Another CPS disclosure failure. Oh wait, no this is just about them trying to railroad an innocent man. "Disclosure crisis" is a media diversion.

I like this (back in Jan 2018):

Despite this statement of confidence in his own actions, Trudeau said he is subject to the same zero-tolerance policy he applies to everyone else.

“The standard applies to everyone,” he said. “There is no context in which someone doesn’t have responsibility for things they’ve done in the past

http://www.flare.com/news/justin-trudeau-metoo/

And then (still Jan 2018):

Trudeau elaborated on comments he made to the Liberal caucus Sunday, telling reporters that it is "essential" that women are believed when they come forward with allegations of harassment or assault

Hello...(June 2018):

Justin Trudeau Denies Groping Female Reporter at Festival in 2000

https://www.thedailybeast.com/justin-trudeau-denies-groping-female-reporter-at-festival-in-2000

[–]Rethgil 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Quick poll-does anyone think this ultimate White Knight, Trudeau, will eventually realise the fallacy of trying to please feminists? Or is he too far gone?

Seems to me he's beginning to get a much needed dose of reality: of how its a dead end ever trying to make feminists happy, no matter how much you prostrate yourself or throw other men under the bus.

Sooner or later, they'll turn on you too....

[–]cyjc 24 points25 points26 points 8 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Denying something when you're the accused is a different topic to considering reports of assaults by another person. One is a statement, another is a mindset/way of life/moral standard.

E.g. I did not steal that apple. On another topic, I believe reports of missing items should be looked into.

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points20 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"Looked into" does not equate to "believe."

[–]MLDdB 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To them anything except the most biased police investigation followed by unacceptable prejudice against the accused during trial that the mindset of always believing a woman (what about men?) conveys is unacceptable. These are, after all, the same people who enable the people in charge of trampling over the rights of men all over developed countries.

[–]unbelievablepeople 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

But the equivalent of your example as applied to Trudeau would be, "I did not steal the apple that the shopkeeper accused me of stealing. I also think it is essential that we always believe shopkeepers when they make an accusation that someone stole from their shops." Do you see the inherent conflict now?

[–]cyjc 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I understand your explanation. However, those two statements are two different things. Just because someone expresses their innocence, that does not mean they are against the case looked into. It's like saying..."I'm did not steal the apple but regardless, believe the shopkeeper's report and look into the case. Only then can we know who's truly guilty."

[–]Hotbbqwing 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He didn’t say we should investigate all claims, he said we should believe them. That’s a massive difference. You don’t have to completely believe someone to investigate.

[+]vortex30 -6 points-5 points-4 points 8 years ago* (11 children) | Copy Link

Yes, we should believe them to an extent that we open up an inquiry, be that simply looking into it further (bringing the accused in for questioning, or whatever) or laying charges and bringing the case to a court, etc. It doesn't mean the thief is "guilty" once accused, or ought not to deny the allegations if they're false. It is that we listen to the shopkeeper and open up a case.

Trudeau is denying the allegations, he's not saying that the police shouldn't look into this further though.

I see no problem here, unless Trudeau tries to prevent police from doing their job. Which up to now he has not.

The reason to believe and take accusations seriously is so that real victims feel comfortable coming forward. The reason is not to find every single accused person guilty of the crime they're accused of. It is to actually begin looking into whether a crime has in fact been committed. Unless Trudeau denies the police the ability to look into this, I don't think he is at all at odds with what he's said previously. He's never said that the accused can't stand up for themselves or fight the accusation. That would be asinine to even believe that is what he was implying or ever meant. You don't actually believe that is what Trudeau meant, do you? That the accused can never deny the allegations because we need to believe alleged victims? No, lol, the people doing the "believing" is supposed to be the police/whatever authority, not that the accused ought to believe it, even if they didn't do it, lmao, what possibly could have lead people to this kind of a notion, I have no idea...Oh wait, a reddit echo-chamber, that's what...

EDIT

Also...No one is even accusing Trudeau of any wrong-doing here. There's no "allegations", this was a one time event where he touched a woman and apologized for it and the woman moved on, apology accepted. That is just common human interactions and there's no accusation being brought forth. We are allowed to make a mistake, apologize, and both parties move on, not feeling wronged. The only people who feel wronged right now are White Knights, apparently, standing up for a woman who has moved on for 18 years, hasn't come forward, NOTHING. This is not the same as the other allegations.

[–]MLDdB 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago* (10 children) | Copy Link

You're purposefully distorting what was said. We are led to believe these were his exact words:

it is "essential" that women are believed when they come forward with allegations of harassment or assault

Which unequivocally reverses the burden of proof and lays it upon the accused individual, given that it is generally inclusive of both law enforcement and judicial system. It's still not incompatible with his extremely biased way of thinking, but it does mean that someone is guilty and has to fight for his innocence.

I would advise you to think again before coming to this sub and defend radical feminists like Trudeau and their cognitive dissonance.

[–]vortex30 -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link

All he's saying is believe them to an extent that a case is opened, and they're not turned away.

It is just people on this sub, who think he wants to corrupt the "innocent until proven guilty" mantra, because whether you guys like it or not, you are a part of the outrage culture that is sweeping the West. Its hilariously emasculating of you all, ironically. He's not saying, accusation = a crime was committed by the accused. He's saying accusation = a case should be opened. Because so many times, cases are not opened, so victims don't come forward because they think it is pointless. In the case of people working in public office, sure, it seems he has taken the approach that accusation = your job should be suspended until the case irons itself out. In some cases members have resigned, but I assume that was their choice instead of a suspension, as other members have taken suspensions (at least this is my understanding). Now, accusation = job suspension is not something unique to Trudeau, in fact it is the norm. Roberto Osuna of the Toronto Blue Jays has been suspended over allegations of domestic abuse until that case is complete. We see it every where with this #metoo movement. I don't actually agree with these particular actions myself, but it is the state of the world and not unique to Trudeau at all. It is a contemporary over-reaction stemming from decades of under-reactions. Eventually things will find a more rational balance. I don't think Trudeau is wrong to stay in his role as PM currently though, amid these dubious claims by The Sun, because we don't actually have any victim coming forward in this case whatsoever. At this time. Let's see what happens if/when a victim actually emerges. THEN we can call out hypocrisy if he does not at least suspend himself for a bit, until everything is ironed out.

I think it is really quite simple what he meant, and it is the job of people on here to twist those words and make it seem like something we should be up in arms over. Outrage culture at its finest.

Frankly I think this sub needs some dissenters. It is an echo chamber, clearly.

[–]MLDdB 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

No he isn't, you're inferring something he did not imply, especially given his radical feminist (a pleonasm, I know) stance on politics.

It is just people on this sub, who think he wants to corrupt the "innocent until proven guilty" mantra.

It's you who are saying he does not when he so clearly stated what he did, you are just adding points which he should have included in his statement but he didn't. He could have included that if he had chosen to do it but he didn't. And politicians speak every single word with clear intent, even the shine in their shoes is calculated. Your ramblings carry no weight whatsoever, all we have is his words and his known stance on this issue.

You are completely locked in your line of thought to the point where you claim "I think it is really quite simple what he meant" but provide no evidence to support that. To all of us it is completely obvious what he meant, which is what he said and no more. It's up to you to produce evidence on the contrary; you are the one who is holding an unsubstantiated opinion here. What is obvious to you is obvious only to your biased thinking and what's worse is that you are utterly incapable of processing this.

He said what he said, he said it clearly, he didn't add any other words to his statement. We know his stance on feminism. Stop trying to pass your unsubstantiated ramblings as an excuse to that imbecilic excuse for a man.

[–]vortex30 -4 points-3 points-2 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Nah, it's pretty simple my man. You're a victim of outrage culture. It's quite cute on you though! You sound like an outraged feminist. It's beautiful how these things come full circle.

The vast majority of us can infer what he meant, because we're not on the hunt for something to be outraged over. It is why most Canadians are not outraged over this, and you're all sitting here like, "How can't you see this!!!" It's because its not there, unless you're actively searching for it.

So cute!

[–]MLDdB 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

Who is the vast majority of us? And why is it that it is I who am on the hunt for something and not you who are so biased you actually consider valid inferring something without a shred of evidence? How can you tell that most Canadians are not outraged over this when there is pressure against making Mens Rights views known to the general public? And what if most Canadians are indeed complacent with this affront, would you mean that to be something that gives you the right to use the state and public institutions to trample on the rights of individuals?

Again you insist on trying to pass your opinion as fact, and this time instead of attacking my argument you attack me. That's the credibility of those who come into this thread sans absolutely any piece of evidence that Trudeau is not trying to do what he explicitly said he wants to do.

And it's funny because those are usually the (only) weapons of feminists but here you stand accusing others of things you are guilty of.

[–]vortex30 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

If Trudeau really wanted all victims to be believed to a point that accusation = guilt of the accused, then he'd legislate that, because he can. But he didn't, because he doesn't want to. Very simple, reality based, understanding of the situation.

Instead you take a single statement, extrapolate upon it by taking it to the absolute most literal extent, and that now defines the leader for you forever.

I didn't attack you. I said it how it is.

[–]Arrow218 62 points63 points64 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lollll. And I am guessing this won't make him wake up and realize the damage that kind of thinking can do.

[–]Ogg66 280 points281 points282 points 8 years ago (37 children) | Copy Link

Well it would not surprise me, it seems that a lot of these 'I am a feminist' men are being named. I don't trust male feminists, you can be all for equal rights and responsibilities but there is something to me a bit creepy about them.

This goes for men in childcare or nursing, too, I suppose? Men should be seen as predators, always hunting for sex, after all.

[+]2tread1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (12 children) | Copy Link

Not really the same thing.

[+][deleted] -46 points-45 points-44 points 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

It's not exactly the same thing but pretty much the same stereotype at work there (men should be seen as predators when children and women are involved). Downvoting doesn't solve the problem. :D

[–]Mhrby 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

No, the comic is making the point that SOME men are predators, and those who are, are going to go out of their way to get near their targets and appear not to be a predator, such as the male feminist

[+]Clemicus -6 points-5 points-4 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Which comic? Not sure about that (they go out of their way), however I do agree there are loads of creepy male feminists (from the few I've spoken to, some seem to feel guilty because they're male and some made my skin crawl).

It's misdirection. It isn't us, it's them over there. We're allies. Like if you're male and a Nurse, you're treated as being a threat because you're seen as being in the wrong space (hostile work environment).

[–]seedlesssoul 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Which was the basis of the whole conversation...

[–]Clemicus -5 points-4 points-3 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Heh... wouldn't the claim be rapists use camouflage then. You're talking some 5% of men and this is a joke and I'm digging a deeper hole so I should probably stop... typing...

[–]seedlesssoul 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

What? The claim is that like a wolf in sheep's clothing. It's not saying a percentage. I think you are looking too far into this and need to take a breath.

[–]vortex30 -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Kinda like some men who become teachers and nurses, etc? Got it.

I don't agree with any of this conversation by the way, not that feminist men are predators nor that teachers/nurses are. There's men that are predators, and they exist in all professions and belief systems. Just like the women that are predators. Some probably do purposely go for the roles we are discussing here, but the conversation is stupid because we can't possibly gather the numbers to prove any which way, and nurses/teachers makes just as much sense as feminists.

But you kinda didn't prove anything new in your last post either IMO..

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're circling around the point here so I'll help you out

[–]AloysiusC 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The difference is that there is a sizable heap of incidents of male feminists assaulting women. Some even openly declare themselves feminists as some kind of penance. Others just blatantly project their predatory mindset onto all men "It's my maleness that made me do it".

[–]DarkSunGwyn 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

not even remotely the same thing

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Male teacher here. Have fun thinking that while I cash my taxpayer provided paychecks (that means you kiddo)

[–]vortex30 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

What's this even really supposed to say/prove...? Your paychecks aren't very big or anything, and your role in society is a necessary one so why wouldn't we pay the bare minimum to have that role fulfilled...?

Just kinda a weird thing to bring up here..

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Idk what I was thinking when I made that comment to be honest. I think he was saying something about how men shouldn't be in childcare and that triggered me for a second. So for some reason I thought I'd be a good thing to say to them that in a small way they pay my paycheck. I guess I felt petty for some reason

[–]vortex30 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

It's ok man, it happens lol!

For what it's worth I don't think his point was that he thinks you're a predator. I think his point was that if we're to believe that men who claim to be feminists, are only doing it to get closer to their prey, then it'd be also reasonable to believe men who are teachers and nurses only did that as predators to become closer to their prey as well, which we all would agree isn't really true most of the time.

He was just kinda pointing out a double standard on this sub reddit. I don't think it was meant as a personal attack against teachers, but I could be wrong. I tend to agree with him, that it's easier to just assume the vast majority of male feminists, and male teachers and nurses, chose those paths from genuine beliefs and urges to help others, and that of course there are a small minority who chose those paths because they're sick fuckers. Sick people are all around, some are feminist, some are priests, some are teachers.. There's no data at this time to draw any correlation though so it's all a really silly argument

[–]AloysiusC 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I rather liked that response.

[–]tetraourogallus 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If your point is that it's wrong to suspect male feminists of being sexist without reason I can agree. We shouldn't suspect them of being sexists as we shouldn't suspect them of being anti-sexist just because they're feminist.

[–]originalSpacePirate 71 points72 points73 points 8 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

People who actually believe in equality dont have to shout it from the roof tops. These "male feminists" do so either to a) try and make a career out of white knighting or b) dont actually believe it and are using their pro feminist stance to try and get pussy (which doesnt happen, often making them frustrated and a bit molesty/rapey)

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Amen

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't fully agree. There are some truly self-loathing male feminists out there. Also, some of these allegations against male feminists may be total bullshit, but their feminist religion makes it impossible to fight them.

[–]Darmok-on-the-Ocean 20 points21 points22 points 8 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

There does seem to be a pattern with prominent social justice types turning out to be predators. I think it is sort of the liberal equivalent of all those anti gay politicians and pastors who got caught with male prostitutes and whatnot. Loudest people in the room often have something to hide.

Could be that they feel guilty over past wrongs. Me, I've got a colorful sexual past, sure, but I don't initiate physical contact or even explicit flirtation unless I'm absolutely sure it's desired. If I don't get positive vibes, I gradually and politely deescalate things and then leave.

Just like anti-gays, they tend to be closet gay and just hate themselves for it and can’t come to grips with it for years of their lives until eventually they crack. Same goes for the left wing sjw liberals that scream about racists and racism, all they see is racism because inside they are the ones that are the true racists, they see color everywhere they look. It’s what’s on the forefront of ones own mind.

[+]Rise_Of_War71 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link

If you think about it, being a white knight makes sense. It allows a pervert to molest women, and when confronted, they can say, "No that woman is lying, I'm all for equal rights and support women whole heartedly"

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points30 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I think there is a growing awareness that a lot of male feminists/white knights are creeps who abuse women.

[–]Tylorw09 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Ok so what is the right way for men to act about women and feminism?

It’s starting to become a very fine line to walk.

[–]RacelessSexlessName 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I work with women that are openly antifeminist because they see the psychotic behaviours and hypocrisy just as much as men do. It's not a line to walk at all, just don't buy into ideological bullshit. You can be an egalitarian [right/center/left/whatever] without buying into their bs. Not all women are feminists, the words aren't interchangeable any more than egalitarianism/equality is interchangeable with feminism. Treat everyone equally as people, when they prove they are morons, treat them like morons, when they prove they are smart, treat them better than a moron. Pretty simple.

[–]vortex30 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'd say just don't worry about it too much and it'll more likely than not never become an actual problem in your day to day life. Most of this drama only exists on the internet. Very little of it is real.

[–]immibis 14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You mean this? https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/parents/index.html

Vaccination is one of the best ways parents can protect infants, children and teens from 16 potentially harmful diseases. Vaccine-preventable diseases can be very serious, may require hospitalization, or even be deadly – especially in infants and young children.

Perhaps this one? https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/adults/index.html

You may not realize that you need vaccines throughout your life. Adults need to keep their vaccinations up to date because immunity from childhood vaccines can wear off over time. You are also at risk for different diseases as an adult. Vaccination is one of the most convenient and safest preventive care measures available.

Bear in mind that Kinsella is 1. a lawyer, 2. connected and 3. a gossipy asshole. But he was a big player in the Liberal party during the Chretien years, and he knows things and people. [–]vortex30 -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Where's the accusation of wrong-doing here? I don't see it. Trudeau touched a woman in 2000, allegedly, apologized, and she's moved on for 18 years and has never come forward with an accusation of wrong-doing. The Sun is currently acting as a White Knight accuser for a woman who apparently does not feel she was wronged. Very different situation from the others I am reading about. This is a right-wing tabloid, digging up an opinion piece from a local paper from the year 2000, in which Trudeau may have conducted himself poorly, and apologized for it, and all parties have moved on, not feeling like any wrong-doing suitable for sexual assault allegations was committed. Other than The Sun. Who weren't there and have no idea what went on.

There are no allegations here. Just shitty journalism and leaps of logic.

It is not a crime to touch a woman and apologize and for her to accept that apology and move on with her life. It is a non-issue and completely different from the allegations that got members of Parliament suspended. Because there's no victim here coming forward whatsoever.

[–]geeses 56 points57 points58 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I believe people should be judged by their own standards.

If he thinks victims should be believed, then they should in this case as well.

I wouldn't say that's hypocrisy, just allowing people to see the idiocy of their own beliefs.

[–]vortex30 -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't think he stated that the police should not look into this matter. He stated his innocence. That is perfectly in line with his beliefs. He's never said that the accused can't deny the allegations. He's said allegations should be taken seriously/believed by the police upon first allegation, and then looked into further.

There's no hypocrisy here, unless he actively prevents an inquiry.

[+]Hifen -11 points-10 points-9 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[–]vortex30 -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Except no individual has come forward and accused him of that, so...There's no "victim" here to be "believed". There's a person who he may have touched, apologized to, and quite apparently, she accepted the apology. That's not a victim. That's not an accusation. That's an event that happened and all parties moved on from it happy. It happens every day.

[–]Hotbbqwing 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just because she excepted the policy doesn’t make her not a victim. She wrote about how she was groped. That’s sexual assault. Trudeau himself said women must be believed, so that makes him someone who commits sexual assault.

[–]geeses 31 points32 points33 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Trudeau said victims/accusers should be believed, right? Where is the victim/accuser, I ask you? The Sun? The Sun wasn't involved. The woman? The woman isn't accusing Trudeau of any wrong doing, and he is saying he did nothing wrong. Case closed.

[–]Lostyogi 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I get what you are saying. However in the dark and gritty world of activism things are not so black and white. The quote "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules." is a direct quote from the book. Also in this instance we of the MRA are the radicals. Rules for radicals is the bible when it comes to changing ideas of society and moving governments to where you need them to be. I kind of suggest you and everyone here read it. Especially if you want to be a real world activist for men and boys.

What we have here with Justin and his allegations is a learning point. If Justin Quits then he quits, there is not much to do but give him points for sticking with his beliefs. If he stays and says the allegations are false and makes an effort to not fire people just because they are accused of something then we will stand with him. However, if he stays and still condemns others who are just accused then we have to hold him to his own rule book.

[–]vortex30 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There are no allegations from an affected party. All parties involved have moved on with their lives happily for 18 years. It is just The Sun digging up an event that happened privately between two people, neither of which feel like a victim of said event. [–]zelda0934 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm left wing and I'm so glad this is happening. Justin Trudeau is a hardcore feminist even for a liberal.

We need less feminism in liberal politics, not more. Also IMO "liberal feminist" are neither liberal nor on the left, they are authoritarian with a dogmatic moral framework. From my perspective they are in the same bucket as traditional Christians, orthodox Jews and radical Muslims. All right wingers.

If anyone deserves to be falsely accused, though, it's someone who doesn't support others who were falsely accused.

The same goes for due process. If anyone deserves to have their due process rights threatened, it's someone who doesn't support other people's due process rights.

[–]vortex30 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

See him doing what? Having an interaction with a woman and apologizing and all parties moving on with their lives? Yeah I can see that too. Nothing bad happened here, there is no victim coming forward. Trudeau is denying any wrong doing, because there's simply no "wronged" individual coming forward! This is all pretty laughable. Until a victim actually emerges, it is safe to say she probably felt like the apology was a proper amends for the act. In reality, what probably occurred was he touched her butt or boob when they were chatting/flirting. She didn't like it, he apologized, she accepted the apology, case closed. This isn't sexual assault, this is normal human interactions, where one person thought things were moving in one direction, the other didn't feel that way, and an oopsies happened and no one felt particularly wronged, just one of those moments of, "Oh, well that's really embarrassing, I meant no harm and I hope we can move on as rational individuals." The situation I just described, is not sexual assault.

[–]Hotbbqwing 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sexual assault is defined as unwanted sexual contact. If he didn’t receive consent beforehand, he literally committed unwanted sexual contact. It’s hilarious watching you try to tip toe around what happened.

[–]AloysiusC 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You realize one can be both agnostic about the accusation and amused by it?

Also there's a strategic element to holding your opposition to their own standards. Like telling him if he's really serious about getting women into politics, he should step down and put his efforts into supporting a vagina-owning person (VOP from now on).

[–]nforne 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Let me explain it using another situation as an example, as I think the politics are getting in the way a little.

Let's say there's a married TV evangelist who makes his living telling others that they're sinners if they have sex outside of marriage, and that prostitution should be illegal. Now let's say he gets caught having sex with a prostitute.

Sorry but I would find that hilarious. I would revel in his fall from grace. That I happen to think prostitution should be legal is not going to stop me enjoying the moment.

That's what's going on here. Trudeau has pontificated about believing the victim by default, and it appears he may have been hoist by his own petard.

It's nothing to do with politics.

[–]Hifen 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Caught is they key word here, which is different then accused.

[–]nforne 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do I think he was guilty of some heinous act? Nope, he probably wasn't.

But he was pushing "believe the victim" when he should be pushing "trust the courts".

If you back "believe the victim" to score points with female voters, and then evidence turns up that you may have acted inappropriately yourself, you cannot do an about-face and say "but I haven't been found guilty of anything". He helped build the gallows that he'll be hung on.

It's really a case of be careful what you wish for.

[–]j-dawg-94 -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I can't believe this sub rn "he is a creepy narcissist, I'm not surprised" hmmm how about we wait to see if there is an iota of validity to these claims before we stop giving the dude the benefit of the doubt? What is this subreddit even for? Mensrights? Or thedonald lmao.

I'm waiting to see how this pans out before making any sort of negative judgement at all, but it sure feels like convenient timing given his openly harsh stance vs russia and trump recently with the tariff scandal as well as the G7 summit. But who knows I guess.

[–]vortex30 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, no victim has even emerged. There are no accusations, other than from The Sun, a right wing tabloid. Some interaction occurred, the details of which we know nothing of. Trudeau apologized. Apparently the woman felt the apology was perfectly adequate for what occurred and has moved on for 18 years and still has yet to emerge as an actor in this saga. The Sun just dug up some tiny op ed from a local newspaper from the year 2000, brought it up to Trudeau, and he said, yeah, nothing wrong happened there. Which he's right about. Because there is NO VICTIM HERE. Not yet, anyways. Maybe she will come forward, but by this stage, I kinda doubt it. I assume she felt the apology was perfectly apt and she'd rather continue on with her life, than ruin Justin's, over what was probably a flirtatious grab of the butt or boob, or a kiss or whatever. We have very few details. But sexual conduct is NOT sexual misconduct unless there is someone out there who feels like a victim. And thus far, there is no one coming forward, who feels like a victim. Except for The Sun of course, The Sun is swimming in crocodile tears for this woman.

[–]macgarthur 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So wait. They reported this back in 2000 when it happened and he even apologized for the act, admitting it. Now he's turning around and saying it never happened. Well which is it?

Also if you're going to apply a zero tolerance stance then it also needs to apply to you. This is so hypocritical. If this had happened to someone else Trudeau would be tossing them under the bus in an instant to show he's a feminist.

[–]vortex30 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Apology in Canada is not an admission of guilt. Trudeau is saying no wrong-doing occurred. He apologized, and all parties have moved on to this very day. That to me, would indicate that indeed no wrong-doing occurred. "Handling" somebody is not "wrong" if the "handled" party leaves the incident feeling like they haven't been wronged. Which evidently is the case here, so...

[–]unbelievablepeople 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think the issue with Trudeau is that when anyone else is accused of something like this, he typically falls into the "Believe all women" camp. But when Trudeau himself is accused, he wants us to believe him and call the woman accusing him a liar.

My own feeling is, EVERYONE is entitled to the presumption of innocence. And at the same time I'm sympathetic to victims of sexual assault because I know how difficult that makes it for them: They accuse someone, and giving the accused the presumption of innocence necessarily requires treating their accusations with some skepticism. It's just a difficult situation, and I think the point we need to make is that Trudeau deserves the presumption of innocence, but we also hope that this case gives him greater respect for the presumption of innocence as applied to others.

Final note: I have deep and conflicted feelings about this because I was abused as a child, and because when I was a young adult I was falsely accused of a crime (not abuse, the crime I was accused of was theft). It bothers me that nothing ever happened to my abuser, and there's a part of me that wishes it were as simple as me telling my story and he'd go to jail. But I'm also glad that I had the presumption of innocence on my side when I was falsely accused.

[–]vortex30 -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Where's the woman accusing Trudeau of wrong-doing? I don't see her anywhere. This is just a tabloid digging something up that all parties involved have moved on from and don't feel bad about. There is no "case" here.

This is a non-issue without a victim coming forward.

[–]falsehood 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Any one person making an unprovable accusation (without other evidence) isn't news. The people we're hearing about right now all have multiple accusers who still aren't believed.

A newspaper editorial from a credible source on the other hand...

[–]vortex30 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The Sun isn't credible. The article from 2000 is cute and all, but no victim has come forward with any current allegations.

It would appear to me, that all parties involved have moved on. Except for The Sun. Who actually were not involved at all and have no idea what transpired, they're just White Knighting, so nevermind.

[–]TheNakedMars 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

A denial coming from the same man who savagely attacked that female MP on the floor of parliament? Justin's misogynistic pattern of brutish behaviour is well-established.

[–]vortex30 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hahahahahahhahaha you're fucking joking right?

This post wreaks of Alt-Right douchbaggery. Extreme left or right politics have no place in this sub.

[–]tmone 30 points31 points32 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Haha. When you can't articulate a well thought out rebuttal, just scream alt right!

This douchebag has suspended members of Parliament for being accused, it's about the hypocrisy. You are reaching.

[–]vortex30 -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Accused, yes, by actual humans coming forward and accusing them. Not some right wing tabloid accusing them of something all parties involved with have continued to move on from to this very day. This is way, way different, until or unless an actual victim emerges.

[–]Daemonicus 24 points25 points26 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't see how. He has been, and still is pretty open about his Feminist bias. Or at least his Feminist pandering. Reporting on possible sexual misconduct isn't extreme in any way. It's holding him to the same standard he tries to force on everyone else.

Agreed, articles like this are nonsense. I'm a longtime subscriber, but this helped me unsub.

This subreddit does generally lean to the right.

[–]RacelessSexlessName 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

People say I'm a bit right leaning but I think of myself as closer to center... can attest this sub and most of it' subscribers are left of the center, just not as far or insane left as the rest of reddit. To the extreme left psycho feminists, even a normal left is a right.

[–]daniellederek 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

At least it's been proven in court in canada that if your prepared to drop high 5 figures on lawyers you can do whatever you want. You can grab them by the pussy. You can choke spank and do pretty much anything in an ongoing sexual reationship. Just be sure to keep the electronic communications explicit and backup a copy to have on hand.

Trudeau is a total soy boy. He is getting cucked as we speak by Trump on trade deals.

[–]porygonzguy 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Keep your nonsense in your containment sub, thanks.

[–]Vwar -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago* (13 children) | Copy Link

lol no. Only an actual "cuck" would try to fuck over their closest allies while bending over for China. That's your Trumpkin.

Edit: and when it comes to Israel, Trump is possibly the biggest American cuck in history. Compare him to Kennedy or Eisenhower, who actually had the balls to stand up to Israel. Trump is basically an alpha poodle -- he barks loud at his neighbors, but he spreads his cheeks for his donors. Ultimate. Cuck. :)

[–]PIG_CUNT 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

he spreads his cheeks for his donors.

Unlike everyone else? LOL! Puh-leaze.

[–]Vwar 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Actually, some leaders have a sense of what's called "honor" and respect their allies. Others are chickenshit and go after their allies while spreading their cheeks for eg China. It is what it is pal.

[+]PIG_CUNT -8 points-7 points-6 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Right, right. LOL

The fantasy images you create exist because of your ignorance and naïveté, not because the world works the way you think it does.

[–]Vwar 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Washington dedicates a large part of his farewell address to discussing foreign relations and the dangers of permanent alliances between the United States and foreign nations, which he views as foreign entanglements. This issue dominated national politics during the French Revolutionary Wars between France and Britain.

Meanwhile, Trump places the interests of a foreign nation (Israel) above his own...what a patriot lol.

Read this

Written by a couple of fairly conservative acadmics -- not Ben Shapiro lol. They make Jordan Peterson look like a cuck.

[–]PIG_CUNT -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You’ve gotten yourself way off track on a mental runaway, LOL I said nothing about Trump or Israel.

Read what I wrote and attempt to not be so scatterbrained.

[–]Vwar 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

If you think you're embracing Realpolitik you couldn't be more moronic. Because Realpolitik requires allies. Machiavelli talked about this extensively. You're just way out of your depth, young lady, as your leader Trump.

Look, your leader is attacking America's closest allies while defending various...other countries. Unless you are completely retarded, you can probably see the problem with this strategy.

Since you seem to care about "alpha males" the most -- well, I'm sorry to say, but Trump is the biggest bitch I've ever seen in terms of kowtowing to foreign powers, notably Israel.

[–]PIG_CUNT -3 points-2 points-1 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Look at your ad hominem insults and your incorrect assumptions. LOL

You also got yourself WAY off track. You keep harping on Trump. I said you’re wrong that all leaders don’t spread their cheeks for those who bring them money.

[–]Vwar 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I said you’re wrong that all leaders don’t spread their cheeks for those who bring them money.

I never said that though. And I agree they do. :)

[–]PIG_CUNT 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Then why are you babbling and insulting me about your incorrect assumptions about my positions on things? Sheesh

[–]RacelessSexlessName 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Insults is all they have... it's all you ever hear from them. Hillary would have been just as shitty overall. We need a full system reset, a nice good big natural disaster or something...

[–]non-troll_account -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He suspended members of Parliament for being accused, it's about the hypocrisy.

But yeah. Go on ahead with your conspiracies.

[–]vortex30 -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No victim has come forward to accuse Trudeau of any wrong-doing. Sorry to burst your bubble, but at this stage, this is just fluff. Him not-stepping down, over this, is not hypocrisy at all unless you're a shill just grasping for the slightest hints of hypocrisy. Until an actual victim emerges, nothing wrong here. No one was suspended over right wing tabloids accusing them of anything. Trudeau never stated that right wing tabloids ought to be believed.

This. Is. Fluff.

And you've all fallen for it.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Woah there bud...you already talking about taking down the Canadian PM and hacking the election? Although this could do it I suppose.

[–]vortex30 -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just so everyone here knows, "The Sun" is essentially Canada's version of Breitbart, so there's that..It is essentially a right wing tabloid these days, not journalism.

[–]vortex30 -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Lethn 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]dragontail -5 points-4 points-3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In your head being a male feminist is a bad thing

[–]Lethn 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have never kept that viewpoint hidden, being a male feminist though isn't just a bad thing, it's ridiculous, it's like a black man becoming a KKK member.
