By “genetic traits”, I’m assuming they will be gene testing themselves and their partners? Because physical traits are not genetic traits and shows they are clueless about genetics if that’s what they think. And some physical traits are not guaranteed. If they themselves are carriers of a genetic abnormality, will they allow the man to pick an egg of a genetically superior woman to make a baby with? She can still carry it to feel like the mother. Lots of questions to understand this.

I honestly don't know how to feel about this.

I was raised by my father to expect to carry on my genes, and if I don't, then I fundamentally failed him and my ancestors. It would be hard to come to terms with failing my father in exchange for a romantic relationship.

I don't know what's the point of the woman undergoing pregnancy with her own eggs in this scenario. Is it because it's cheaper? If money is not a problem, it would be optimal to also get eggs from a "genetically optimal" woman, even better if you can manage to get a surrogate mother along with it.

If you do actually care about passing on your genes but also want eugenically optimal kids, but are unable to pair up with genetically optimal men, then good luck. I'm sure there's men around who want children but don't care about passing on genes/can't pass their genes so this wouldn't an issue for them, or men who'd want to but are desperate enough to let it pass depending on the woman.

I personally think relationships where a partner accepts mistreatment because they'd be broken up with otherwise are more often than not a ticking time bomb of resentment, but they probably can be made to work.

The reason this wouldn't work is that they would also be the children of extremely neurotic women. So any good traits that a sperm donor would bring in would simply be balanced out by the mother's genes. And that's assuming the mother has any reasonable grasp of how she would choose donor traits anyway. Of course, she's a woman, and thus believes she's god's gift to man, but in reality she's just some average crazy person. Also, nobody would agree to this. Nobody.

I think this would result to in-breeding after several cycles/generations.
I don't know if these traits they are looking for are what all women would want but I am assuming that most women would find those traits desirable and thus reducing gene diversity after several generations.

This is actually a reality for me, and not by choice - we have to take donor sperm due to structural rearrangement on my husband‘s chromosomes, unless we want to have a disabled child. Your friends are volunteering to be in my shoes for no reason. They are retards. I can’t believe these dumb broads are 28 and 29.

Insults aside, your friends are just theorizing, and their opinions remain to be opinions of people who do not have to commit to this circumstance. When this becomes your situation, when you are about to get pregnant with a baby of a guy you don’t know and live with the consequences of this choice for the rest of your life, you evaluate things differently, much less optimistically. Other people told you that a woman is essentially telling the guy “your genes aren’t good enough”, and maybe they aren’t, but this does not mean a man will be adult about it - most men don’t want children for sake of children. Children is a confirmation of their validity as a man.

I'm not a guy but I would imagine this would be a dealbreaker for a lot of people - having their partner basically tell them they are not worthy of having a biological child with. It would be more understandable if they had something genetically wrong that could pose a risk to future children, like Huntington's or cystic fibrosis. But still, even that would be eugenics. But just for genetic traits like looks is painfully shallow. And if they are trying to gain personality traits, this is even worse because that is a pseudo science at best. We don't fully understand the how nature and nurture interact. And there are no gaurentees with genetics alone. Just because parents have certain traits, doesn't ensure the child will. There are 6 agents of socialisation, 5 of which are independent of genetics.

Now, I’m not opposed to adopting (in other words, if the infant/child is an orphan), but beyond that, unless I am incapable of reproduction id take it as an insult.

Yeah, but the man in this case is STILL expected to financially provide for and raise a child that's not his. SHE gets HIS help to raise HER offspring, which is also from another man.

That's a great deal for HER.

Nothing wrong with it as long as she uses donor eggs as well. Most likely her genetics are bad as well if she’s worried about the outcome of her offsprings.
