There's videos of these being used on poor babies on YouTube, i couldn't finish the video. I think anyone who circumcises a baby without medical reason needs shot. I say medical reasons because when my brother was younger he had problems I think his foreskin was too tight and they contemplated cutting it? I might be wrong but in my country they don't usually do it unless medically necessary.

I am woman and was on a mums app for advice about raising my son. I was talking to a woman who posted that she was getting her son circumcised. She said that her reason circumcision was that when he is an old man that he won't get infections from not having it cleaned. She had worked in nursing homes and men would get infections. This is the worst excuse I have ever heard. I have worked in multiple nursing homes myself and if staff aren't cleaning them properly, it needs to be reported.

I don't get it like why should you have to cut a child's genitals so that they don't get infections when they are older wtf it made my blood boil when women kept liking her comment.

In the UK it's only really ever done for medical or religious reasons. If you look at the Wikipedia article the more secular countries seem to have higher rates apart from the US.

Just the other day I was describing this to someone and they dead-ass did not believe me. I was trying to explain how circumcision is a surgical procedure performed outside of a surgical theater by nurses instead of doctors and using physical restraints instead of anesthesia. All of those sound absolutely disgusting and completely nonsensical to a modern medical hospital setting.

But this is really how its done. Every day. In every hospital. All across the US (can't speak for other countries). Its barbaric and most people not only have no idea but refuse to even accept the concept when you tell them to their face.

This topic is not a battle between MRA and human rights groups (neglecting men's rights). It's about much much bigger players. Two zealotic religions where one has influence enough to extort entire countries, and the other is prone to terrorist attacks.

I think Iceland is proof. The vote had been passed and all circumcision (except for rare instances of medically necessary ones) was to be banned. Iceland received such severe threats that they had to stand down. It's worth to consider how miniscule Iceland is, and that the population of concerned minorities numbered less than 300 people.

So, A country doing this, it's not going to be a bit of initial scuffle which soon cools down, and everyone gradually adapts to the new status quo.

No this will assuredly spark the "clash of civilisations".

Fighting feminists on this is pointless. The question is how to actually proceed. I think the first step in the US is to ban it for all white Christians. Maybe start there.

Fgm is an issue, it's just not generally openly supported in Westernised cultures bc of how many complications it causes in regards to things like childbirth and incontinence. It's just easier to viciously repress your kid out of discovering themselves than them be unable to bear children/bleed to death from first time intercourse.

I dislike circumcision as much as the next guy, but acting like a restraint is a torture device is going too far. It's what they're doing to the kid while they're strapped in that's the problem.

I regularly have to put kids (including baby girls) into a device called a pigg-o-stat. It looks like a torture device, fair enough. But it's just a holder that keeps the kid still and safe while I take their xrays.

Restraining devices are about patient safety. You shouldn't drum up fear surrounding them just because you disagree with one of the procedures they use them for. I would happily see child circumcision end, but the restraint device is not the issue here.

Yes, I have assisted using circ board. We have to otherwise their natural reaction is to pull arms & legs up even before procedure. They don’t like being restrained. Yet any adult surgery, with deep anesthesia, once you are asleep, we restrain you into a position ( depending on surgery) to keep you safe, prevent nerve damage, to prevent “ bucking on table” should anesthesia not have you deep enough ( refer to levels of anesthesia) . No I did not doing it. Now that lidocaine is used at usually 10 & 2’oclock, it is the Un swaddled baby & cold room they do not like- heck I was cold always wore OR top coat. I would like to see topical used before the injection of lidocaine. Be you for or against, I always will respect your opinions. I had no choice, if assigned to the circ room on any given day.

My son was circumcised for religious reasons 32 yrs ago. The mohel didn't use anything like that. That's probably for hospital circumcisions.

All he did was have us give him baby painkiller an hr before, and gave him some wine on a swab. He never cried and went to sleep afterward.

I understand your objection, but you're fighting the wrong fight. If it were socially acceptable to circumcise girls, and there was money to be made in light of that acceptance, I assure you such horrific devices as the one you posted would exist for females, too.

I bet the vast majority of males are circumcised by other males - because it helps pay for their second home at the shore, the payments on the Range Rover, the kids' college fund, and the vacation in Italy. As long as that continues, expect boys to part with their foreskins.
