In regards to the famous double standard (how men and women who have casual sex are often perceived - men as "players" and women as various derogatory terms), I heard an interpretation and I'd like the opinion of the sub.

So this explanation argues that men need to have skills, confidence and charisma to be having casual sex often, while women don't really need to show any of these traits. So then the men who are able to do this are kinda "respected" while women aren't, because it doesn't take anything for them to have sex.

If it's true I don't believe that it's the only reason for this double standard for sure, but I can see the logic in this interpretation.

P.S. When I said about the perceptions of "players" and women of "loose morals", I mean of the general public, not enlightened individuals in reddit, and definetely not me, so please no lesson needed on sexism and language.

P.s. 2. Thanks for your comments, some are really thought provoking. Also, to clarify, i never said that I respect men who have sex/casual sex often or that I condone this view of the whole thing. And i didnt say that this is the reason for the double standard. I guess this reasoning is partially valid for why some men view this concept in this way.
