I liked having it for a full week. It took a day or two for the blatant shit posts to be replaced with shitty conversation about good topics. We peaked around days 3-5, and then the incels overwhelmed us. I don't think we should do it too often, as it would lose it's novelty quickly. Bi- annually at most if we are going to do a full week.

Well, let me think...

the shitposting got out of hand - there was such an assload of asinine threads that weren't even interesting to look at and had little to no posts in them, but still littered the thread list.
obvious trolls weren't shot on sight. The "all posts are allowed" rule might make sense, but in its current iteration it has the glaring loophole that people can just create new accounts and derail anything and everything.
it was too long, but that might have been because of the less-than-pleasant side effects.
other than that... well, I didn't really participate, so there's that.

If I had to make adjustment to the ruleset, I would add two simple rules:

Only forum regulars may behave as they please during purge week. There were quite a bunch of lurkers (or alts?) nobody has ever seen before coming out of the woodworks to just plain troll others only to vanish after order is reestablished - nah, it shouldn't work like that. If people want to misbehave, they should (a) earn the right and (b) be willing to suffer the fallout after purge week is over (unless of course they delete their accounts afterwards, which might happen as well).
And for the love of God blatant shitposting should at least be discouraged in one way or another.

It was fun for a while but I'm happy to go back to the old system now. As expected, the shit posts got boring over time and the amount of incel posts that just kept going in circles exploded. Though I think the incel posts without rules were actually more fun and productive than they used to be within the normal ppd frame before they got banned.

Would like to have purge week/ days again some time, maybe after a few months so everyone can get the shitposts out of their system again.

I had made plans to post that exact piece once the "purge is over" sticky went up. It was going to be a perfect musical accompaniment to return of order, and the banishment of fuckwittery.

Yeah, it was fun. A week once in a very long while is OK. Yearly. Bi-Yearly.

Please God, not monthly. And I don't like the 1 day a week idea, it'd leak too much into the rest of the Sub's week. A nice clearly defined week of egregious shitposting clearly demarcated and a long way apart from each other is fine.

But now, I'm really looking forward to seeing the shitposting OPs, particularly the incel OPs, gone ... and certain users told to cut that shit out or face the banhammer.

I look forward to the ensuing massacre caused by people not quite being able to put the basball bats and autistic screeching down quick enough for our newly refreshed and alert mods and their, no doubt itchy, trigger fingers.

the best part about it to me was not having to be afraid of fighting BACK against people who personally attack me without getting banned. i think the mods should just each be allowed to remove posts that look like personal attacks at their own discretion, ban only people who literally do nothing but personally attack users and contribute no other content and really basically stop temp banning and trying to act like theres some kind of process.

its ludicrous to ban users who create all the content for getting in fights

I liked a purge week, but it got infested with incels a little too fast. Even I got annoyed, and Im relatively chill lol. Id say a 2 purge weekends, one every 6 months or so.

Everyday should be like the purge, except continue to ban incels. That should be the only rule. Also get rid of all mods, mods are cucks.

I think this week exposed a lot of the problems with mods and their policies.

I think it's abundantly clear that mods are needed long-term to keep the sub from completely degenerating, but some changes are desperately needed.

The pill split on the mod team needs fixing. ARS does not appear to stand up to the BP mods, and the BP mods quite frankly are shitty mods. They will not police their own, but they'll jump all over anyone red or purple that rustles their jimmies. If nothing else, recruit a few quality non-BP mods.
The only post restrictions we need are no obvious circlejerk posts and no done-to-death topics like incels. This sub functions better with more churn in the discussion topics.
We need a consistent standard of what actually constitutes "civil". Ironically enough, I saw a lot more petty flamewars and immature bullshit under normal circumstances compared to the purge. In some ways, calling someone a fucking idiot is less obnoxious and debate stifling than the passive-aggressive sneers that are the norm around here.
This one is for the mods. Do you want to know why people don't report anything? BECAUSE THERE'S NO FUCKING POINT. Mod actions seem to based upon the personal biases of the mod in question and don't really have any relationship to our vague, highly subjective, open to interpretation rules. If you want to see people actually use the report button, get fucking consistent and stop making people feel like it's a petulant futile gesture.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. This week in terms of my personal postings is probably the most active I have been. I guess that means I'm a bad person. I think an entire week is a little bit long, but at the same time purge periods should last at least a few days. As other posters have stated, it took a couple days for purge week to reach peak, but then we started being overrun by incels. I've never disliked incels like most of the community does, but by the end of the purge week those hopefully non reproducing incels became quite annoying.
