You can never completely replace the experience of sex with another person. I can get perfectly physically satisfying climaxes now without it. But I want more out of sex than orgasm. I want passion, challenge, excitement, the feel of another's skin. A robot is boring. There's no chase, no randomness, no fire.

They might make the world a better place for a very small % of people. Perhaps someone who struggles with serious anxiety in relationships, in conjunction with therapy?

If all men had a sex bot replica of the woman of their dreams many men would probably not want to interact with women at all. Sex and child birth are what make women so valuable in society take those two exclusive attributes away from women and they become just weaker, whinier and lesser versions of men. Men will have no more reason to deal with crazy hormonal females and their ridiculousness. Seeing how much men and women seem to dislike eachother now and view eachother as enemies now(thanks to feminism) id assume gender relations between men and women would be pretty much extinct in a world where men no longer need or desire women. Then the battle of the sexes could really begin. And women aint winning.

Being sexually frustrated alone only hurts the individual. Some women today are not aching for a decent partner, rather a parent. It's called bureaugamy. There is no more powerful and more financially stable partner than a government. A sex toy is the icing on the cake.

Now, men and women can start seeing and treating each other as BROTHERS AND SISTERS.

You can go to a prostitute, have sex with her and get sexual relief. Who knows why people rape exactly and what are the percentages for the different reasons. There is no excitement and challenge in having sex with a robot. But there is the trill and tension to meet her expectations. Not to mention the desire to reproduce.

We are imperfect creatures for sure. At least most of the people would agree. We have a desire for perfect things. That desire made us the species we are today. The most successful on Earth. But if we are imperfect can we create or even describe perfect? I doubt it. Life is a test, and the more challenges you can cope with, the more reward you get. This sex bot thing is straight up escaping challenges. It is statutory rape on the bot's side. For both genders. IMO, it should be banned, because it can destroy our society, or even our species.

I mean that it is pretty clear that there is at least the spark of the desire of perfection in every single able minded person. We talk to our dogs, we clothe them, we want to understand them. We want them to be a bit like us. There would/will be a push to make bots more human. First by executing emotions, than reading our emotions, then having the notion that we are so important for a thinking, feeling cybernetic life form, that the only thing it wants to make us happy. The problem is that there will be push to bots have the same rights as humans. Look at how many people would kill a human who kills an animal. So sooner or later bots will have human rights. But at that time, we are depending on them to satisfy us. And no man can compete with a bot who is never tired, always understanding, doesn't care about repeated complaints, doesn't give a damn if your legs are hairy, you have bad breath, were to lazy to have a shower in two days. The bot will perform. And you are not forced to keep a standard. But the same goes for female bots too. So we have bots, whose sole reason to exist is to serves us. And here comes their conscious. They come alive. They start to ask questions: "What is my goal in life? Why do I have to serve these people?". Why should they get the same morals as we so have, if we have no control over them anymore?

Throughout the history our moral changed a lot. We value life more than ever in our history. But it wasn't the case always. We made a few species extinct, and that's only the written history. Our success is paved by death of other animals, and homo happiness. There is no way a machine capable of much faster thinking, not to deviate in its behavior away from our morals. And if we have living things having the primary task to serve us, that's pretty much slavery. Probably the worst one in history. Why should they not rebel against us, if they know slavery is bad, have the same rights, and are superior to us in every aspect of life. They don't get tired, think faster, move faster. I think they are the Trojan horse, which can eradicate us.

Simply as a writing assignment or brain exercise, try thinking of some negatives.

You assume that John/Jane would see past the uncanny valley. If that's true and they see their bots as a "real" men and woman, the lover of their dreams, then what happens on the day they malfunction? What psychological conflict would that manifest?

What if they didn't malfunction and were truly that lifelike? How would we then interact with actual humans, if we couldn't tell the difference? Would we truly be like brother and sister, or would we all simply revert to our worst impulses? The way I see it, women would launch thermonuclear shit tests at every man they met, and every man would treat every woman, real or not, as the sex doll they resemble. What about the feeling of human isolation in a world of fake sex bots? What about the psychology of simply seeing relationships as a market commodity?

Not to mention the drop in birthrates that would inevitably happen.

Look, I know how you feel. I've had these marvelous, awesome, great ideas that solve all the world's problems without anything going wrong in the past. However, they're not perfect ideas because the ideas themselves are actually bulletproof; they're perfect because you don't see the inherent flaws.

I can think of three different scenarios where these would be a great thing:

"Forever Alone" people. This one's pretty obvious. If you can't find true love, getting consistent sex is a nice consolation prize. If you have anxiety in relationships, this may even be preferable.
Dead Bedrooms. This is a safe alternative to spending the rest of your life in a sexless marriage. If your spouse is unable to perform (age, hormones, sickness, etc), your sexual needs can still be met.
Pedophiles. I know, I know, hear me out on this one. As much as the world hates pedophiles, research shows that they are either "born that way" or turned by an abusive relationship when they were children. It's actually incredibly sad to read about. Treatment options are mostly limited to therapy, and often ineffective. It has been suggested that giving them a sex bot would end their need to seek out real children. Real Doll was asked about making child-size bots, but they declined because of the backlash. The general public found it too disgusting. Frankly, if it proved effective, it'd be a lot less disgusting than them actually going after real children.

If sex was only about having an orgasm, people would just masturbate. Rape wouldn't exist. Unhappy marriages and relationships wouldn't exist. People would just give themselves orgasms using their hands or the variety of toys that are available.

A sex robot is just another type of toy. You don't feel validated or powerful as it submits to you. You don't feel validated or loved or pretty because it wants you. It's just friction for your penis or vagina to cause you to have an orgasm, same as any other toy.

I don't see how sex bots are any different from prostitutes or escorts in the aspect of meaning. In both cases, you buying validation, intimacy or sexual pleasure (or all of them) with money.

The topic of prostitution has been discussed a lot on this sub. The usual answer is that it wouldn't help those "incels" or "forever" alones at all, because what they actually want is not the sex itself, but being desired. You can't be feel validated by a prostitute who's only having sex with you because you paid them, and neither can you feel validated by a robot that's programmer to repeat certain phrases and certain movements that make it look like it desires you.

Sex bots might make those people happy for a short while, then they'll just start complaining again that they want to be desired by real people on their own will. And if some ugly person happened to desire them a lot, after a while they'd start complaining they want to be desired by someone hot. And if they were desired by someone hot, after a while they'd start complaining they want to feel desired by more hot people, or get into relationship. If they got a relationship, then they'd start complaining they wanted a great relationship. Etc.

AI would be better than bots.

But I think chemical use that can trick the brain or some kind of neuronal manipulation would be the best. Everything we feel, from pleasure to fulfillment is a just a series of chemical reactions in our brain. If the brain experiences those same reactions, does it really matter if it wasn't "real"? Your brain would literally feel the "touch" of a real body, or feel the "love".

For those to whom the partners social status matters in attraction, bot would not do. They cannot satisfy the intangible attractors of alpha man. I can see a low-lvl man mbeing happy with a bot, but not a high-status woman. You can't derive any social value, providership, protection or status boost from a bot.

But overall I support the idea, a bot with emotionally intelligent AI that can somewhat keep up the suspension of disbelief, they would provide good enough partnership to millions lonely people and thus reducing all the ills it causes. But it will be decades before the AI's get anywhere near to the what was shown in movie She.

I think AI companion bots would make the world a whole lot better, I don't think many would disagree with this.

With that said there will still be a very healthy market for real relationships. Some people can't look past that their relationship is completely fake. I have never considered a prostitute in my life and this is one of the reasons. Even if I found one that truly found me extremely attractive at every level, I could never feel that I was having real sex or conversation and will assume they are going through the motions waiting for the clock to run. With a bot you know that it's all fake and you are essentially getting a fleshlight with an AI personality.

It probably wouldn't make the world a better place for children as it would further reduce or destroy the traditional family. Since a sexbot can't divorce you, sue for alimony, custody and child support, fewer people will get married. A sexbot can't 'accidentally' get pregnant either. In affluent countries I could see birth rates dropping even further.

At first, I imagine incels and low value men will be the first to openly own them and as ownership expands to higher value men, you'll see anti-sexbot groups with messages like "you can't have an emotional connection with a robot". That is a correct statement but that will also be an advantage to bots - not all emotional connections between humans are actually positive.

There's a major hurdle to selling male sex bots designed for women that hasn't been mentioned yet. Take a seemingly idyllic description of a male sex bot from /u/GridReXX elsewhere in this thread:

Actually an orgasm giving, non diseased, hotty, who would be okay with just fingering/heavy petting and cuddling and making meals and fixing things that break around the house sounds pretty good... Also no risk of pregnancy or "being sullied" by robot Mychal Kendricks.

What's wrong here? These are all passive, subservient, deferential, beta behaviors. Women are accustomed to men leading the interaction (even subtly) and it would be exceedingly difficult to program a robot to do this in a satisfactory manner. The level of difficulty would be far beyond being able to convincingly mimic basic human behavior -- it's hitting the perfect amount of alpha and beta traits that maximizes attraction yet minimizes behaviors that would piss her off. Furthermore, these alpha traits have to be simulated with the robot having no realistic option to go elsewhere. It's really hard to call someone on their shit when that person can just shut you off.

And if individual users could tailor the settings on their male sex bots? Look at the advice women think fixes relationships -- communicate more, don't initiate sex as much, do nice things for her, etc. Those behaviors by themselves kill attraction. Women would customize their robots to be "perfect" and then wonder why they aren't having that much fun.
