So both men and women think it's more morally wrong for a man to cheat. Men and women are more prejudice against men. Society in general hold men to higher standards of correctness and higher standard of consequences if some men don't comply with the correctness.

If and/or when a man cheats on his wife, it is always morally wrong regardless of other factors involved. If and/or when a woman cheats on her husband, it can't be morally wrong until other factors prove it to be so.

People are always surprisingly willing to withhold judgement until the woman in question has elaborated her side of the story, but those very same people would immidiately judge a man for cheating on his wife because they see men as little more than dogs who can't keep it in their pants.

It kind of bothers me that such a high percentage of people are OK with breaking wedding vows. The marriage contract is at its core a sexually exclusive contract. You are legally agreeing to not have sex with other people, so that the identity of your children can be assured. That's the primary purpose of getting married.

Wtf at the negative correlation with academic achievement. I thought an affair was morally wrong by definition. If you cheat instead of breaking up or divorcing you are a selfish coward. I don't know how anyone would justify a difference between men and women either.

i think i got it, it's 100% per option, 53% of all men think it's wrong for woman to cheat, while other 47% think it is not wrong

The results are very weird though, how can almost 50% of men think that cheating is not morally wrong? especially when cheating affects men more (chance of rising someone else's child for example) it's one thing when your partner has someone else, but it's another when you learn that you don't have anyone, even the kids are not yours

Likely they justify it with some sort of nonsense like "well, he earns more, so I feel trapped in a loveless situation" or some such hogwash.

Figure it out. There's no rationale that flies to cheat on a partner, married or not.

I wonder how this would be different for age.

I used to think that anybody who cheated was 100% wrong no matter the situation.

But then my sister tried to leave her boyfriend multiple times, and he kept threatening to kill himself if she left. He also said that he'd call her boss and tell them that she had abused a certain patient (100% false). So she stayed with him to avoid retaliation. Eventually she ended up cheating, because she wasn't happy in the relationship but also couldn't leave.

I understand why people in those situations would cheat. But that's regardless of gender.

I think we'd see the same if the survey was done by men. It's more so a bias of onesself i.e. most ppl would rather cheat than be cheated on.

But men also think it is more “morally wrong” for married men to cheat, they actually think it’s more morally acceptable for a married women to cheat than women themselves do, so it’s interesting that the bottom half of the statistics only look at demographically different women and not both men and women from different demographics
