i had no strategy, never sought or dated "husband material", never wanted to marry, dated for marriage, cared about marriage or expected to marry. that being said i ended up engaged with rings and a license once in my late 20s (to the man i was with since 23) which ended in me dumping him and unexpectedly married the man i met exactly a year after dumping a few years later. courthouse wedding, just us, no fanfare, no kids. together almost 17 yrs now

I was married at 22 and divorced at 26. I was re-engaged at 34 and that ended prior to marriage when I was 38. I met Mr. Paisley at 41, moved in with him at 45 and we got engaged this year when I turned 48. He is 55 for reference.

met at (me)19/20(him), started dating at 20/21, eloped a month later at his insistence. Coming up on 15 years married in April.

Never had a plan for marriage, I knew it was expected of me but eloping with some musician I bought weed from was not at all what I or my family envisioned.

All in all it was worth it.

Not married, and it's not in my purview at this point in my life. I'm open to it for legal reasons, though - I have great health insurance, and if one of my sweeties needed it, I'd be amenable.

That sad, I was proposed to 4 times in my life: at 19, 23, 25, and 28.

I got married at 21. My husband is my first and only, but I never planned it. I'd thought that I'd do like my cousins - serial monogamy and maaaybe marriage.

It's a bit funny that as a teen I thought that I probably wouldn't get married, but I'd definitely have a child, and now I'm at my 20s and I'm married to my first boyfriend, but not sure about children.

Edit: We were both 15, when we met, we were univeristy freshmen.

I'm 24 and engaged; by the time the wedding rolls around we will both be 25. Having grown up in a fundamentalist evangelical environment, there was a cultural expectation for me to marry even younger than this, but I was never in a rush. 25 always sounded about right to me, and the cards just kind of fell into place. I met my fiance at 22 and instantly knew he was the one.

Never married but the whole experience of being engaged just sucked so much I never want to see another engagement related or marriage related thing near me. It’s just tainted.

If the answer is that you never want to get married, say that and your reasoning.

I don't expect to ever get married—unless the laws regarding it change so it's in my benefit to—because it's not in my benefit to right now.

Marriage has only downsides where I live in the sense that. Even a usus marriage where both parties retain independent property stil has some requirements of financial support and there are administrative costs to get married and later to divorce.

I see no advantage in a situation where I am responsible for the debts of another individual and in reverse, because I don't likely incur such a debt and if the other individual does so then I'm stuck with it too and then the creditors can collect upon me.

We met when I was 18, started dating just before 20, married at 22 when he was 29. I didn't anticipate getting married at all, I was very focused on myself and my own goals. My own dating history played a part in making me think that because no bf liked that situation despite claiming to understand it. They grew to resent it or me for living a truth I was up front about. "Watch what they do, not what they say" makes me laugh because even when both align people will lie to themselves if it makes them feel better. Or try to hold you accountable for whatever they told themselves.

We've been together 10 years and have 2 kids. Marrying him is still the best decision I ever made. Love is a great thing and the best feeling but it's potentially fleeting or volatile. It's exciting but you can't eat it, fuck it, live in it, so by itself it's nice but not enough. To be loved and understood though, that's the killer combo worth betting on imo.

Honestly I never had a "strategy". I never expected this at all. I just found a hot guy who liked me for some reason, we impulsively moved on together to save money and it turned out we were made for each other. I got lucky.

I'd hope to be married by around my mid to late 20's. I used to want to be married by my early 20's because I was a little tradcon-ish but I'm 18 and I realized I absolutely do not want to make such an important decision while I'm young and stupid.

35! We're getting married this summer.

I didn't really care about "marriage" generally, but am looking forward to being the Real Legal Official Wife of my particular partner.

ETA: I'm pretty sure we first met around like... 2011-ish? We gamed with each other off and on for a year or so, but he didn't actually know I was female. Once he did find out and started flirting, we found we had great chemistry. We visited each other at my place and his place in early 2013 and then he moved here in July that year. Been cohabitating since, have 2 kids.

I thought I would never marry. My own mother thought I would never marry. I never looked for a husband, never wanted a husband, was perfectly happy with the idea of finishing my Ph.D. and having a kick-ass career in The Big City. Honestly, I was pretty excited for that.

I met Mr. Arthur when I was 22 and fell for him literally the moment we met. It took another year for us to start dating. We married when I was 26 and he was 30.

If we hadn't met, I'm not sure I'd be married right now. My career places me in close proximity with a lot of cool fun smart guys, but so far, none of them have ever affected me even remotely closely to the way he did, and the idea of marrying someone who doesn't affect me that way just seems like tying a giant anchor to my ankle.
