This reminds me of a memory that I have from my longest pick-me/LVM relationship.
The two of us were watching movies in his friend's basement and I leaned over and whispered "i have a really bad headache" under my breath, because I did and I was hoping we could leave. My LVM pat my shoulder, shrugged, and kept watching the movie.
All of a sudden, my LVM's friend's little brother leaves and comes back into the room with a glass of water and ibuprofen.
That was a huge wake up call for me. I had never been taken care of like that by a man who wasn't my dad.

Incels want to comment that this guy is a pussy ass bitch so bad but can’t cuz this is our sub 💁🏻♀️💁🏻♀️💁🏻♀️
One of my friends said her father went out and bought period protection and other female necessities for her when she was a teenager. Like a man who buys pads for you and notices when you’re running low on shampoo? Women across the world do this for their husbands but we can’t even do much as expect them to do this for us.
[–]RiasXgremoryXFDS Disciple170 points171 points172 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I'm SO glad they can't comment. They would be calling this guy "simp" and saying other incorrect things about his character not knowing that this is what a man is supposed to do for his wife/girlfriend.
[–]hypointellectualFDS Newbie33 points34 points35 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This sub would literally be a cesspool of unhealthy shit if men could comment. It’s a female-only environment for a reason. Men just don’t want women to ban together and collectively learn and boycott their bad behavior.

Now that you say it like that, it's true. I'm glad I'm on FDS because before coming here I had already given up on finding a man who notices little things like that.

Aw 🥰 this reminds me of how my fiancé went to the store and bought me a box of tampons when I started my period during my shift. I completely forgot I was gonna start that day possibly and was so embarrassed :( He drove over 40 minutes to bring me the box and some of my favorite chocolate to make me feel better. All my coworkers playfully teased me after they saw me walking around with him :')

I was my spouses first adult girlfriend, and I vividly recall asking him to pick me up some panty liners in college. Later he had a pile of like 7 packs, because "I know you have the orange package... But there's like 7 different oranges packages!"

Ugh triggered to when ex was like he hated my mood swings when I was on my period. I used to have a lot of pain during periods and he hated it. I was total pick me back then and I remember feeling so sad because I didn’t know how to control my tiredness/pain/irritation🙄🙄
[–]chateauduchatFDS Newbie78 points79 points80 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Wow my narc ex was like this too. He used to say really mean things like “are you on the rag” ALL THE TIME when I would bring up something he did that made me upset or hurt my feelings. And of course when he said that, it made me furious. And the thing is, I almost never get mood swings, and my pms doesn’t usually affect me. I usually just get more tired during it. But he made it x1000 times worse.
[–]tellmesomething11FDS Apprentice40 points41 points42 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Yeah mine was a narc. It’s crazy how similar they are. Mine also said “are you on the rag”, and once I called him out- said he was sexist and mean to women and later he tried to laugh it off and make me take it back. Nope. But yes, I do get pain but mostly just tired. And since I do so much, I can’t afford to have even a little less energy. But yeah narcs are the worst. He’s my worst ex ever.
[–]chateauduchatFDS Newbie37 points38 points39 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Holy moley girl same. It was the most insanely abusive nightmarish relationship I’ve ever been in. I kinda don’t know how I finally made it out sometimes. The amount of work I’m still doing after all this time to be in a healthier mindset and repair the trauma that has been done to me has been astronomically difficult. I swear though, all narcs say and act the same shit, like they all operate on the same corrupted fuckboy.exe program.
[–]tellmesomething11FDS Apprentice17 points18 points19 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I won’t lie it’s been the hardest to recover from. I have a tolerable mindset now, but the amount of heaviness in my heart and pain I suffered after the breakup was astounding - and I broke up with him. I struggle still because I constantly think about him. I really respect my mother, my dads a narc and she left and never went back. I don’t know how many times it took, but she did it. I feel really weak around my nex so I just try to pretend I don’t exist so he’ll forget me, which hasn’t happened yet and it’s been two years.
I don’t even have kids with my nex! It’s like I don’t even know him, and it’s crazy because I loved him so much. Ugh. I’m glad I left, because he was exhausting to be with. I just wish I could forget him. I tried to pretend he was dead and that didn’t work either
[–]chateauduchatFDS Newbie18 points19 points20 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I’m so sorry you’re going through that. Girl, SAME. There’s not a day where I don’t think about him either. Everyday I think about him a little less though. The kind of manipulation and trauma bonding a narc will put you through is so difficult to move past from. Literally it took me probably near 50 or something times of breaking up and getting back together. That’s how deep I was in the hole. I remember one time when we broke up I was so mad at myself, desperate to stay away from him to the point I was yelling at MYSELF why am I so stupid to continue going back to him but like I couldn’t stop. I literally felt like my brain was on a drug. And I’ve never done drugs and I don’t even drink. But the “addiction” was there. That’s how a narc mentally controls you. Lovebombing with all those happy neurochemicals followed by devaluation and discarding, and then hoovering, and then lovebombing... the cycle continues. Your brain becomes so molded by it, so subtly, that you don’t even notice you’re even being abused. And then when you are, you’re in denial of it. And then by then, unconsciously, so much trauma is being flung at you. I literally have this sub and some self help books that FORCED ME to stay away by sheer motivation and willpower. I highly recommend reading Why Does He Do That by Lundy Bancroft, as well as The Sociopath Next Door by Martha Stout, and Psychopath Free by Jackson MacKenzie. Moving past it is no joke.
The thing is, I don’t want to think about him either. I want to move on completely. I don’t want him to live rent-free in my headspace. I don’t want him to affect my mood. I don’t want him to affect a future relationship. I don’t want him to have the satisfaction of living in my head. I don’t want to be weak again ever to the point where I have to reach out. I won’t allow it. I do wish he didn’t exist so that any possibility of him reaching out to me would be nil.
As a narc, he would probably describe even thinking about him that way as love. It’s almost sad how delusional they are. Almost.
[–]tellmesomething11FDS Apprentice3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thank you so much. I’ve read Lundys book, it helped me stay away when it all went down. I agree with everything you said. I know I was abused and he’s done this a million times. I also know he’s dead inside. But I’m not so there’s that❤️

Wow. I have to track my period because it always comes on different dates how did he know? Does your period come at the same time each month? I never discuss this with women so I’m curious
[–]HahaneFDS Newbie4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Yes, usually at the same time each month, but he somehow felt it, I don't know how. He just knew. He was pretty empathetic, but he never acted on it - I mean, he felt immediately that something was wrong, but he often chose to ignore it. Stuff like that. I noticed it after few months. He felt that I was tense or just a bit off and then I wouldn't hear of him for a few days.
[–]tellmesomething11FDS Apprentice6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Haha! What a jerk. What’s interesting is that like a week before is when I get the extreme tiredness and irritability. Not during the actual period. Now that I have a tracker (like I said I never get mine the same time each month) I can see the week before is when I get the most symptoms.
However, you never know what you’re gonna get when I wake up, even with a normal situation. So him running at the first sign of tenseness is funny as hell to me, because I’m always tense lol
[–]HahaneFDS Newbie1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, I know what you mean, it's a PMS. Actually, I'm pretty relaxed during an actual period, kinda like it's pretty easy to be in a blank state of mind, if you know what I mean. Have you read a book called Cyclic Woman? It's pretty good if you wanna understand your mood swings and a womanhood better. It really helped me, because I've always felt bad about my PMS mood swings, and then I understood it's all right and how it's supposed to be. And about my ex, it was terrible, I always had to try hard to be cheerful so he wouldn't run lol. And that was exhausting.
[–]tellmesomething11FDS Apprentice1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Thank you for the book recc. My mom never discussed these things when I was a child. She was super neglectful, but I think she had her own issues. Not excusing her but it is what it is. Anyway, the books I’ve read tend to give super generalized. And I find it better when speaking to other women. For example, I had no idea women got their period at the same time every month because I don’t, but it makes sense because of the “I’m late” thing. I know I’m older now and could research things but I honestly never thought about researching my cycle because I didn’t know women experienced differently lol! 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ sounds crazy when I write it
[–]HahaneFDS Newbie0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's not crazy at all! Too many women are confused about a lot of things, and this is the place we can talk freely. We women have in common more than we tought, including not having someone we could talk to about private stuff. It's good that you're learning many new things, stay curious, sis!

Yup my husband laid into me once when I was upset over something he did when I was first day of my period.
He was armchair parenting from the couch while I struggled to get the kids out the door in all their winter gear and couldn't find mittens. I couldn't find mittens because he never put them away or brought them into the house from the car... and that day I was really pissed off about it.
But I had no right to be upset because it ruined his mood for the day.

[–]ms_monquisFDS Disciple12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes! This is why I love seeing people share these stories. Good, thoughtful people exist. Sometimes they hide so they don’t get shit, sometimes they are just happily ensconced in a well-working relationship and we don’t see them.
Recognizing and normalizing GOOD behavior is super important! It becomes such an ugly habit to only bitch about our SOs/friends/relationships, while never sharing the good stories. It helps to keep us in those bad cycles, and keeps us from even knowing that GOOD treatment IS an option!

They are hard to find. Many are misogynist lvm and the toxic culture supports it. There is that guy who inspired the padman movie and created a low cost pad making device for women in his village.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/yourstory.com/2017/12/padman-bollywood-real-story/amp There was a meme here about this Indian guy who built a well for his wife as some high caste villagers had stopped them going into his are.
My dad and brother both cook and if I need pads they would get it. We live outside India but my dad grew up in India and is an amazing cook. I'm not as good. Living in Australia I have friends with deadbeat partners who don't pay child support and don't do housework. So scrote behaviour can be pretty constant across cultures.

I agree, I'm not trying to take a dig at india. There's a lot of things I love about my country, but imo, on average, indian culture is far more misognystic and toxic for women as compared to most of the western world. I say that as someone who's firsthand suffered because of toxic misognystic indian culture, and also as some who's had the privilege of living in other parts of the world.

I had an LVM bf who was so grossed out with my periods, most of the time I skipped them. I was really self conscious about my body around him because of previous trauma and also he tried to triangulate me with this girl who was completely different to me. He always wanted me on top and I used to feel so self conscious but I did it anyway. This one time I got my period during sex, and when he finished and I moved unfortunately his “juices” seeped out with some of my period. His reaction was “EWWW!!! Yuck!” I was mortified!!! Then I said sorry and quickly cleaned up for him. I asked him if he wanted to shower with me, and he said no. Which was another kick in the guts because I was usually so self conscious around him and seeing my body, that it was like me initiating something which I never usually would, was just thrown back in my face.
I never had any exes before that who cared about period blood, and would jump at the chance to get in the shower with me, even after we had already had sex. It was like “our” personal time and we would have shower chats. There was none of that with him, and honestly he really made me feel so self conscious that whole relationship. And lied. Gaslit me. And now I can see he never loved me. I think, sometimes I would even detect pure contempt in his eyes when he looked at me.
This story warms my heart, and even now, makes me think it’s crazy that I can still question myself and my needs as being too much (wanting honest and no Porn etc.) when there’s men out there who do stuff like this. And I’m guessing the ones who do stuff like this are like that because they aren’t wasting their time talking to women and watching Porn - they’re putting their energy into their relationship and wholesome things in life.
[–]PahapanFDS Disciple16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
My ex initiated sex once, KNOWING I was on my period (I was always very open about when I got my period and I'd worn a pad to bed this night, so even if he'd forgotten me mentioning it there was no mistaking the giant pad), and then got grossed out afterwards because there was blood on his penis. He told me he'd expected me to stop him if my flow was heavy. 🙄 It wasn't even heavy, didn't get any blood on the sheets or anything.
At this point in our fucked up relationship he was rationing sex as a control tactic and didn't initiate often, so I'd been over the moon when he'd initiated even though he knew I was on my period. We'd had period sex before in the shower, but never in bed. It'd felt like it meant something. But then of course he had to bring me back down. These manipulative types are so good at that, always keeping you from actually being happy for any extended period of time.
And I totally know what you mean when you say you can see now that he never loved you. My ex always had these dead shark eyes, even when professing that he supposedly loved me. There was never any tenderness, not in his behavior towards me, not in his words, and not in his eyes. I was so desperate to be loved that I overlooked his abusiveness but the joke's on me, I suffered all that trauma and still never got to feel loved.
[–]Unlikely-MarzipanRuthless Strategist12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
That’s so traumatising and heartbreaking :(
The dead shark eyes - holy shit that was like mine! His actions showed tenderness, like he was quite huggy and kissy, but he also had those dead eyes and they would cloud over when he was angry (usually because he had been gaslighting me and lying so I was finally expressing my feelings), and he would do things for me but was so resentful. Like he was heating up dinner for me once, and he looked so pissed off to have to do it. His face was like thunder but he forced this quick fake flash of a smile when he looked at me. It was eerie and hard to explain. When my mother met him she said that he seemed creepy - like his smile didn’t meet his eyes, and he looked at her in this condescending way like “yep. I’ve got her.” (Meaning me, her daughter). My mother usually doesn’t pick up on stuff like that and will give any of my boyfriends a go, so when she says that stuff, I believe her. She never wanted to tell me though because she didn’t want to hurt me as I seemed happy.

MY EX HAD THE SAME SMILE, OMG. It's like he'd suddenly remember that smiling is something people do that's expected of him too, so he'd flash that smile that had no warmth behind it. It kind of reminded me of the type of smile little kids do when they're forced to smile for a picture. Even his laughter was kind of cold and clipped. It's like positive emotions didn't move him the same way they move normal people.
Do you think your ex might have antisocial personality disorder? I'm pretty convinced mine does.

The LVM I was married to used to pressure me for sex on my period, when he knew (because I told him several times) that I'm feeling uncomfortable and I'm in pain generally, also it doesn't feel good on my period at all. He still pressured me to have sex every single time (I think part of the appeal was that I was uncomfortable and only doing it for him). And I did give in because otherwise he would pout all day long and he had anger problems and was unpredictable. Well, I leveled up and I'm ready to find someone who actually cares about my needs on my period. I loved reading this.

There are so many things I would do if I magically turned into a straight guy with all I know from being a woman.
Tuning into my female partner's fertility cycle would be at the top of my list. Each phase effects our moods, energy levels...honestly everything because hormones effect everything.
Your cervix moves and gets firmer or softer throughout your cycle making different kind of sex appealing at different phases. It's like having a cheat code on a woman. LVM won't put in the effort to learn about female physiology but damn having that knowledge is truly a win-win situation for everyone.

Alternatively my Narc NVM ex had sex with me on my cycle at his apt. Acted disconnected and grossed out upon seeing the blood. Then when I went to put in a new tampon realized I had none. I walked out of his bathroom informing him and he directed me to two stores and said “do you need me to come with you bc I really need to clean off.” I was in shock, walking bloody to 7-11 at 11 pm alone in the city at dark. And he had the audacity to call me immature for leaving without saying goodbye as soon as I got my tampons.

I feel you. But they DO exist, very very small % of them though.

I have still yet to meet one in my 32 years on earth but here’s hoping.
