Unfortunately it is the "humor" of many men. Needless to say that the same men usually only dish it out but can't take it.

When I wouldn't laugh or even smile at his jokes, he said I was no fun to be around anymore..

When I did just laugh, he said it was kind of pathetic and sad that I was laughing at my own expense.... Right to my face....

I seriously had a coworker pull a number two after I would no longer sit with him. He had decided it was a good idea to play footsies after making some fucked up "joke" and I was out in a flash. He asked why I no longer sit with them "quite frankly, I don't know when you are 'joking' anymore, and I don't like the jokes you do play. I'd rather sit alone." Then a "what you can't take a joke?" Dude sounded like a psychopath. He constantly puts downs his wife in really messed up ways (I would cringe laugh and avoid with a "ahaahaa...that's funny (gtf away)" not realizing how that was actually ENCOURAGING HIM. In my brain he was my coworker and even in this uncomfortable situation I had to withstand him. Then, when he realized he was not going to get my attention in any way he decided to walk by and flick my ear really hard. I had to hold it in because my first instinct was to slap him with a closed fist in the face. I just yelled out that wasn't okay and that is violent. He backed away after that. Honestly, typing this out, for the first time did I realize that not only was that sexual harassment, but he was elevating it to abuse....wow, just wow

This experience and another made me realize that this pos was not only actively cheating on his wife at the office with multiple people, but that he is also physically abusing her as well as emotionally and verbally.

We had an end of the quarter event/dinner party for the company and this loser was on and on and on about it. Big day comes and I didn't see him there, I wanted to meet his wife and scope out if she was okay. They never came. I asked him about it and he said in this really monotone cold voice "oh my wife and baby were sick, so I stayed to take care of them"....the week before I told a coworker that I do admire because he is a family man and his family is so tight knit and beautiful to take off because he was taking care of his sick wife (who also had a work presentation) and 2 daughters. I could tell he was waiting for me to praise him. I just said 'oh, well that's unfortunate I hope they're better."

Honestly I was so scared, I was more afraid that they had some sort of argument/fight before the party and he beat her. This guy is so fucking gross, always "joking" about how his wife is a bitch (got mad when I said "well, get a divorce"), about how he drinks and plays video games while "watching his daughter" (told him he's a shit dad and if I were his wife I would divorce him and take my babies), about how his wife hates anime (dude ughhhhh I don't even want to know what you're watching that she doesn't like). He is always listening in to the girls in the office to change things about himself to attract them. This guy doesn't seem as bad at first, he is very clean cut, does judo and goes to his friends "olympic (barbells mostly) gym", until he starts to talk. He is incelly af he is so fucking impulsive he cannot help himself from negging and putting you down in conversation. It's so gross. I even stopped pursuing someone because they were using him to flirt and stir me up a little. Girl, if this is the trashboat (like the ones taking trash out of NYC) you want to associate with and flirt with, let me gtf out of your way, permanently.

The way those dudes "pick on others" mostly is downright abusive and passive aggressive. If you want to know if they just want to banter around or if they mean it (although usually this is easy to see) just do the same back to them, with the same level of severity of the insults they used. There's a time and place for teasing (and he certainly didn't earn that any time). There's a way to tease - but you need to find out about the other person's sense of humour first. Even if they are self-deprecating, you shouldn't just assume that you can tease them. Also, have a sense of humour other than being an asshole who negs!

My male friends always apologize if they've accidentally offended me. I always tell them their joke was bad. I've made bad jokes before. It happens occasionally. If a man ever makes it your fault you were offended, he doesn't deserve your presence.

My soon to be ex husband would always make jokes targeting my weight, age, and looks. I didn't want to be that girl who was offended. I left him when I realized what he was doing. He wanted me to think I had no options, and if I left him, I would be alone forever. When I did leave him, he went crazy trying to get me back and apologized so much. He said he only said those things to me, but he would brag about me to everyone when I wasn't there. He kept saying I was his dream girl. Too late.

I'm back down to 125 lbs (what I weighed before we got married and I gained 45 lbs). I just got back from Vegas where the security guard got so mad when my sister and I said we weren't going to get wristbands at the casino security counter so they would stop asking us for ID. We're in our 30s. My coworkers thought I was 19. I'm half Chinese, but I look white. So, that could be why I look young.
