My first date since discovering FDS. I'm a single mom living with my parents to save up and buy a house.

A co-worker asked to take me out for a drink. I know that's against the rules, but honestly I was more comfortable with that anyways, so I went. I had a fan-freaking-tastic time.

The server laid down the bill, and he reached for it. My heart sang. (Stupid that we get excited over what should be standard). Then he blew the entire evening with one sentence:

"Do you mind Venmoing me?"

I had had one drink and a plate of fries. My share was $12. He had two drinks and a burger. His share was $20. 🙄

I was so taken off guard I just said yes and found him on Venmo. I didn't come to my senses until I was about to click on "submit". I turned my phone off instead and put it back in my purse.

He tried to break the tension and admitted how awkward it is to ask, but he just "doesn't have the money." I looked him in the eyes and said, "then you shouldn't be asking anyone out."

We ended the date abruptly and a bit awkwardly, and I was pretty bummed on the drive home.

I cooled off a bit as I washed my makeup off, and then typed him a text:

"So I changed my mind, I won't be venmoing you. It's extremely rude to ask me to, after you were the one who asked me out. It's also a slap in the face because what that really translates to is, "You're not worth it." Which is a shame, because I had a lot of fun tonight. Just thought I'd be honest so maybe you can learn from this 🤷‍♀️"

And kudos for him for his response:

"Totally fine by me. I realized it was a mistake as soon as I asked. I had a good time I'd like to go out again but if not I understand. You're definitely worth it that's not an impression I wanted to give."

Maybe he will know better for his next date, just a damn shame for him it won't be with me.

Just thought I'd share this to encourage the girls who may feel like they're too polite to really demand more, or for those girls that may be new to all this FDS stuff like me & are trying to apply it outside of Reddit. It's possible and it feels so. damn. good.

You are worth it, act like it.

Thank you so much, FDS, you have changed my life.
