I'm a circumcised male. Recently I've been seeing a lot of comments referring to circumcised penises as mutilated penises. Having had the procedure done for cosmetic reasons at infancy, I am ostensibly part of the demographic these comments are fighting to help. I appreciate the sentiment but come on guys. I don't think of myself as mutilated, and I don't want to hear that I'm mutilated. People who use the word mutilated in this context are alienating the people they think they're helping. Just please stop using it for god's sake, you're going to give people a complex about their penises

Edit: A lot of people are taking this to mean that I want to silence people who call circumcision mutilation. That is not the case. I wanted to encourage discussion and I thought that starting with my own experience would be productive. On another note, there is more to the word mutilation than its dictionary definition. A person who had his finger cut off was mutilated by definition, but if you tell them that they're likely to be offended. My goal is for people to become more aware of this as they discuss circumcision.
