Any time I've seen a non-RP person (especially women) on reddit talk about TRP, it's demonized to hell and back. Talk about RP men being creeps, mysogonistic, angry at women, treating women as inferior, etc.

However, when I look at the main things I've learned and internalized from TRP, and how my life has benefitted so much from these things, I don't see any of that.

So, here are three things I've learned from TRP that I believe are true and are not hateful. What do you think?

  • Do not put women on a pedestal.

You should not immediately think a woman is amazing and fall in love with her when you barely know her. You should not treat any given woman any differently than a man. Don't give preferential treatment purely because they are a woman. Women don't want a man who views himself as inferior or "not worthy" to her.

  • You must be the less invested person in the relationship.

Any relationship I was in that has ended is because I became more invested in her than she was in me. I'm not hypothesizing this either, I've been told this directly. If you want a relationship with a woman to be successful and lasting, she needs to be more invested in you and the relationship than you are.

For me, this means two key things:

  1. Don't be overly needy/dependent/invested
  2. Be so wonderful that she can't help but be deeply invested in me (which mainly comes from a combination of continuous self-improvement as well as treating her wonderfully - making her always happy to be with me)

It doesn't need to be an insanely stark contrast - but you should not be more invested than her. I suppose being exactly equally invested would be fine, but that seems to be very uncommon. Usually one is more invested than the other, even if only slightly.

  • Many women expect a perfect man while offering little in return - if all a woman has to offer are her looks, don't enter a relationship with her.

Countless times, both in real life and on things like Tinder, OK Cupid, POF, etc. I've encountered women that expect the perfect man while not clearly offering anything substantial (beyond their looks and body) in return.

I can't even count the number of times I've seen a woman's profile on a dating app that sounds something like:

"I want/deserve a man who is

  • At least 6' tall
  • Fit
  • Makes good money
  • Passionate
  • Romantic
  • Caring"

And etc., while mentioning nothing about what positive things they offer.

In fact, a few times out of legitimate curiosity, I asked something like, "So you want all these great things in a man - what do you bring to the table to get an amazing man like that?" At which point I was promptly blocked.

If all a woman has going for her is her looks, that's sad - and not enough to make me seriously consider her. Before, it was more than enough. Now, I have higher standards.
