I started to watch this video last week after I saw it posted on Reddit. I couldn't get past more than a few minutes of it. My heart was breaking for Will. I think this is at the core, not only of the MRA challenge, but in the reception it is getting - from society overall, not only from a coterie of loud radical feminists.

You know what I find really annoying? This idea that so many women seem to have that they find depth and character in "discovering themselves". It's like they just reached some kind of epiphany or deep realization that anyone with basic insight couldn't have figured out about them within 5 minutes of meeting them. They actually seem to think that whatever realization they make about themselves somehow makes them better or stronger. It's non-sense. Some times they even try to pass this off as some pretentious claim of higher-spirituality(which would also imply that spirituality also had some type of objective innate value).

And, what's worse, is that they usually use this fallacy as a way to avoid taking responsibility for their own actions, decisions and beliefs. How often do you hear men say that they are "discovering themselves"? You don't, because men don't "discover themselves" they "make themselves". They find out who they need or want to be and work towards that. They already know all there is to know about who they are. It's not really a mystery to them and, even when they change, they still don't see it as some deep profound epiphany.
