I just want to preface and say that I don’t think he is a bad guy, he didn’t treat me horribly like some of my exes, in fact I’d say that he’s treated me the best out of all of them. When I brought issues up he did make an effort to be more self aware and I did notice change, he buys me gifts or candy, always pays for the dates and never asks me, we have a lot of hobbies in common, very attentive in the bedroom and we like traveling. But there are things that I just can’t get past.

I’m sure there are many of you who would have left at the first sign of one of these red flags but what can I say, I’m still trying to level up.

He doesn’t value my experiences and opinions and constantly takes the opposition no matter what it is. Even after I’ve shared and provided reasons on why I don’t want to do XYZ. It feels like I have to have my whole case laid out, prepare my opening, provide evidence, witness testimony (the works!) for why I don’t want to do something.

I can never tell when he’s joking or not and when he says things they come off very passive aggressive seemingly masked as “jokes” which causes me to get defensive.

He wants to spend a lot of time together, like a lot (5-6 days: we’ve been dating 7 months). I’ve shared with him that it is hard to spend so much time together when we are both working adults, live 25 min apart, and we both have our own individual hobbies - there is only so much time in the week. We tried working out together and he said it wasn’t quality time together so we stopped (I didn’t want to). I feel like I don’t get to do the things I want to do bc I have to spend time with him or he’ll be disappointed.

I know we should break up but why is it still so difficult to actually do...

I guess what I’m asking for are some words of encouragement, wise wisdom or shared sentiments from my fellow queens 👑
