People like to act like men have been shaming prostitutes and marrying/loving only chaste or virgin women for all of human history - one look at history proves this very, very wrong.

It was common in ancient east Asia for men to buy courtesans or actresses (who were often also prostitutes) out of their trade to marry them. The occupation itself was considered a normal, valid occupation to have.

Europe was often similar. What changed the world was the introduction of monotheistic religion that shamed promiscuity for both genders but primarily in women, essentially Christianity and Islam. - A lack of perception about the environment this person is in.
