I had coffee too late this evening and now can't sleep at 3 am so bear with me. I've been seeing this a lot lately and it makes no sense to me. How is this man you've known for 7 months and don't have combined finances, kids, real estate, or anything concrete in common your "partner?" Just say boyfriend, that word exists for a reason. Partners are people who are married or engaged at least, in that case you have agreed to spend the rest of your life together and hopefully taken vows that explicitly say that.

TL;DR: your boyfriend who you've celebrated one birthday with is not your partner, they're your boyfriend. Or just some guy who'll most likely be out the door in a few months.
