Bernie is the shit. Aside from being able to beat Trump, we wouldn't be reading endless articles about the Democratic Party's male vote woes if he had been the candidate in 2016 or 2020. Bernie doesn't need to play Madden or have campaign themed Fortnite maps to win over young men. When your message has universal appeal to everyone not obscenely wealthy, i.e. 99% of Americans, and you're not aggressively judging and alienating 50% of the population, you don't need that crap.

Unfortunately, Bernie's getting too old for this sort of thing. I expect this to be his last hurrah. Let's hope he makes the establishment Democrats feel the Bern one last time with whatever he's planning.

Absolutely right.

Populists like Trump feed on the disatisfaction of those that feel left behind. The only way to nip this kind of populism in the bud is to offer fundamental change for the people at the bottom.

The best the DNC could offer was more of the same.

Disappointed but not surprised. Truly believe Bernie would have been a force to be reckoned with.

If Bernie ever ran for President or had any kind of political party , iam voting for that . I don't care for any party that he is competing against . Bernie should be president , he the only one that looks at the problems more objectively than any high status politician .

I registered as a democrat to vote in the primaries for Bernie in 2016. They cheated him that cycle. Then in 2020 all the democrats conspired against him and dropped out in unison to try to shift the media narrative and the momentum to Biden. I didn’t get to vote for him in that primary because by the time my state got to vote the primary was over and Biden won. Now in 2024 they didn’t even bother having an expedited primary and crowned the DEI candidate as our nominee while pointing fingers at other people being for being undemocratic. She then spent the campaign saying word salad, having no vision, pandering to ONLY women, and courting war mongers like Dick Cheney and business elites like Mark Cuban.

Fuck that. I voted for the orange idiot. They will never have my vote again until they do better.

I agree but a part of feels like he is towing the line here in his statement. He said just enough to point out how Democrats abandoned the working class but then he jumped back into the same talking points that Democrats would likely say. But he is definitely correct about the Democrats abandoning the working class.

Honestly, as it seems to be alluding to, the news outlets here that are not Fox News, need to reconnect with the working class as well. Maybe then, the Democrats will begin to shift their platform back towards the center as well.

I suspect this is true but it’d be good to have survey data on why people voted the way they did and more importantly why they did NOT vote. I suspect that the election results were more people not voting at all rather than swapping to trump. Trump supposedly got less votes than last time so people weren’t so much switching to him. It’s just that democrats got way less votes. I assume that was mostly because of the Gaza war but Bernie could be onto something here

Harris actually got a higher percentage of the vote than Bernie did in his own state. If he correctly diagnosed this, she couldn’t do this.
