Dear male students you are not toxic.

Would have been a good one.

[–]vwatchrepair 102 points103 points104 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I'd love to know if there's one boy out there who will raise his hand in this class and ask, "What about a sign for men/boys?"

And then, I'd love to hear this teachers response.

[–]Amazing-Bit6140 85 points86 points87 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You really wouldn’t.

They expect this question, and have a response of how men have everything handed to them and white men in particular have had all the power since the beginning of time, so it’s time for this boy that has fuck all to do with that to be punished for it now

[–]vwatchrepair 57 points58 points59 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's the part that drives me nuts. Saying that to an adult male is already ridiculous enough. But, saying this to a very young boy is abusive. And disgusting.

[–]ReasonVision 20 points21 points22 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

> how men have everything handed to them

"Well, you're not handing anything"

I'd pay to watch that spectacle with someone competent at comebacks. Unfortunately, competence is gained through knowledge of the academical works, and that cannot be expected of kids.

[–]Infamous-Mark-8434 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The one thing that sucks most about being a white male is confusing my Maserati keys with my Ferrari keys, and which mega Mansion in NY and CA I left it in. If I have my Ferrari keys in CA while I'm at my house in NY now I have to waste an hour to fly my jet. This is what every white male is born with and if you see a white male begging on the streets, he's just cosplaying what an unprivileged persons life is.

[–]Amazing-Bit6140 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yup, must have gambled away his male privilege. All his own fault. /s

[–]Infamous-Mark-8434 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No you see, he has infinite resources he's on the streets for a couple hours because he's bored. It's all for shits and giggles.

[–]GMD3S1GNS 50 points51 points52 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Or at least treat us like human beings at the very minimum, most teachers just look down on me and treat me like crap

[–]dokks 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's just so wrong.

[–]schmadimax 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Liberated_Asexual 34 points35 points36 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But how would they cover half of their curriculum of intersectional feminism and patriarchy rooted in toxic masculinity?

[–]kamyarni 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i though female are toxic because they use labeling and naming people all the time🤔

[+]Helpdeskagent -57 points-56 points-55 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, there are some incel level comments in here though. Men don’t really need a circle jerk in this scenario, if they posted something in here saying “don’t let men keep you down” I’d be like “really? Is that needed?” If we aren’t being accused of the reason someone is being held down just step back guys, we’re not part of this. It’s like the idiots that say “AlL LiVeS MaTtEr!?” Yeah we get it, but some are struggling more atm. If someone said “save the rainforests!” You wouldn’t be like “fuck you! All forests matter!!!” (Aside from how funny that would be)

[–]Lalulale 29 points30 points31 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The problem isn't that the issues of one group gets highlighted. The problem is that everyone's issues except one groups issues get highlighted. And also that the issues of that one group will never get highlighted or even mentioned.

[–]ReasonVision 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That... and who gets explicitly or implicitly blamed for it. Will such a teacher ever blame female students for Patriarchy, and not in an "internalized misogyny" way? Will a black student be told not to blame X racial problem on White Supremacy? No to neither and more.

[–]Double_A_92 87 points88 points89 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The Latino and Muslim ones would make me uncomfortable... because it implies that everyone else is calling me a terrorist just because I'm a muslim?

[–]Angryasfk 57 points58 points59 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

“Ah that’s all right Johnny. I don’t think you’re a thief because you’re black. That’s everyone else! But not me because I’m ‘superior’”.

Yeah, doesn’t really sound that good does it!!!!

[–]crz8956 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Precisely. I would get offended, and sue school. Just to see them wriggle and make pathetic excuses.

[–]duhhhh 362 points363 points364 points 3 years ago (61 children) | Copy Link

There is a message there for boys ...

Dear Boys,

You do not matter.

Your life is ugly and you are not allowed to expand past gender roles.

You are rapists and drug dealers.

You terrorize by your presence.

Women can grab you without repercussions.

In this classroom there are strict boundaries for you.

[–]randomguy7277 71 points72 points73 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Agreed

[–]tonyplayzetc 45 points46 points47 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think my science teacher is now secretly misandrist because she got posters saying things positively about females but not males.

[–]israfildivad 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The entire school system is misandrist. Theres a reason the vast majority of teachers are women. Boys never want to go back once they've escaped

[–]NAWALT_VADER 26 points27 points28 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

...my science teacher is now secretly misandrist...

I dunno. Doesn't sound like she is being secretive about it at all.

[–]NetNeutralitee1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (38 children) | Copy Link

I think that’s a very negative way to interpret that.

Just because there is not a quote for the boys, does not mean they are calling boys ugly rapists. It does not mean women are allowed to grab them.

Trying to interpret things in a way to make them attacks on men is not a healthy outlook.

[–]Lalulale 94 points95 points96 points 3 years ago (28 children) | Copy Link

It tells the boys (that don't fall into an other category) that they are not important enough to also be mentioned. They are not as much valued as others or otherwise there would be an encouraging message for them as well.

[–]randomguy7277 66 points67 points68 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

And Asians. They left Asians out.

[–]mixing_saws 28 points29 points30 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Straight asian males share a very similar fate to the white straight males.

[–]NetNeutralitee1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (24 children) | Copy Link

But isn’t that the same argument that saying Black Lives Matter means they are saying other lives don’t? A completely false straw man argument that is just looking to make people feel like victims?

[–][deleted] 65 points66 points67 points 3 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

Statistics show boys are far more likely to be killed by police, do MALE lives matter? Or just ones that contain certain melanin in their skin.

[–]NetNeutralitee1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (20 children) | Copy Link

I don’t understand your point.

[–]Lalulale 47 points48 points49 points 3 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

Let's assume you have 3 kids named Anthony, Beth and Cornelius. You tell Anthony and Beth all the time that they are good, that they are valued and that they matter. You never tell Cornelius anything.

Do you think Cornelius thinks that he is just as important to you as the other kids? Do you think this is more likely to affect Cornelius in a positive or negative way? Do you think you are fair to all kids?

[–]NetNeutralitee1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (16 children) | Copy Link

These statements were not about benign valued.

Let’s say you have three kids. Tom, dick, and harry. Tom and Harry struggle in math so a parent puts a note in their lunchbox that says ‘you can do math and I believe in you’. Does that mean the parents are telling dick he is a violent rapist? Obviously not. That logic would be crazy.

[–][deleted] 40 points41 points42 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Feminists say "society brings these expectations on girls" well the expectation of boys nowadays is: pedophile, rapist, weird ugly man from down the road.. we aren't here bitching about being called rapists because our mummies didn't put notes in our lunch box.

[–]NetNeutralitee1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

No one assumes every boy is a violent pedophile rapist. I speak with hundreds of people a day and no one treats me like a criminal. I would notice that.

[–][deleted]20 points 3 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

"All men are trash, fuck the patriarchy, believe all women!"

  • Spoken by a Feminist for "equality"

[–]HatchetXL8 points 3 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Oh and what are those feminist books? 'DAMN' DESTROY ALL MEN NOW or whatever. Try making a book about destroying females, see how society takes you when you hold that stance

[–][deleted]9 points 3 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

One of the best books for mens rights & for fatherless men is actually written by a former feminist.

The Boy Crisis (2018) Warren Farrel & John Gray.

[–]ReasonVision2 points 3 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Someone needs to read into demoralization. What are positive identities that men can assume, and what gender problems are not exclusively demanded of men to solve?

[–]twisty286 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

bros got -100 comment karma now lmao

[–]Emergency-Honey-4466 40 points41 points42 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

so men don't struggle with any problems. got it

[–]NetNeutralitee1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link

They do. But do they have to be brought up in every scenario or else men are being called rapists? That’s some crazy logic there

[–]Lalulale21 points 3 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

They don't have to be brought up in every scenario.

The problem starts when they are never brought up in any scenario.

[–]Algoresball16 points 3 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

They shouldn’t be the singular group that’s excluded.

[–]KissMyAsthma-9916 points 3 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

If there is a sign for every major demographic, except two, those two rightfully feel like they are being told a negative.

To deny that shows exactly what you believe, and it's gross.

[–]NetNeutralitee2 points 3 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I have a ‘I stand with Ukraine’ and ‘Boston strong’ banner in front of my house. So obviously it means I hate every country other than Ukraine and every city other than Boston right?

[–]KissMyAsthma-9922 points 3 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Nope, but if you had up 190 country flags, the 5 left out could rightfully infer disdain.

[–]Lalulale 17 points18 points19 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Dick has no struggles? Why not make a lunchbox for him as well for example with 'you can do English grammar and I believe in you? Or are there not enough lunchboxes?

Btw. the messages in this topic were not about one specific struggle but about struggles/problems in general. So I am quite sure there could have easily been made a message for boys since they have their struggles as well.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The concept that black lives matter is underpinned by the idea that males are being shot, George Floyd (Male) Duante wright (Male) Andre Hill (Male) and most of the notable women were killed at home or in no knock raids.

This injustice against men by police is seen internationally too, not just in the US. But people refuse to call it out.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/585149/people-shot-to-death-by-us-police-by-gender/

[–]Nobleone11 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But isn’t that the same argument that saying Black Lives Matter means they are saying other lives don’t?

Considering that one of their chief organizers invested all those major donations into an opulent lifestyle instead of in the black community they proport to fight for, it's pretty clear even THEY don't believe Black Lives Matter unless it can line their pockets.

[–]Killin4ssault12 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

While I agree with that, it makes no sense to tell girls that men can't grab them, while at the same time saying absolutely nothing to boys at all.

[–]Algoresball 41 points42 points43 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

How is a little boy supposed to interpret that other than “you’re not as important as everyone else”. This is pathetic, whatever teacher did this shouldn’t be anywhere near a classroom

[–]NetNeutralitee1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Most people aren’t looking for reasons to be offended. Most boys wouldn’t think for a second about this.

[–]Algoresball 35 points36 points37 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Never underestimate what it feels like to be singled out as a child. This teaches boys that they don’t matter and not to complain about it. If the first person who says you matter is Andrew Tate, you’re going to agree with his world view. How hard would it have been to include “boys, your feelings are not toxic, you are not disposable”. Did this school just happen to run out of cards or something?

[–]Qantourisc 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Most boys wouldn’t think for a second about this.

No, they DO NOT think about it, and that's the issue.

The harm done is invisible.

But not being mentioned time and time again, and only getting negative input DOES have it's effect, especially if it's invisible.

[–]Oz70NYC 37 points38 points39 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think YOU need to shut the fuck up. You know God damn well this is EXACTLY how young men are treated in these gynocentric universities. And if one even so much as DARE call attention to this blatant mistreatment he's ostracized indefinitely. Seen it happen with my own eyes. Got so bad for this poor fellow he had to transfer schools...and all for stating the fact his professor was giving female student preferential treatment...WITH PROOF. Miss me with that bullshit.

[–]mixing_saws 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The wokenazis have taken over. Its everywhere.

[–]Snoo_2853 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it's a very negative way to interpret it, but it's also an accurate way to interpret it. That's the problem!

[–]Qantourisc 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Being ignored is a form of silent neglect.

If it's once it's ok, but it's systematic. And this does have an impact.

[–]ReasonVision 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just because there is not a quote for the boys, does not mean they are calling boys ugly rapists. It does not mean women are allowed to grab them.

True, that's where observing the rest of the ideology comes into play. It's the classic "I handed in my gun to stop gun crime - Did you cut off your dick to stop rape" dynamic of only asking men change and take responsibility for what society is in need of correcting... and the fact that every demographic can blame their social problems on someone lower on the Progressive stack.

[+]Trosso -10 points-9 points-8 points 3 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

The message is

Dear boys,

The world is yours and you don’t need any more of a leg up to achieve it. God has given you everything, now it’s on your power to grasp it.

[–]EmirikolWoker 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

The world is yours and you don’t need any more of a leg up to achieve it

What "leg up" are boys getting, considering that gaps showing black people to be a disadvantaged group in the US have comparable or greater gaps favouring women (sources at the bottom of each slide)?

[–]Trosso -5 points-4 points-3 points 3 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

The world is yours, you either grasp and achieve it or you don’t. What more do you want?

[–]Killin4ssault12 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

That's not the case with just boys...?

[–]Trosso -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Sure, but we embody that mentality more than women. We built this world, if we want to change it we can. Crying on the internet won’t change it now will it?

[–]EmirikolWoker 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Crying on the internet won’t change it now will it?

Do you really think real-world activity and discussing those activites and issues online are mutually exclusive?

[–]Trosso -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Of course not! But given the lack of real world impact back men’s right activists, it’s safe to say they bitch online and don’t do anything about it

[–]EmirikolWoker 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I see. So you're completely ignorant of the work done by mens rights advocacy organisations like NCFM, CAFE, Justice For Men And Boys, and AVFM, plus individuals like Tanis Moore and Tom Golden. Not to mention the day-to-day work that we're doing in our own lives.

Why are you here if you're so completely ignorant of and hostile to mens rights adovacy?

[–]Trosso -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

None of those things are mainstream, and are probably all are US based. Why are you so US centric in your thinking?

I’m here to empower men and boys rather than letting them be whiny like feminists. Demand more of yourself.

[–]EmirikolWoker1 point 3 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

None of those things are mainstream

Oooooh. That's what we're doing wrong, we should be popular. I wondered whether underground was the best strategy - if only we just succeded, that would help the cause immensely!

Do you think that's a useful contribution?

and are probably all are US based. Why are you so US centric in your thinking?

You don't know what you're talking about. And you keep showing it.

I’m here to empower men and boys rather than letting them be whiny like feminists. Demand more of yourself.

How do you propose men talk about their issues in such a way that doesn't offend your delicate sensibilities? What's the "correct" way of advocacy?

[–]Killin4ssault12 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No we do not. I can't name a single man who says any of that aside from the oppressors from years ago. I'm not crying about it, I'm just talking about the fact that it's blatantly untrue to throw it upon men.

[–]EmirikolWoker 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Equal legal rights with women, including but not limited to the right to bodily integrity, the right to separate sex from parenthood, and equal protection under the law.

Something to redress unfair treatment, like the bias against boys in education, funding for male-specific health conditions, help addressing the male suicide epidemic and homelessness would be good too.

Equal levels of accountability between men and women would be fantastic, so that there is less incentive to make false accusations. It would also tie in to the aforementioned equal protection under the law.

What did you mean by what you said? What "leg up" are boys getting?

[–]Trosso -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

We have no barriers, we can take the world and do what we wish. We created this world. We will build this world.

If life isn’t going as you wish it’s in your power to change and nobody else’s.

[–]EmirikolWoker 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

If life isn’t going as you wish it’s in your power to change and nobody else’s.

How do you propose one changes the aforementioned gaps and human rights discrepencies?

Or are out-of-touch platitudes all you've got?

You haven't answered the question, either: what "leg up" are boys getting?

[–]Trosso -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The leg up they’re getting is that being white and male means everything is in your own control. You have nothing to blame but yourself, people won’t hold you back for having a weird name or not being white.

Everything is in your control, what reason have you got for not winning at life?

[–]EmirikolWoker 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The leg up they’re getting is that being white and male means everything is in your own control.

I forgot reading was something you struggle with. Gaps showing black people to be disadvantaged compared to whites have comparable or greater gaps disadvantaging men compared to women.

[–]Trosso -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Great! All those things are valid points, but all you do is whine about it. How about you make a change?

Society is built by men for men. Most men don’t care about other men. What actions are you taking to make them care?

Men are the biggest winners and losers on society, because we take all the risk and get all of the reward. You see.

[–]EmirikolWoker1 point 3 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Great! All those things are valid points,

And yet you're downvoting and avoiding queations. Insecure, much?

but all you do is whine about it. How about you make a change?

How do you propose advocates talk about men's issues in such a way that doesn't offend your delicate sensibilities?

And how do you propose one makes the change (without talking to others about it - wouldn't want to be called "whiny" by a nobody on the internet).

Society is built by men for men. Most men don’t care about other men. What actions are you taking to make them care?

I'm a counsellor specialising in men and boys. What are you doing, aside from telling advocates to stop "whining", calling them "incels" and telling them they don't have any real problems because society is made for them?

You still haven't answered the question. What, specifically, are the legs up boys get?

This is pretty funny coming from the gender exclusively guilty of the false rape accusation crime and murder via divorce rape and suicide. (Symptoms of your empathy gap, i.e. bigoted self absorption)

Also, women murder their romantic partners directly in significant numbers, so this isn't the moral slam dunk you think it is.

Your comment here wasn’t about murder; your comment was about sex offenders. I have addressed your murder comment below, but you are trying to change the subject here because you know you are struggling to win the argument. This is a very low debating tactic.

Your original comment used the term “recorded sex offenders” which is interesting because even you are alluding to the fact that there are unrecorded ones. That would include unreported attacks, but also every single woman rapist in my country.

[–]Qantourisc 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Crime happens, and due to bell-curves, yes you will find these extreme behaviours more often in the extremities of these bell-curves.

But the vast majority, aren't raping and throwing in dumpsters.

If you don't want rape (or any crime) to happen:
- Invest in caring for _everyone_
- Invest in making it easy to build, have, and maintain good social networks (which causes social control)
- Provide universal basic income
- Make therapy free
- Invest more in mental health.

And even if you do all this, there will still be people with neurological damage that commit crimes.

Be glad that boys are not included. While probably well intentioned, most of these messages are awful.
While trying imply the classroom is a safe space, it's actually re-enforcing the idea that all these stereotypes and biases do apply outside of the school walls.

Like Black students... your life only matters when you're in this classroom. But once you leave the school, you go back to being a second tier citizen. How is this helping their wellbeing?
Or Latino boys.. unlike your brothers, you're not going to be a rapist or drug dealer.

[–]TheeBattleMedic 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m Hispanic (Honduran) and the R*pist and drug dealers is talking about ms13 and coyote gangs. Personally all of it is stupid, fake social rules, so being born a gender facing different experiences on how people view you is social rules.

The idea that men are stronger is viewed as fake but men have larger lungs, overall lots more muscle mass, taller, thicker. Bone density which leads women to have more bone conditions. The fact that a mother is overall more vulnerable especially during pregnancy and after would lead men to protect their women through everything. But nope men bad, only women, children and LGBTQIA+?\£<¥ are beautiful, cause fuck men but trans men deal with oppression and fake social rules. For me I don’t think a girl can truly know what a man goes through in life, the same way a man can’t truly understand what a woman goes through. Idc if someone’s trans be what you want but doesn’t change biology, your still far more likely to get a bone disease, while a man is more likely to get prostate cancer.

What I don’t like about trans ppl or gay men is when they are or identify as men but hate and shit on men. Then why be it, and gay men they love men but shit on them. The logic doesn’t make sense(and I know they’d say the problem is cis white men idc a man is a man) overall for those who hate men but want to be one, hating is the furtherest thing from understanding and being. I don’t hate women or anyone( just find people don’t usually make sense, lots of double standards that people choose to ignore) I think hating women is as stupid as hating men. And they should have put something like dear men, your are not a r*pist, killer, abuser, you aren’t toxic, your life matter.

A BLM message?

Honestly, screams 'clueless white person wrote this'. ADOS people finally recognized BLM is a scam organization and turned their backs to it.

dunno why y'all are angry over a missing note about "boys" when this entire thing is stupid af, and is also ironically racist.

Just a genuine question to try and understand something I wouldn’t know as a female but what is something that men need reassurance for that you would put on the wall in this scenario?

Edit: Doesn’t makes sense that a woman is trying to literally understand what you need and you’re downvoting it. You can’t ask to be seen and then shoot down someone that is trying to see you.

Someone said it above: “You’re not toxic”.

You're not rapists. You're not murderers and criminals. Your emotions matter just as much as anyone else's. You're not just emotionless, work-driven sex robots. You have value outside of what you can provide. You aren't white supremacists. You aren't expected to be either perfect or a failure.

Theres plenty of those

What isn't too important. But the systemic neglect is an issue.

Well, maybe that we aren't responsible for the small percentage of men who are rapists and we don't deserve to be seen as offenders in each and every situation.

'Dear Boys, we don't all hate you. We're just interested in social issues'

[–]Halafax 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

“Unless those issues affect boys, in which case shut up.”

-every feminist

The thing is, those issues may affect anyone, but generally in history and present societies across the globe, they don't affect them because they are boys, or per example because they are white, or because they are cis gendered, or heterosexual, While the opposite example of Women, Black, and transgender, or homosexual experience these issues because of their sex, gender, race or sexuality.

Do boys need it? We can just tell them at home that we are proud of them and that they are not toxic.

A piece of paper like this would not break their mentality if It didn't.
