Advice to every woman here, including those lurking from an attorney in the states who has handled divorce and family violence cases extensively:

Never ever tell anyone that you’re pregnant unless you are 100% keeping the baby and you depend only on yourself for e v e r y t h i n g. That includes your mother and father. And I did say KEEPING the baby. If you choose to get an abortion, this advice goes double, even years down the line. Seek therapy groups but be wary of ever informing your relatives.

I’ve seen young women needing protective orders after getting a beating for asking their own parents if they could take just a Plan B which is not the abortion pill.

Exactly... many of those men get women pregnant on purpose! Definitely, do not tell them.

[–]Virgomermaid94FDS Newbie 28 points29 points30 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agree. I was lied too about a condom he took it off and put it back on after and admitted he even spat in it and commented how wet I was, I was suspicious but damn I should’ve just taken plan B just in case.

I made a post! Thanks for encouraging me!

I know it’s an anonymous website but I just always get that niggling fear that nobody cares what I have to say that’s left over from being called a bossy know-it-all during my whole academic career leading up to law school.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points19 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Please post more. I’m sure you already know this, but women who are called bossy know it all’s would be praised for their leadership qualities, intelligence, and insights if they were men.

You’re one of the few usernames that I immediately recognize because you’re so consistently on point and articulate. I know I’m just an Internet rando but I’m sure that I’m not the only one here who values your perspective.

Edit: phrasing

[–]gingerwabisabiFDS Apprentice 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I know how hurtful it can be to be called bossy for years - I knew I was and am very determined and ambitious and yes, can be "bossy," but it made me so scared of my own power and of living boldly for a long time. Early in my relationship my husband jokingly called me bossy and I teared up and asked him not to call that, he could use other words to rebuke or praise me but please not use that word. He stopped 100% and has supported me being ambitious. I am very careful whenever I hire someone or am in charge of someone in any way to think of their feelings, but have realized after multiple comments now that I am a good, thoughtful, and clear leader. All this to say, live BOLDLY and be PROUD of yourself, sister!

Excellent advice! Do NOT tell anyone that you’re pregnant unless you’ve chosen to have a baby.

With the exception of your OB/GYN, it’s literally no one else’s business what is or isn’t inside your uterus. That is privileged patient information that is protected by HIPAA law.

[–]_moonessFDS Newbie 23 points24 points25 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is deserving of its own post, what if you need help covering the cost of the abortion?

[–]tallwomenneedlovetooFDS Disciple 52 points53 points54 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I just made a post.

If you need help covering the cost of an abortion, reach out to your local planned parenthood, they WILL help you. Do NOT ever call those “pregnant and scared” billboards. Those are from churches who will try to guilt you into motherhood/adoption.

And if worse comes to worse, put it on your emergency credit card which should be ONLY in your name.

[–]chateauduchatFDS Newbie 20 points21 points22 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. My abusive narc ex told me that if I got pregnant that he would at least try to talk to me into keeping it. I am a militantly childfree, always been, always will be. To know that if at my most vulnerable, that the person who made this happen would try and persuade me in that moment to go against my long held stances, I would feel absolutely sickened because of this deep, deep betrayal.

Also, thank you for your most recent post on FDS, my long held suspicions are true about men when it comes to divorce and children. If men cared as much about children then they wouldn’t use them as pawns.

[–]TERFSareawesomeFDS Apprentice 56 points57 points58 points 5 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

And I would also add not to tell your partner you're pregnant unless you're confident you want to split 50/50 custody with them. I cannot think of anything worse than having to send my child off to spend half his time with a LVM dangerous scrote. Of course this does not apply to HVM but there are so many horrible fathers out there who will infect children with LVM attitudes or worse- be abusive in a variety of awful ways. I know if I got accidentally pregnant with most of my exboyfriends I would not have told them. I personally want kids so I would have kept the kid, but not notified the father. Women need to know that letting the father know means you will be locked into a custody/legal arrangement with him for probably the next 18 years. Child support is usually a very small, negligible amount. Raising the child on your own might very well be the best thing for the well being of the child

[–]Phoenix__Rising2018Ruthless Strategist 42 points43 points44 points 5 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Don't have children with crazy abusive scrotes in the hope that you can keep it quiet. That is a poor gamble.

[–]TERFSareawesomeFDS Apprentice 19 points20 points21 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh yeah, I definitely wouldn't. Just saying, obviously I wouldn't date a LVM anyway, but unless I was 100% certain that I knew a man would make an excellent HV father, I wouldn't tell them about the pregnancy and would try to keep it on the DL as much as I could. My nightmare is splitting custody with a LV scrote

[–]gingerwabisabiFDS Apprentice 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, during my 18-25 years multiple friends got pregnant accidentally and chose to keep the baby but not tell the father. I used to judge them for that, and I still have complicated feelings about the kids not knowing their bio fathers, but it probably was for the best.

[–]YellowsunflowerloverFDS Newbie 29 points30 points31 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wish I would have known this, I kept my baby while I was pregnant. I wasn't ready for that. It's been forever now and I'm finally doing amazing, but I stopped going to school and had to get a protective order in order to leave a DV relationship years ago. I was in her exact position.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I dont know about other places but around here planned parenthood requires you to have a designated ride home, like wisdom tooth surgery, and im not sure if uber would cut it. So they may need to tell someone for a ride to/from the clinic.

[–][deleted] 233 points234 points235 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He will then turn around and abandon them, creating a single mother and parrot the trop that women need to make better choices.

I'm so tired of these scrotes, and they are doubling down that women are oppressors and take advantage of them. Please, you work at dominoes and play video games the other 16 hours of the day fool, nobody needs you. UGG!

[–]Platipus6FDS Disciple 23 points24 points25 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. He knows she's tied to him forever and he doesn't have to do ANYTHING ever again.

[–]Lavender_flowFDS Apprentice 174 points175 points176 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Can you please tell this poor girl he relationship was already ruined as soon as he said he would break up with her if she had an abortion. It is a BLARING RED SIREN in her face that he is abusive, manipulative and controlling.

What she should do I leave him. Hopefully she has family who can support and help her, because it just makes it so much easier with love and support, but she can do it on her own too. She needs help from others, she needs to break up with him AND LEAVE.

[–]CarpedictumFDS Newbie 13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You don’t need that much love and support to get an abortion...

[–]Lavender_flowFDS Apprentice 36 points37 points38 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

she needs to leave her boyfriend in the process. If she feels she has none else around, then often that is how women get stuck in these situations. Hence the comment

[–]thewetdog_131 points 5 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

She should say OK, then get the abortion and pretend she miscarried. So this dude doesnt hurt her or damage her reputation and tell everyone she’s an abortion having whore.

Wait a week, tell him he reminds you too much of the baby you lost and dump him forever and ever.

With crazy people it’s better to sometimes play dumb and lie because you don’t know the extent of their retaliation when you take control back from them.

[–]PokePrincess95FDS Newbie 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Second this. I dated a LVM and when I finally left him he went NUCLEAR

[–]all_or_nothing_betFDS Apprentice 220 points221 points222 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The only thing she should be scared about is her boyfriend!

How can you possibly love someone who would force you to have a baby and sacrifice your education, your future?

He is a monster.

[–]AyxmiiiFDS Newbie 57 points58 points59 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

My boyfriend did this to me. Legit manipulative as hell. I need to save this post as a reminder.

[–]never_ending_regret 62 points63 points64 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

My ex did something similar. We found out I was pregnant and he knew I didn’t want to have children. He said that he wanted to have the kid so I foolishly put my trust in him. He then proceeded to abandon me and his son even when our son was in the hospital at 2 months old for sepsis. He then progressively treated our son and I worse and worse until I kicked him out.

[–]AyxmiiiFDS Newbie 30 points31 points32 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I hate this. I'm so so so sorry this happened to you. Wish you the best. Fr. Men are so selfish

[–]Sage_PlanterFDS Disciple 184 points185 points186 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

My boyfriend, on the other hand, is completely ready to have a baby

Yeaaaaaah. No shit. His body isn't the one being ruined, and he's probably one of those "being a dad will be fun!" types that will never change a diaper.

[–]Prestigious_Spray_34FDS Newbie 92 points93 points94 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He will dump her anyway. It’s better to get dumped while having an intact body and not being a parent.

[–][deleted] 62 points63 points64 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

He's 21. Does he have a career that'll comfortably support a family? Does he have his own home? Not like keeping the kid is his decision anyway, but he's deluding himself thinking he's ready.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points25 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This is exactly what I was thinking. He’s definitely not planning on being a father because there’s no way a 21 year old is equipped to have a baby.

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points22 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

LVM view pregnancy as an opportunity to "own" and abuse a woman.

[–]mostdefinitelyntursFDS Newbie 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I left my sons father at 7 months pregnant. Then a couple of years ago he asked me "Do you remember when we used to be friends?" I'm like "Yeah, but we're parents now." Lol he really thought he had a lifetime of access to me lol

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ugh. Men like this think: "Why put effort into a relationship when I can just trap a hostage?"

[–][deleted] 39 points40 points41 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

“Ready”

Ye, right, he’ll be ready to check out of the relationship, leaving her with all of the work.

[–]Shhhhhh86FDS Newbie 88 points89 points90 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I swear this happens more often than people think.

I was about to graduate when my ex stealthed me. I took plan b within the hour. Still got pregnant. I wanted an abortion, was promised the world etc etc.

5 months in when I can't abort anymore, he takes off. I go through it all alone.

I love my daughter, but having her did financially hurt me and wasn't what I wanted. I also had pretty severe PPD after.

My story is not unique. You just don't hear it often enough

[–]Virgomermaid94FDS Newbie 17 points18 points19 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]donttextme_kFDS Newbie 63 points64 points65 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 38 points39 points40 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He doesn't. No 21-year old does.

[–]Virgomermaid94FDS Newbie 128 points129 points130 points 5 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

My ex took the condom off and lied about it, because I made good money and was “such a good single mother to the other son” he dint even want me... he just wanted me to have his baby and to tell me I was undeserving undesirable and unworthy of being a wife.

I stopped talking to him when I was 6m pregnant he’s not on the birth certificate and my baby has my maiden last name., and when the baby was 2 months I met my now HVM husband. Baby and my my older son calls him dad and he’s an amazing dad.

When the baby was 3years old we were getting married my ex heard I was happy/getting married so he took me to court saying he “just dint like me getting married” the judge hated him (luckily) after he said that in court....now he does weekly 15 minute video calls and he sees him 4 times a year supervised visitations (he’s missed 5 visits in two years and is always late for video calls) and pays child support. (The child support doesn’t even cover half of my sons expenses)

We have another court date to change my sons last name to my married name from my maiden name we have to go to court because my ex wants it to stay my maiden name to remind me I “was a single mom, a whore, that’s not my husbands kid,” and I can’t “just pretend like a big happy family” luckily that’s in text so I should win just fine. He doesn’t want his son to have his last name he just wants it to not be my husbands, just like he never wanted to be in a relationship with me he just dint want me to be with anyone. It’s all about ownership with him.

We are no contact outside of the necessary texts about video chatting.... and I found out too late for an abortion, I love both my sons (my first I was a teen mom and also terrible situation)

but I would be much further in life if I had waited. I wouldn’t have this asshole in my life, my husband would be the biological dad, my son wouldn’t have to deal with an asshole. I would’ve enjoyed being pregnant verse secretly hoping to miscarry and than feeling awful about those thoughts because my baby is beautiful.

Please don’t have this baby. Abort it now, a man worth keeping would support you right to choose and not leave you over your choice because he would love you for you not for what you can do or give to him.

I am so sorry. That is rape by deception and the disrespect of men knows no bounds

[–]Low-Cartoonist-176 29 points30 points31 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Taking a condom off is akin to rape because it removes your ability to consent. Its that much more insidious because you can genuinely have long term consequences from such an action, just like you did.

Ladies, keep an eye on it. I never thought it was even a thing (because what idiot wants to risk a child when they're not ready?!) but apparently its so common these days. Kudos to you for keeping him out of the loop as much as possible while getting yourself a better deal.

[–]Virgomermaid94FDS Newbie 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Yea he had no contact from me being 6 months pregnant up until I was served court forms when my son was 3 . I dint know him that well, he even spat in the condom and had taken it off and put it back on, like damn I love my kids and my husband is so amazing with them but I hate that another human had that level of control over my life and I feel stupid for trusting him . I still get weird about doggie-style because that’s how he lied to me, literally behind.my.back.

[–]Low-Cartoonist-176 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Youre not stupid. You did make a bad character assessment and you overstated his trustworthiness, but hey if every rapist, murderer and otherwise awful person had a warning blinking sign above his head telling you to get the f away life would be way easier...usually the worst ones hide their spots the best.

Whats important that you got out, learned from it, protected your kids, and found someone much better. As for the doggy style, i get it. Ever since this happened to me I now always keep one eye on it. Even before my then bf pulled this shit I was afraid of getting knocked up against my wishes, because its a massive responsibility. Kids are cute and all, but they're a lifetime of responsibility and I would want to make sure i give them the best environment possible for growing up instead of being forced to quickly figure things out because some asshole just had to have his 3 minutes of pleasure at my expense.

[–]hyperjinxxFDS Newbie 34 points35 points36 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I doubt he’s “completely” ready for a baby. He’s only saying that because he doesn’t want her to abort HIS spawn and expects HER to make all of the sacrifices. Of course he’s okay with her career being affected and trapping her longer without even a proposal. HOW EASY for him to make that decision for her.

I hope she leaves and does what’s best for herself. This man is selfish to say the least.

Let him leave

Hopefully she left him and will finish school successfully. Much better than becoming reliant on an emotionally abusive dude at 21.

A baby is forever. A man is only temporary.

And they try to turn around and say women “trap” them into having a baby.

I hope she dumps the guy, has the abortion if she wants, and finishes school. He cannot wait a year for kids...he is trying to control her and keep her under his thumb.

Reminded me of a pickme friend I once had, who had dreams of finishing grad school and getting into my field of work. Her husband was hardcore pressuring her to have kids, when she clearly said she wasn’t ready. They are in their mid-20s and he supposedly can’t wait a couple years for her to finish school and start a career. Sad part was, she gave in to his demands and they are now trying for a baby while she’s still in school. Not to mention, he is also in the military and stationed overseas. 100% a control tactic.

Men should have NO SAY. If the man does or does not like abortion it's his job to discuss it beforehand. Not make demands after he fucked up and ABANDONED his sperm inside a woman.

I got pregnant in similar circumstances, it’s now a very long road for me to being financially stable, when I had the world at my feet back then. I now see that he wanted to keep the baby as a means to continue to control me, even though I left him he still continues to abuse me through our child.

There needs to be more protection for women leaving the abusive fathers of their children, despite men complaining they are discriminated against in terms of child custody it is actually very difficult to block these men having access to the child and therefore you in my experience.
