I wish more women understood the sheer power they hold by leaving men after the first sign of disrespect.

It’s hard especially when you’ve invested time and shared positive experiences with them, but you are always better off walking away.

Never argue or waste more time on someone who disrespects you. Men lose respect for women who stick around and put up with abuse anyways. Don’t be that girl. Walk away or block / delete.

It's so empowering knowing I can (and have, and do, and will) walk away if I'm not happy. I've had men and women both work themselves into fits when I've refused to engage or argue with men. It's amazing.

So many women attempt to prove themselves to misogynistic men and "change" them because they have "main character syndrome" or "not like other girls" syndrome.

Somehow no other woman on earth has managed to convince this man to stop being a misogynist, but I'm different because I'm smart and logical so he'll have no choice but to listen to me and respect me. Lol.

I used to think this way and I cringe at my younger self so hard. I just want to go back in time, shake her and say "no, you are NOT special, you are not different than other girls, that man is not going to listen to you just because you study psychology and read libfem garbage".

When I growing up, HVM father told me that the most effective thing you could do to distance yourself from a disrespectful/toxic person is ignore/grey rock them. Just don’t give them any of your time or attention. Don’t talk to them, don’t talk about them, just pretend they never existed. It gets the point across, it doesn’t create gossip or drama, and it frees you from that person.

It’s the best way to protect yourself from misogynistic men. When a man shows you who he really is, then cool, now you know to never give him another second of attention or thought. “This isn’t working. It’s over. Goodbye.” is the only thing you have to say/text. Then block and delete. It’s simple, effective, and safe. If you continue to give them NOTHING, they will eventually leave you alone.

Yeah, just the fact that they're so upset about us refusing to be with them means it's actually a tactic that works.

If you try to educate and support them, they'll exhaust you; if you try to debate them, they'll gaslight and lie to you. If you try to prove yourself to them, they'll keep moving the goalposts; and when none of that works anymore, they'll resort to violence.

Sometimes the only defense is distance.

In the movie The Irishman women characters are not very present at all, and some feminists were angry about that. But their absence was the sort of the point. The main character is a violent, toxically masculine person, but the women in his life exercise a different kind of power. They are not on board for his criminal lifestyle, and thus, they're not in his life. In the end, he gets what he deserves: nothing.

We need to boycott bad men

Don’t give them any time, energy, investment or interaction. Remove all of their access, men thrive on controlling women, and often will try to provoke reactions to feed off women’s emotions and attention.

The best thing we can do is not letting them feel the satisfaction of affecting us.

I’ve been the girl who knew enough to put her foot down and dump him, but not enough to block and delete, which is 100% the same as sticking around and putting up with it. The best option is always to get out of there the MOMENT he disrespects you in any way. Even if it’s small. (It’ll get big, I promise.) Even if he’s “sorry.” (He’s gonna keep being “sorry” for the rest of your life, and the more access he has to you, the sorrier you’ll be.) Skip it. Block and delete the first time!

I needed this today. I work with my ex, which is a special kind of hell. He pulled a number of thoughtless stunts which led to the demise of our relationship, but today was the first time he extended that thoughtlessness to my work. I just had this boy, I won’t even grace him with the word of calling him a man tell me that all this time we had spend together, including us cuddling, chatting everyday, going on dates was us being friends. He had the audacity to tell me that he thought I was being affectionate as his friend. Needless to say, I walked out without even bothering to explain the why of it because I shouldn’t have to teach you how to be a man. SMH
