I am of the opinion that men who are repulsed by hair down there either watch too much porn or have pedophilic tendencies. It’s not natural, and I’ve personally never actually met a man in real life who would admit to it, every guy I’ve ever slept with hasn’t batted an eye at trimmed (not shaven) pubic hair. And as far as I know, none of those guys were into porn. Why are you soooo accustomed to never seeing hair, I guarantee you every woman they’ve ever slept with wasn’t clean shaven? They either want to replicate porn or they want you to look 12, that is not what a sexually mature woman’s genitalia looks like. I get not wanting hair in your mouth but there’s a difference between wanting things to be tidy and demanding it be completely bare like a ten year old or a porn star or hes not turned on.
[–]dahmerloveszombiesFDS Newbie52 points53 points54 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
tbh, I’ve never gone full clean-shaven and not a single man has ever once batted an eye. i’m naked in his bed... he should be stoked af.
*edit to add: that’s by no means to say that men who are disgusted by women’s pubic hair don’t exist, because they do seem to be the majority.

Obviously they exist, but I've never met a man who cared about any hair on my body. Maybe it's my age. In the past I've warned them I haven't shaved and they always tell me they don't give af, even the shitty ones. I still remember, as a young teen, the immense pressure and shame to shave my legs. I really hate how that's a thing.
[–]jeanneeebeanneeeFDS Apprentice26 points27 points28 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I think a lot of the pressure comes from western beauty standards that are enforced by the media and advertising. (Making you feel like you're not good enough the way that you are is basically the main function of advertising, especially print ads aimed at women.)
Porn does appear to have a big influence as well. Full Brazilian waxes, anal bleaching, etc were unheard of in the US until internet porn became ubiquitous.
[–]JSW_pilotFDS Newbie8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This. It sells product to work up any insecurity or make things something to be insecure about. No girl thinks hairy pits are wrong until they get surrounded by a group of people that think it’s wrong. And yes, porn is what guys come to expect from women. And since porn likes to cross borders (into underage stuff)- of course being hairless down there is popular.
[–]qtsarahjFDS Newbie1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Not only this, but when companies advertise hair removal products or razors the legs are completely smooth and have no hair. The women in the ads are shaving or waxing completely bare legs. We have a huge problem if companies advertising razors can’t even show their product removing body hair in ads.
[–]Ms_TillyRuthless Strategist0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I hadn't even thought of that!
[–]junesunflowerFDS Newbie10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I have almost invisible blonde hair that grows on my legs. My ex could not even see it, but he felt it if he brushed my lower leg (I usually only shaved about once a week, so not like it was long.) He told me I needed to shave better. This was in the first few months of dating. Thank goodness I am no longer with him.
[–]Notaclarinet1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
On the flip side, so many people ask me why I’m bothering to shave my legs during quarantine but I do it for myself. I don’t shave my pubic hair but I really love the feeling of shaved legs and clean sheets. Not everything women do is to please men.
[–]Ms_TillyRuthless Strategist5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You think that's true, but if shaving was never a thing you probably wouldn't think that way. I've been shaving for so long that it feels wrong not to. I still don't because I'm single and there's absolutely no reason to, but I have been conditioned all of my life to want them shaved.

[–]NoThisIs-PatrickFDS Disciple218 points219 points220 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I wax my arms and shave everything but my head/face, but contrary to popular belief it's actually more hygienic to have at least some pubic hair. It protects against friction, which can cause its own issues.
A man can admit he likes a clean-shaven woman, but if he claims it's due to "hygiene" then he's a fucking idiot and you should stop seeing him just because he's stupid. Own your preferences and don't try to be a little bitch ass justifying your shit.

[–]HornetKickFDS Newbie18 points19 points20 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I've done it too and it's not fun. It was only on my leg but I once shaved a complete track of skin off the front of my leg (between the fibula and tibia bone) because it's basically bone and one would need to go slow there. I only use depilatory creams now.
[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not only against friction, it protects our genitals from bacteria and other pathogens (thus preventing STIs, UTIs, etc) and also are linked to pherormones transmission, which induce sexual attraction.
Pubic hair means we've passed puberty therefore have reproductive ability. The very fact this culture, and some men don't seem to appreciate it shows how pedophilic tendencies are so prominent.
[–]randomgirlimokFDS Apprentice129 points130 points131 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Not necessarily, could be just an act. I knew a NVM who said the same thing, he was very much about “equal rights.” Including making his gf pay half of HIS mortgage if she wanted to move in, because it was “fair”. She never did move in because what woman would sign up to pay half his mortgage that your name isn’t on, and then basically be his slave/maid. “But my mortgage is cheaper than your rent” he said. Lol
[–]ParticularMonth0FDS Newbie92 points93 points94 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
And gold digger men always want an 18 year old on minimum wage to pay half, lol.
What should we call gold digger men? Bro-diggers?

[–]thowawaywookieFDS Newbie8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I've heard about quite a few women paying half, plus all the childcare and wifework because equality. It usually ends up he has a bunch of extra money while she has very little.

Thanks to lockdown I have pubic hair for the first time in my life... being nearly 30 that’s a really strange thought. Why did 13 year old me feel the need to shave my hair off?? No one saw me naked for another 3/4 years. Such sexualised youth.
[–]Lost_Dust1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Holy crap. This!! You're so right!
[–]PowderedRamen0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
30 minutes... lol.
I started shaving too, at about same age, and still keep up with it tho I haven't been in a relationship for years now. Only got it grown out once when I had chickenpox at 19 and couldn't shower for two weeks. For some reason I really don't like the feel of body hair, but the entitlement of a NVM to demand to decide over another is astonishing.

[–]idkwhattoputhere000FDS Newbie[S] 54 points55 points56 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
So do I. I agreed with the posters viewpoint, his notion wasn’t “men should shave” but “women shouldn’t be pressured by society to be hairless like a dolphin”.

I dunno, I prefer my men with less hair and find for example a full-on beard a dealbreaker, so no need to shame people's preferences by referring to them as "quite disturbing and unattractive" to make your point across.
[–]2340000Ruthless Strategist103 points104 points105 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This is just one of his opinions. It's a wonderful perspective, but it has nothing to do with his character. What is his character? That's the only thing that can make him HV.
If we rely on singular actions and not behavioral patterns, we'd be the blind leading the blind🤷

Exactly zero men that I’ve dated have noticed that I have leg hair
yeah, it's mainly only people on trains and walking down the street that stare and give you a hard time. If you look at them you'll realise that they can't shave off their ugliest features and therefore, are probably just jealous!

This mindset should be the bare minimum! Regardless, it’s refreshing to see.
[–]asiancountrymusicfanFDS Newbie61 points62 points63 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This is actually something I’ve thought about a lot. I’ve never had a relationship (simply because I’ve been hyper focused on schoolwork and goals) so I’ve never really had to shave or worry about my lady parts. I think a deep part of me is afraid the first time I am intimate with a guy that he will recoil in disgust at my natural hair.
Then again, that’s why you date him a bit before hopping in the sack to see if he’s that kind of punk ass bitch. If that’s the case, not gonna let any man shame me.

Happened to me as a 16 year old with my first boyfriend 🙃 ETA: I asked him to go down on me (yeah I really had to ask) and he did it for about 10 seconds and stopped and said “it’s like kissing Chewbacca.” I started shaving everything off from then on.

[–]umbralgardenFDS Newbie5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I get the logic, but in context it just doesn't make sense: continuing to rag on women and the men that support them is "punching down" and why it isn't fair or equal for the patriarchy to double down just because women started rising up. I hate this word and how it's often used but the ignorance of their long standing privilege is insane.

In the 70s, nobody shaved down there and nobody cared.
Is the guy HVM? Hell no. The bar is buried in the sewer for men, so the slightest comment supporting women, gets him some pussy points.

I do trim mine BECAUSE I WANT TO. I would be appalled if a guy was like “yeah you have to keep it clean shaven” or whatever, this is my body, I do with it as I want to. Same goes for leg, and armpit hair, I do shave those BECAUSE I WANT TO, if I guy wanted to “require” it, it would be a big enough red flag to leave.

I personally like shaving. I find pubic hair annoying, coarse and not comfortable. I don't do Brazilians though (so not 100% bare) and I like how soft my legs are afterwards and my pits don't hold stench as much when shaven. So I shave for me. Haha.
