My wife's 40th birthday coming up next year and I've been informed by my wife that her friend and her wealthy husband are taking her on an extensive, multi-country European vacation to celebrate. I was never asked by them or my wife to whether I cared to join them on this trip. I would have appreciated either an invite or at least an inquiry by these friends as to what my plans for her birthday would be as to not step on my toes. (we just renewed our passports and of our kids specifically so WE as a family can finally do a trip to Italy we always talked about). I'm questioning my marriage at this point. For the record, we have the means to afford our own European trip. So I'm feeling a bit annoyed by the friends who I feel have overstepped in our marriage, but also my wife for leaving me out. The thought has crossed my mind to move out when she goes abroad, and check out of this marriage. Problem is, I have one child a year away from college, and I likely won't do that, even though I want to. Not sure if I'm making too big a deal out of it.

tl:dr wife accepts invitation to a European trip with another couple, excludes husband of 20 years.
