I dont think there’s anything I could have said in 60 seconds that would have made any difference. I could have told myself to be more confident, wear the clothes I admired but didn’t think would suit me - but I doubt I would have listened. My insecurities and anxieties weren’t really based on objective things I could have changed. They were more complicated than that, mostly based on my own hang ups and perceptions.

Start going to the gym and don't quit. You don't have to bust your ass on a daily basis, just be consistent. Be more careful with your diet and alcohol intake. Think about the career you want to have and work towards it. Learn to save more and spend less. And remember that most of the things that feel important right now, will seem ridiculously insignificant a few years down the line. Focus on the big picture, not momentary distractions. That's about it...

I really don't know if I'd tell myself anything. There's definitely been some shitty stuff that would have been very nice to avoid, but I've learned so much from that too. I'm pretty happy with where I am right now, and those bad experiences obviously helped me get here.

Maaaaaaaaaybe I'd say "get your shit together in school. Skipping classes and partying is fun and all, but bringing that GPA back up to a 4.0 is a lot of work". But skipping classes and partying has given me lifelong friends and fantastic memories, so idk.....

Edit: whoops, I was not in college when I was 16 lol, nevvvvermind. Actually, I'd tell myself "don't start smoking you fucking idiot, you know better than this, it's not worth it"

Double edit: make more of an effort to see Brian once he moves away. Let him know how much you value him, how awesome he is. Help him find the girlfriend he so desperately wants as much as you can. Make the drive to his new town, spend more time with him. Tell him what an awesome, loving, hilarious, guy he is; he's not going to be around for much longer.

1) Stop playing sports and pursue hobbies that you’re going to use and enjoy after high school. Guitar, animation, drawing, programming. If not, by college you’ll be way behind everyone in skill by the time you want to do it.

2) Don’t let your parents praise of your accomplishments let you be lazy. College is going to be a nightmare and is significantly harder than highschool with a lazy work ethic.

3) Your current first girlfriend? The one you met a year ago and started a long distance relationship with? In 6 years she’s going to drop you at the most financially inconvenient time in your life because she’s bored with no care for your emotions. Not worth it.

Not really sure. I really like my life and feel Like every stupid mistake I learned from paved the way to where I am now.

I would probably tell myself to forget about college (started and stopped / dropped classes out of laziness 3 times from 18 to 22). But it was community college so it’s not like I took on huge loans for it. I was more focused on playing music with my band and just living life off the beaten path in general. I’m a bit of a hipster bohemian type.

Actually I’d tell myself to start working out and eat healthier. Started doing this around 23 after my first LTR gf dumped me and my life has gotten much better and gave me much more confidence. Not cause I get more dates and have a better sex life, but because I’ve accomplished physical feats I felt I could not do based on genetics. Like run a mile under 6:30.

1) Stop waking up every morning resolving to stoically 'try harder'. You're different and there is nothing wrong with that, the only way you're going to get anywhere is by making that your strength. Sometimes having self respect is standing up for who you are, telling people and expecting them to listen, rather than trying to make yourself 'better'.
