sexually assualted in gay bars. Are you denying my lived experience? (True, but comment tongue in cheek). Pretty sure objecting to being knocked off a bar stool onto the floor and genitally groped isn’t a matter of my misunderstanding gay culture.

Oh my god, you poor baby! You got knocked off a bar stool! That's so much worse than then fist fights and rolling around in the ground I've seen at straight bars.

Actually I don't tell women anything because I live in the gay ghetto and work in an all male environment. Only woman I have regular contact with is my mother.

In the subcultures I associate with (leather, kink, bear) sexual touching (in certain contexts) is both common and not a huge deal. Even when unwanted guys will not turn themselves into victims.

I get felt up by older men I'm not necessarily attracted to at parties downtimes. It's not a fucking big deal. It happens at the bath house and sec clubs too and I fucking pay an entrance fee for the privilege.

I started going to the bathhouses I my early 20s, where you can't walk 20 feet without someone sticking their fingers in your ass or grabbing your dick. This is 100% standard behaviour in that environment so many of us that are used to similar environment having a guy reach down to see what you're packing is just not that big of a deal, even if it can be obnoxious. In some bars, clubs or parties it's more acceptable than others. In some (like a leather bar) it's downright expected.

[–]Eryemil 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Yup. You get it.

So many young gay guys bought into the bullshit that "we're just like straight people". We're human and deserve human rights but we're not the same. Which is why so many kids here on Reddit are shocked when I tell them that 50% of gay guys are or have been in an open relationship. And that number is growing.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Your personal relationships are your business, however you are entitled to the legal rights and responsibilities that everyone else is. China is a blast if you’re gay apparently. About 7 years ago I had a gay friend from Israel living in the port city Dalian who wanted to visit a gay bar. I speak Chinese so I got a number from a gay Chinese guy for a gay bar. Nobody answered but I got a call back and the dude was super cagey but when he found out I was a foreigner he was totally cool. Long story short the bar was mega hard to find, totally clandestine experience, I knew when to nope tf out and my buddy sucked and fucked his way into oblivion for his entire stay. It’s all different now with Jackd and Grindr. No need for a Chinese speaking whiteboy like me if you wanna bang. But remember it is a different experience for gay people with the one child policy forcing gay offspring to marry, plus the traditional culture. You should go, you’d have fun.

It's people like you that give this sub a bad reputation. I've browsed r/mensrights my entire time on Reddit, and never has anything as shitty as this actually helped anyone.

[–]Zepherite 22 points23 points24 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It isn't immediately clear what this has to do with Men's rights however it absolutely does have everything to do with it.

This is the method by which SJWs remove the rights of many groups, including men.

SJWs cannot change things through reasoned arguments and logic, partly because they don't have any reasoned argument to make and partly because their ideology is rooted in postmodernism i.e. nothing is true so we can only rely on relative experiences. This flies in the face of logic and reason which seek to be as objective as possible.

It's the politics of victimhood and they've become very good at it. The image OP posted is a summary of their playbook, of how they enact change without having to provide any real argument. They guilt people with good intentions into changing things under the guise of safe spaces and equality, when really it is only safe for certain groups and has nothing to do with equality.

Some areas where the tactics OP is describing are being used that I have noticed have affected me: - They have utterly infected Hollywood. - They are doing their best to use this method in politics. - They have infected the gaming press. - They are currently doing their best to make safe spaces in the Warhammer 40k and Magic the Gathering communities.

And yes they are absolutely using these tactics to erode the rights of men. Just look at the wage gap: 'I don't like that on women earn less than men on average. I feel like it must be discrimination. Change it.'

The workplace is going through steps two and three (and a little of four) right now despite the fact that the data and research, reality if you will, show us that it is due to the different choices that men and women make. Women, in general, choose jobs that are safer, have fewer hours, are less physical in nature etc. SJWs are outraged as they feel discriminated against, but reality shows women generally do different work so they earn different pay.

OPs post makes their tactics clear and will hopefully make it easier for some people to recognise them for what they are and counter them with logic and reason.

TL;DR Being able to identify SJW tactics is useful as then you can do something. OP's image highlights some of these tactics in bullet point form. This is useful many groups, including the MRM who will have to call these tactics out for what they are: trying to make the feelings of particular groups more important than reality.

[+]Wholesomeguy123 -45 points-44 points-43 points 8 years ago (29 children) | Copy Link

I fail to see how bashing them is any better. Personally I think we should take the high road. It 1: annoys the people trying to annoy us by showing that what their doing isn't working 2: gives is the moral high ground in discussion. 3: Is just much better for the rep of the sub 4: if you're religious (christianity) wouldn't it be christlike?

[–]Flawless44 75 points76 points77 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

There is a difference between disagreement and a bashing.

If I call Donald Trump a dumpster fire, that's bashing him, and would not be any better. If I call his policies a dumpster fire, and then point out what the actual problem is with them, that's a disagreement.

The OP criticizes and points out problems with feminism and SJW's. That's fair game and they should be criticized when they're wrong and hurting people/society as a whole.

The problem is that their tactics are working, they are hurting the cause of mens rights, that's why they need to be directly and openly criticized. There is no need to turn the other cheek here, even If I was religious.

Why would you bring up someone’s post history? I don’t understand this new fascination of post history on reddit. How do you have free time to go through every persons post history and then just make the vague accusation of “post history” like you are assigning a scarlet letter to them?

What if every time you commented you got multiple replies that just say “well your post history” and nothing else? Doesn’t seem constructive does it? Maybe it would be better to reply to the points of a comment instead of trying to start a post history witch hunt?

[–]oscarasimov 14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why are you judging ops post by his post history?

You are desperate for men to sit down and shut up while being pounded into the ground and out of mainstream society. Would you advise any other oppressed group in history to just shut up and take it?

That's not what I want, that's not what is happening, and that's not what I said.

Taking the moral high ground isn't the same as saying nothing, which is something I suggest you do.

[–]cain8708 28 points29 points30 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

You just told someone that silencing men isn't happening, while also commenting in the r/mensrights sub that they shouldn't say anything. Which is silencing them. I'm not sure if you saw the irony in that or not. Regardless of what they said is right or wrong, you literally just did what you said people aren't doing....

[–]Siganid 16 points17 points18 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

That's a favorite tactic of concern trolls: "Like, literally no one is doing the thing I'm doing right now. Your concerns are unjustified!"

[–]Wholesomeguy123 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think you missed that he can still talk. The "silencing of men" bit is like saying their ability to speak their mind. I just don't want people to detract from the original purpose of the sub. Ever since incels got shut down this has been getting worse.

I get that they want to voice their opinions but some things are better left unsaid.

[–]Siganid 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you study feminism, the purpose of most feminist discussion spaces has been from the beginning to provide a place to bash men.

Brainstorming what the issues are is an important part of any civil rights movement, and you came here to stop it.

[–]cain8708 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes they can still talk. But I'm looking at this as if this was an in person conversation. If we do this for most subs, and give the same when replying, we can see the level of respect the person shows. Personal insults, apologies, admitting when wrong, etc. So sure you didn't stop them from talking on an internet forum, I mean it's kind of hard to do that. But saying the same thing in public does prevent them from talking.

[–]PanderjitSingh 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

If you take the moral high ground long enough you end up bewilderedly asking ‘what happened’ as those who hate you triumph. Ask European Jews, ask Ugandan Indians, ask Chilean leftists.

Only a small minority of the feminist movement want to actually eradicate men's rights though. Most just want equal rights for women, which is a good thing.

For me this sub should be that - a sane conversation about men's issues, not a shit throwing contest about who can make the best angry memes.

Only a small minority of the feminist movement want to actually eradicate men's rights though. Most just want equal rights for women, which is a good thing.

The mainstream of feminism is interested in the MRM only to try to stop it and what we want to do. Perhaps the majority of self-identified feminists are not like that, but those who control the organizations and power are like that.

For me this sub should be that - a sane conversation about men's issues, not a shit throwing contest about who can make the best angry memes.

This meme wasn't angry. It was an accurate and mildly humorous description of a set of tactics generally employed by SJWs. It was an attempt to limit the effectiveness of these tactics by mocking them. Taking the wind out of the sails of the opponents of the MRM seems to me to fit squarely in the idea of "a sane conversation about men's issues".

[–]TacticusThrowaway 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do you have any idea how much effort feminists have spent actively trying to shut up people who talk about men's issues?

Aren't most of the people on this sub pro rape?

What could possibly give you that idea?

Or is that just the once who are also into red pill / seduction bullshit?

Men like and want to connect with women and vise versa. There is no traditional way to learn how to do this when you want to besides trial and error. Even the desire to want to learn to be social with women/men is somehow seen as there necessarily being something wrong with you. This naturally degrades into a lot of suffering and confusion for men and women alike. If you feel you can contribute to that kind of discussion constructively, people in both those subs will listen to you, but they will challenge you. Be aware though that those discussions are extremely frank and directly address problems in everyday life.

What percentage of these subs overlap?

Does it matter? What is the overlap between the niceguys sub and twox?

It's irrelevant. Judge the discussion by it's content.

[–]joedevice 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Siganid 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Child.

The process of aiding men and boys starts with identifying a problem, which often looks like criticism of another group.

You are here to make sure men and boys don't get fair treatment by stopping the process at it's beginning.

You wouldn't do this to women.

[–]Wholesomeguy123 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I certainly would, except I don't go on those subs. I honestly don't give a rat's ass about the gender of who posts stuff like this. I saw something that I thought was wrong and acted against it. [–]Brusanan 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Bashing feminism belongs in every sub.

Also, does this sub really have a bad name with anyone who matters? Only Feminists, SJWs, and people who have no idea what the MRM stands for have a problem with us. The first two are absolute cancer, and the third group often join us after they realize everything they have been told about us was sensationalism invented by the liars in the first two groups.

[–]SocietopathyObserved 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminism may be the single greatest hen stance to progress in men’s issues, so I don’t know what you’re talking about.

[–]Rex9 17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Actually doesn't mention Feminism once.

Critical of social justice warriors who are a problem for safe spaces for men. I'd say that it is a men's rights issue, as these people have a history of ferreting out men's spaces, destroying them, then interfering as much as possible in creating new ones.

[–]Wholesomeguy123 17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Did you even read the title? It literally has feminism in the title.

In any case the purpose of this sub is to promote the resolution of men's issues, not hate on other groups.

[–]DiableLord 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sometimes the sub certainly goes to far. That being said it certainly is a criticism that feminism tries to shut down conversation about men's right issues when it is brought up. Things like counter protests to men's rights calling what they are doing misogynistic to shut down conversation by using big scary labels.

[–]belyaal -3 points-2 points-1 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You critique social just warriors and at the same time lament the disappearance of “safe spaces” for men. That’s exactly the same kind of coddling sjw types promote.

[–]belyaal 20 points21 points22 points 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Yep. And the mens rights moniker is now synonymous with this stuff. Making it impossible to take it seriously.

[–]Wholesomeguy123 -17 points-16 points-15 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

That's always been my concern with posts like these. If you don't like feminism, then keep it to yourself, or speak only for yourself. When you post something like this on the sub then people will assume it is a popularly held belief, rather than a fringe one.

[–]PanderjitSingh 14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Paid feminists and privileged abusers deflecting attention to men in general.

[–]Wholesomeguy123 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm sorry could you rephrase that, I can t tell what you mean.

[–]PanderjitSingh 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m suggesting those who disagree are either professional bigots (academic feminists) or men who masquerade as feminists in order to distract attention from their own very real abuses (e.g. Harvey W., Treadeau II, Ariz Ansari, Louis CK etc.). Men with real privilege who really do abuse people and deflect attention from themselves by claiming men in general are at fault.

[–]azbiker 26 points27 points28 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I can't help to think by your comments and user name that you are: a) a feminist, B) a troll, C) all of the above. In which case, don't you have enough sites to bash men on? Or are you trying to take this small space that we have created to feel safe and share our concerns and viewpoints? Finally, you have then proven the point of the OP. Thank you.

[–]Wholesomeguy123 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Look through my fucking post history you idiot. Never have I once commented on any feminist post, I am not subbed to any of their subs, and I firmly hold the belief that men and women both have their own unique problems (because of biology, and society, and many other factors) but each group's problem isn't more important than the other's. I use r/mensrights because I am a man.

Secondly while I do certainly tell pretty shitty jokes, there isn't really any evidence of my being a troll.

Thirdly, I know very well from my several months on this sub that this is not a space for hating other people. Giving others shit doesn't make the world a better place for men and boys. What this sub is for is for having discussions about the issues we men face, and to promote community activism that will improve the lives of men and boys around the world.

Plus of you want to know the origin of my name, I got it because one of my friends kept calling me a "wholesome guy" as a joke (because I'm as boring as a slice of whole grain wheat bread)

I think people struggle to see the forest for the trees. Going after women only spaces, SJWs, and throwing Trigglypuff on the poster is a reaction to inequity. But men and boys only spaces is also something we want, hopefully we wouldn't cannabalize worthwhile co-ed groups in the process like we've seen happen the other way. Although SJWs have a negative connotation attached to them, making fun of them while calling for true social justice ourselves seems short sighted. Do some feminists only view success if women are placed higher than men? Yes. I think this group should call them out when that's their agenda. But if men's rights doesn't want to be lumped in by the middle with alt-right and incels then we should avoid lumping other people too. This group has enough facts and evidence to have a case in the issues we care about that mocking other groups is unnecessary. I understand some men are upset but this subreddit could be a person's first experience with men's rights and I think keeping it more focused on the inequalities in the world and not juvenile attacks on the people we disagree with is the only way we might see real, beneficial results in the issues that actually mean something to us and could benefit men everywhere in the long term.

This is the strategy of all minorities. They play the victim, infiltrate, get power, then use it against us. It can't be otherwise and this is why we can't let anyone in. No cilivisation can remain where mixing and immigration is allowed. It is just impossible, by definition.

[–]Zifnab_palmesano 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I half agree with you. I also saw in these rules what happens with inmigration, specially in large groups. There are two problems then: 1. The migrants do not merge and/or adopt with the host culture (which would be the polite and respectful way with the country that allows you to live), and 2. The host doesn't act against this internal movement. Inmigration is possible in small groups and controlled by the host.

[–]patriargate3 points 8 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Thanks for your comment. I'd like to add... No-one can fully integrate. You are only part of the host culture when you share everything : blood, history, language, education, experience, culture, religion, behaviours, traditions, etc. For a European to another European country, it is already extremely difficult. I know some Polish who are in France for 30 years, and still not "integrated". I know some English living in Germany for 20 years and not integrated. I know some Moroccans French living in France for 50 years and not integrated. I know Italians in Holland that are there for 100 years, and still not integrated. Integration is a total scam, honestly. Only the 4th generation is totally considered as local, and that with all the conditions above, including the skin colour and the religion.

Mass immigration indeed is the real issue. Mass immigration, even white, increases housing prices, decreases local salaries, creates gender imbalance, creates insecurity, breaks harmony, adds complexity and stress, increase the social burden and the debt, foster delocalisation, prevents local people from making families, put locals out of jobs, etc. At this stage, the one who doesn't understand the impact of immigration on a country has never seriously thought about it.

Immigration is THE issue we should talk about.

[–]nforne 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Integration is difficult for any first generation migrant. I'd hope that 2nd generation would be integrated while retaining some of the culture of their parents.

The problem is when the 1st generation dislikes or is fearful of the culture of the host country, and seeks to shield the next generation by retaining as much of their culture as possible. That's what I believe creates most tension.

[–]Zifnab_palmesano 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yhea, I mostly agree. Thanks for the comment. Mass immigration destabilizes economy and social dynamics of the host society. Regardless of any physical or cultural characteristics. I consider that goverments should take a saying on where migrants reallocate in their societies, so their impact could be minimized.

"real feminism"

Karen Straughn-

So what you're saying is that you, a commenter using a username on an internet forum are the true feminist, and the feminists actually responsible for changing the laws, writing the academic theory, teaching the courses, influencing the public policies, and the massive, well-funded feminist organizations with thousands and thousands of members all of whom call themselves feminists... they are not "real feminists".

That's not just "no true Scotsman". That's delusional self deception.

Listen, if you want to call yourself a feminist, I don't care. I've been investigating feminism for more than 9 years now, and people like you used to piss me off, because to my mind all you were doing was providing cover and ballast for the powerful political and academic feminists you claim are just jerks. And believe me, they ARE jerks. If you knew half of what I know about the things they've done under the banner of feminism, maybe you'd stop calling yourself one.

But I want you to know. You don't matter. You're not the director of the Feminist Majority Foundation and editor of Ms. Magazine, Katherine Spillar, who said of domestic violence: "Well, that's just a clean-up word for wife-beating," and went on to add that regarding male victims of dating violence, "we know it's not girls beating up boys, it's boys beating up girls."

You're not Jan Reimer, former mayor of Edmonton and long-time head of Alberta's Network of Women's Shelters, who just a few years ago refused to appear on a TV program discussing male victims of domestic violence, because for her to even show up and discuss it would lend legitimacy to the idea that they exist.

You're not Mary P Koss, who describes male victims of female rapists in her academic papers as being not rape victims because they were "ambivalent about their sexual desires" (if you don't know what that means, it's that they actually wanted it), and then went on to define them out of the definition of rape in the CDC's research because it's inappropriate to consider what happened to them rape.

You're not the National Organization for Women, and its associated legal foundations, who lobbied to replace the gender neutral federal Family Violence Prevention and Services Act of 1984 with the obscenely gendered Violence Against Women Act of 1994. The passing of that law cut male victims out of support services and legal assistance in more than 60 passages, just because they were male.

You're not the Florida chapter of the NOW, who successfully lobbied to have Governor Rick Scott veto not one, but two alimony reform bills in the last ten years, bills that had passed both houses with overwhelming bipartisan support, and were supported by more than 70% of the electorate.

You're not the feminist group in Maryland who convinced every female member of the House on both sides of the aisle to walk off the floor when a shared parenting bill came up for a vote, meaning the quorum could not be met and the bill died then and there.

You're not the feminists in Canada agitating to remove sexual assault from the normal criminal courts, into quasi-criminal courts of equity where the burden of proof would be lowered, the defendant could be compelled to testify, discovery would go both ways, and defendants would not be entitled to a public defender.

You're not Professor Elizabeth Sheehy, who wrote a book advocating that women not only have the right to murder their husbands without fear of prosecution if they make a claim of abuse, but that they have the moral responsibility to murder their husbands.

You're not the feminist legal scholars and advocates who successfully changed rape laws such that a woman's history of making multiple false allegations of rape can be excluded from evidence at trial because it's "part of her sexual history."

You're not the feminists who splattered the media with the false claim that putting your penis in a passed-out woman's mouth is "not a crime" in Oklahoma, because the prosecutor was incompetent and charged the defendant under an inappropriate statute (forcible sodomy) and the higher court refused to expand the definition of that statute beyond its intended scope when there was already a perfectly good one (sexual battery) already there. You're not the idiot feminists lying to the public and potentially putting women in Oklahoma at risk by telling potential offenders there's a "legal" way to rape them.

And you're none of the hundreds or thousands of feminist scholars, writers, thinkers, researchers, teachers and philosophers who constructed and propagate the body of bunkum theories upon which all of these atrocities are based.

You're the true feminist. Some random person on the internet.

Awe, I'm Sorry, did I hurt your feelers because I didn't even read your diatribe? Lol. You're not worth my time. Go back to your pocket pussy

[–]theDmc231 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

You're a prime example of ignorant. Someone simply presented facts to you and you refused to even acknowledge them. Instead you instantly got butt hurt. Please, help yourself to your sexual fantasies. I hate to break it to you though, I've never had the need to waste money on a piece of plastic to shove my cock into.

[–]Lovethoselittletrees -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

What the hell are you even talking about? Lol. What the fuck does your penis have to do with anything?

[–]theDmc231 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Uuuuuuhhhhhh what are pocket pussies for? You explicitly told me to return to it. Please continue with your ignorance

How is making a shitty graphic and posting it to an echo chamber helpful?

[+]Bolware -32 points-31 points-30 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

This is conservative trash. GTFO with this garbage.

[–]Krissam 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What about this is conservative?

[–]KaptenNicco12313 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link

So only conservatives make fun of feminism? What about H3H3? He voted Hillary and he makes fun of feminism. Not even this kind of extreme-radical feminism, even less extreme feminists.

I love that YouTube personalities are referenced in debate as if they matter.

Who did Jake and Logan Paul vote for? THAT'S what matters.

[–]theMCcm 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's not why it was referenced. It was referenced because it's a popular person that many people know of or can look up if they'd like to verify the claim being made.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why? Lol I didn't even address the why

[–]theMCcm 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It wasn't referenced because it's supposed to "matter". It's mentioned because of a totally different reason that has nothing to do with them being youtubers, and everything to do with being well known and verifiable.
