Oh god this is like scary accurate for my ex. Just replace cigarettes with weed smoked out of a never cleaned bowl, completely bald, a fetlife icon, and a picture of someone fused into a chair like Pearl from Blade it would be perfect. Genius OP!

Poor and narrow diet (chicken nuggets, pepperoni pizza, fries, repeat...ugh), very messy, no furniture to sit on but THANK GOODNESS he's got those rare pair of Jordan's because when you're 31 and have nothing to sit on in your home, but have an ugly ass pair of sneakers you're winning at lofe /s - constantly bringing up "growing up poor', dressing like an 18 year old fuckboy, id add a picture of a bus pass because this nvm doesn't drive or have a car, poor table/restaurant manners and social skills, vape, a beer belly, yellow teeth, halitosis, ED, blaming adhd for all life's problems, then blaming the medication for others... ah, the list goes on. Luckily this is two guys put together.

This post was inspired by u/snow989898’s brilliant comment on how to get over a NVM/LVM ex.

Literally this sounds so weird but it works. Every single time you think of him you need to think of something that repulses you. Anything in the world. It could be something that makes you cringe about him or literally think of that time you had the stomach flu. It doesn’t matter. Think a repulsive thought every single time. A week from now your brain will stop trying to get it’s fix from him and you will feel over it.

I took it one step further and made a collage of all the behaviors that, in hindsight (unfortunately), repulsed me about my ex.

Due to trauma bonding & unhealthy attachment issues, I was able to look past these things because I loooooved him. After breaking up with him & having time/space to myself, I realized just how much of a LVM he really was. Even so, I was having a hard time stopping myself from (angrily) thinking about him & our 4 year relationship.

Then I saw u/snow989898’s comment, and it’s like a light bulb went off! I realized I could replace my anger with repulsion in order to quickly and efficiently get over it! Every time my thoughts trail off toward my ex, I pull up the collage in my camera roll and BOOM. Don’t want to think about it a second longer! I’ve only used this strategy for 1 day and it’s already working.

The collage I posted here is just an example. The one saved in my camera roll is too specific and I’m worried my ex will find it. But you get the idea!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this strategy and what types of behaviors you ladies would include in your repulsive-ex collages.

It's like we all have the same ex lol, I was going through photos my phone the other day and came across some whatapp ones of my ex that he sent me... Horrific.... The forehead wrinkles (at 30) he had were so bad like botox would not even help... Is this caused by the constant porn induced phone stare concentration while wanking maybe - enhanced by the hairline that is also trying it's hardest to escape.

I think this is great.

Our brains make us remember our positive feelings more. This is helpful sometimes, but when you're trying to move on from someone, it just makes it harder.

This is why I highly recommend keeping your old texts. Keep proof of everything.

Coincidentally, I made a collage where I took screenshots of my ex’s eyes from pictures I saw online. (This was immediately after the break up when I was still unsure of myself thanks to his gaslighting.) The collage is seriously disturbing reminder that just because the mouth is smiling and he’s faking a happy life, it doesn’t mean there isn’t a sociopath behind those cold, dead eyes. It gave me reassurance every time I looked at it.

I think this post affected me subconsciously yesterday when I read it. Because I had a dream/nightmare last night. And it was my ex and I and we were back together, and I picked him up for lunch and I told him I had to be back by 1:30 for a work appointment which he proceeded to monopolize my time, we didn't get anything to eat, but went shopping first, and he was taking his good old time picking something out at a store while I was waiting for him and it was 10 minutes till 1:30 and I was going to be hungry and late, again, because of his selfishness. It was just a reminder of his gross disrespect for me, my needs, and my time.

It was what I needed and my brain was like, "I gotcha girl. Here's a horrible reminder of how he treated you 90% of the time in vivid detail."

This definitely helped! He was in denial of his anger issues, would yell at me all the time, ignore me for hours, and had the audacity to think I would go back to dating him after he asked me to move out 🙄

Here's the one that works for me. Ladies, do not read this if you have a weak stomach. Once I was having trouble getting over one of my exes so I wrote their name on a piece of paper, put it on the toilet and went #2 on it. Works like a charm unfortunately. Every time you see them or think of them you'll either be repulsed or have a mischievous grin on your face. Never fails!
