Last time I gave a men compliments they either ignored it or said “I know.”

The men I’ve met who said this, expected compliments from me because they had showered me with them. Of course, it was from ugly, inappropriately older men with low self-esteem who wanted to flirt with me 😐 I think these complaints are a lie and it’s just manipulation to get you to be nice to them.

I very much dislike this framing, too!

Women do receive more support and more 'compliments' (and the fact that men somehow interweave genuine emotional support and something comparatively shallow as 'nice haircut, girl! Suits you!' is rather telling, isn't it?) because they nurture friendships. I've met plenty of men with genuine, supportive friendships with other men and they do not have this issue. Yes, male friendships have different overtones, but well-nurtured friendships between well-adjusted men are supportive and provide emotional value to these mens' lives.

But guess what, just like female friendships, they require effort! A properly supportive friendship is more than just sharing a few gaming sessions and going for the occasional drink! Most importantly, it requires letting go of this idea that all of your socio-emotional needs will just be magically taken care of by a bangmaid who demands nothing in return- and let's face it, not having such a bangmaid in their lives is what men are often actually complaining about when they complain about a lack of emotional support in their lives.

What these men are really saying is 'I'm sad no one will take care of my emotional needs and have sex with me for nothing in return'. Because non-sexual emotional support can be had aplenty the moment you provide value in a male-male friendship.

Because their emotional support needs are a black hole. LVM never get over their insecurities. They never heal from the crushing rejection from Jenny in 6th grade. They never get off their ass and start the first steps to their goal, so they always feel useless and unaccomplished. They never get therapy. They never read a book. They never join support subs. They never read blogs of people in the same position as them, or articles about their specific problem. They never look in the mirror and think critically about why their life sucks and what they're doing to contribute to their abject failure as a man.

They just expect a woman to have endless patience, re-parent them, but also find them sexually attractive, and never snap and let them know what a giant loser, whiny manbaby they're being.

And then they bitch about being in the friendzone with women they want sex from. "No friend, only sex". Once they get a girlfriend they latch on and expect everything from her.

I gave so much support and compliments to an emotional vampire I needed therapy for myself and I haven't dated since. He's still shitty. He hasn't improved one bit. So nah. Get fucked. Go make guy friends.

Women get complimented on their appearance, agreeable personality, and what they do for others.

Men get celebrated for their personal achievements, productiveness and independence.

Woman repaired something: it was probably an easy fix. Man repaired something: worshipped handyman. Woman wins a sports competition: congrats girl! Man wins sports competition: worshipped the coming month as Olympic God. Woman takes the lead in a project which comes to great fruition: it was a team effort. Man in leadership role: celebrated with grandeur as the driving force behind its success.

Women's achievements have been minimized for centuries. But yes, I do get complimented on my nice figure and pretty outfits a lot more than men. Woop-de-doo.

Men say stuff like this, but when they see women complimenting other women that they don't find attractive, they always go "oh wow you girls are so shallow and fake, you're lying to this woman's face, how dare you??". 🤡

And even if both women are conventionally attractive, they'll think it's not genuine, that women are being fake, sarcastic, etc.

Who wants to compliment someone that can't take a compliment and only sees the bad in everything?

I'm right there with you. They whine but do nothing to remedy the problem because they don't want to. They're lazy and used to being catered to, so they expect us to fix that and fix them, instead of being there for other men and leading by example, the way women do. They can whine and suffer, I don't care since they don't either; not my job. I compliment and support women and they reciprocate. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Ehhhh, not really. Us ladies aren’t bathed in compliments as much as they would think. I’ve received FAR more criticisms/negativity in life from people as a whole, than an abundance of compliments, as a woman.

For me, the silver lining of that, is I only value what I think of me, and maybe a few that are close to me that I love/care for. THAT’S IT. What anyone else thinks of me, doesn’t matter or even register.

Also, I don’t count “compliments” that I can sense are false flattery/an attempt to manipulate me for their gain. Hideous and gross.

ALSO, I only personally extend GENUINE compliments that I truly do mean.

In fact and funnily, the last compliment I paid, was to a man.😂 For the fact that keeps his living space immaculately clean, nicely furnished and aesthetically pleasing, and is a really great dog dad, he takes EXCELLENT care of his pup!! THOSE are things I value and notice!!

I dislike this as well because I feel like women rarely get genuine compliments, at least not from men.

Always when I get compliments from men, I feel like there's some ulterior motive, so they don't feel good or uplifting. The only compliments I've gotten from men that have felt authentic have been from my relatives or a professional of some kind (like a teacher, a psychologist etc).

Additionally, a lot of "emotional support" from men would also contain ulterior motives. If they support you in the slightest, they suddenly feel offended if you don't want to suck their D. "I listened to you for over two minutes, why won't you sleep with me already? That's so selfish."

With women, it's a two-way street. I try to build friendships and connections with women, which includes supporting each other. I don't just expect a bunch of women to come and support me on-demand, without giving anything to them.

My husband is a HVM and gets compliments all the time. On his hair, his outfits, his cologne, his dog. If he goes out with his other HVM friends they have women trying to buy them drinks or see what they’re doing later (recently at boys brunch some very young girls approached their table and my husband’s bestie was like “I’m going to stop you right there: married, married, engaged, gay” - and for some reason I die laughing every time I hear the response.

Maybe LVM just suck and that’s why they don’t get any compliments. Because my husband probably gets more compliments than I do when we are out in the world. put

We bumped into a guy my boyfriend works with at the gym. They’d not seen each other in a while and my boyfriend complimented him on gaining some muscle. The scrote barely heard him and made a comment towards me about my boyfriend being short while looking me up and down. I’m sure that’s not the compliments scrotes want though. Can’t say I could give him one though as the scrote turns my stomach.

Lessons I've learned is that although it's fun to complement people the consequences of complementing some men makes it not worth doing so.

In the meantime hell yeah I'm going to tell a random woman I think her coat/hair/bag etc is awesome; a random man isn't getting the same treatment. If I don't know them they're not safe.

They brought it upon themselves when they discourage other males to provide them emotional support - they level them as gay. Contrast to middle eastern culture, like Syria, where guys can eat out together, hug, spend time over brunch together there’s no such complaint. It’s the western men or westernized ones who brought it upon themselves.

This is BS, my ex husband had a private chat group of 10 of his real life friends and they talked about everything in that chat, like problems with their wives etc. and they gossiped more than any women.
