As a bisexual woman recently divorced from a man, I'm seriously considering limiting my dating pool to women when I date again. All the societal bullshit that I went through in a previous LTR with a woman didn't hold a candle to the misogyny that worked its way into my marriage with a man. His entitlement was subtle, but absolutely present and deeply ingrained. I used to think he was so sensitive and enlightened. I don't know if it's possible for a male, socialized male, to really 'get it.'

Especially straight women, where the power balance is tipped way off, men can kill us with bare hands and hate us just for being different sex than them, are feeling entitled and demanding us to do EVERYTHING. Who in their right mind would want to gamble on such huge odds of being harmed, abused, disappointed, murdered, raped, unexpectedly impregnated, or manipulated into broken boundaries with only about 5% chance of finding actual bliss, happiness and reciprocation. And even then with no guarantee that it will last a very long time. It's a curse.

Dude im with right now treats me better than I ever thought possible. Cleans up after himself, listens to me (without offering advice, talking back, or calling it “drama”), lets me be myself, has the same style of humor and political values... and I’m still expecting him to bounce because I treat him with equal kindness and respect.
