The problem with the “sexual marketplace” is that thing that you refer to as a “sexual marketplace” is really broad. I am sure the problems in the “sexual marketplace” in Silicon Valley are different than the problems in the “sexual marketplace” in some small town in he middle of no where. “Chad” can still have his own individual “problems” with dating, they are just going to be different, but people enjoy playing the victim olympics.

Sort of. If it were a completely free market, like many other things, it would get out of hand and not be sustainable long term.

Years ago, the church took on the role of stabilizer and mandated a 1 to 1 policy to keep the wheels of society turning and keep everyone (well, beta men) happy. Today, that role is no longer enforced (or required), and we are drifting back towards more of a free market.

No, it's not a free market as you describe when monetary exchanges are illegal and other exchanges are considered abuse of power tantamount to rape.

But the regular sexual market place can be seen as a free market. Women just don't have the same demand as men and won't accept substitutes.

Well, why don’t we analyse it as an economist does a marketplace ?

Is the market “clearing” ? I.e. are all the goods getting sold (excepting a small amount of inventory on shelves). No.

It’s clear a large amount of the goods called “males” in the SMP are not selling. They’re sitting on the shelves for fucking ages in lots of cases. This indicates there is a problem in the market.

This could be caused by an oversupply of males (which seems unlikely given that males:females are roughly 50:50) OR by a lack of demand for males at the current price. That seems MUCH more likely. It seems as if males are “overpricing themselves”.

They can solve this in two ways... Reduce the price of males (in the SMV this would mean targeting lower value females for sex I.e. lowering their price in Female SMV) or upping their quality (giving women better goods for their price).

Interestingly the RMP (the relationship market place) seems to suffer an inverse problem. The number of girls who want a relationship is higher than the number getting them. Suggesting this market is also not clearing and probably for the same reason. Here it appears girls are overvalued respective to demand. They appear to be looking for guys with too high an RMV to allow the market to clear. They have the same solutions available. Lower their price, by targeting men with lower RMV or increase their quality at their current price.

With both markets not clearing it seems as they’re not particularly efficient. Goods are clearly being overpriced.

To the extent that sexual and relationship access are complimentary goods, or near substitutes, this also suggests a possibility for arbitrage.

Specifically females using sexual access to secure relationships... and males using relationship access to secure sex... as both (by so doing) would enter the market within which they are at an advantage. Which, given we see this happening, also indicates the markets are substitutable and the analysis of the relative market failures in each are also roughly correct.

So I’d argue there is something wrong with the SMP (the casual sex market) as it’s not clearing... and this is due to overpriced males... and there are at least 3 ways it could be a better market ... Males lowering their price (looking for lower SMV girls), raising their quality (RP!) and arbitrage with the RMP (more males offering commitment to get sex).

If a combination of those three things , the market would clear.

Agreed. But I don't think people are complaining about just the SMP, but how the SMP and RMP relate. For example, they are mad when they cannot trade their sex for commitment the way women can, or that their commitment is worth more than their sex. Plainly, they are butt-hurt when women who aren't so attracted to them that they are willing to trade sex for sex are willing to trade commitment or money or whatever, for sex.

Everything's wrong with a market in which most of the goods and products who have value belong to the luxury category.

The 80/20 ratio reflects that 80 percent of the goods are excluded from the market in term of inspiring lust.

To find something else valuable to trade will not change that. Revealing that you are wealthy or providing exciting dates won't suddenly make the man a source of lust and make the woman wet.

If you ask me, the problem lies in the fact that women have over the roof standards.

Nothing is wrong with the casual sex market because everyone is getting some. Average(ahem, not obese) men are getting with women in their league, and the hot men are banging the women in their league and below but watcha gonna do, Cristiano Ronaldo can get laid with 100000, 10/10 and I don't lose sleep over it, and below average men are banging below average women.

Please elaborate to me why do you think the sexual marketplace is skewed? I've visited the USA a few times and I've seen decent-looking men take women home with them. Women who were more attractive than them to begin with. These men were of average height, average build, and their faces couldn't have been copy pasted onto Nick Carter or Justin Timberlake, no.

Sure but women keep bringing the law in when they get screwed, keep insisting that men be held accountable for their unhappiness and also want men to adjust their behaviour and reprogramme themselves for women's benefit. This is what they say, but ironically, they do something different. The other problem is that men could inspire more lust or trade better if women weren't earning as much as they were. Women want it both ways (to earn what men earn but somehow marry up), which is ridiculous. She also shouldn't be lying to the betas she commits to when she's not really that attracted to them.

If women also want men to appeal to them, they then have to put in the hard work. How about not being an entitled single mom, overweight at 30 expecting a man to bail your ass out? I agree that men should do more than complain but it works both ways. Women, however, are just unwilling to budge even when men have kept up their end of the bargain (things like gender roles are not expected of women but still expected of men). Lose some weight, don't be a slut, single motherhood is not an achievement, ditch the entitled attitude and actually be nice to men.

Nothing is wrong with the mechanics of it, but it's one of those markets in which the government is a bitch about advertisement and kind of enforces asymmetry of information... "Men need to stop complaining and figure out how to inspire lust" ends up easier said than done because of that. But you still don't get a lot of whining about it from men.

The VERY fucked up bit is the committed relationship market.

It's a free market.

The sexual marketplace is, not the economic resource marketplace.

The current SMP is thus free from consequences, for women exclusively. A dual mating strategy emerges where women fuck alphas and the state becomes the new beta provider, financed by the very beta taxpayers that are replaced by the state as provider.

IT's also bad for society. Men do all the crucial work of society. Men build the roads, the buildings, the dig all the trenches, they do the welding, the do the plumbing. It'd be a really, really, really bad idea to disincentivize men.

Moreover, at more middling and low level of society, crime is predicted by not having a father in the household. Not graduating college or high school is predicted by not having a father in the household.

I think it's fair to say that if 20/30% of men disappeared, stopped going to work, society would start to crumble.

Casual Sex leads to lack of intimacy. Sex becomes just an "act" rather than something you do intimate with someone.

People in history have put down "lust" and sexual harems by condemning it and it lead to society thriving...

I think when you let it unwind "naturally" and succumb to sexual desires without limit or very little limit, it does more harm than good.. and its happening already in society.

Men who do not inspire lust don't deserve women they lust ...because it's not a fair trade.

But the point is that for some men it's not merit based and they are just hot. That's what creates the feeling of injustice, someone just being born with hotness and not having to earn it.
